Rebirth: I have Monopoly System

Chapter 340 - 326: Massive New Year’s Shopping

Although Qi Fei was inexperienced, she had studied some psychology and could guess what Wu Yun was thinking just from his micro-expressions.

Qi Fei’s heart ached for him. She squeezed his hand and said, "I’ll go with you to see your grandparents tomorrow morning!"

Wu Yun was touched and couldn’t help but squeeze Qi Fei’s slender hand in return. "Okay!"

"Wei Wu! Find the nearest liquor store! I want to buy some liquor first!" As he spoke, Wu Yun turned to Qi Fei with a smile. "I’m meeting the parents tomorrow, so I have to buy some good liquor! It wouldn’t be good if my future father-in-law decided to make things difficult for me!"

"Yes, Boss!" Wei Wu immediately picked up the car’s intercom. "Lead car! We’re changing position. Follow me!"

The Mercedes SUV driving in front flicked on its left turn signal and deftly changed lanes. The Rolls-Royce then accelerated, and in an instant, the two vehicles had swapped positions.

"Wei Wu! Wang Hao! You can both go home tomorrow. I’m giving you seven days off to start. If I don’t call, just continue your break."

As he spoke, Wu Yun sent 50,000 yuan to each of them via WeChat. "I sent you guys a red packet! A happy early New Year!"

Wu Yun then sent another 6,000 yuan transfer to Wei Wu. "Wei Wu! I won’t be able to give your kid their New Year’s money in person, so here you go."

"Thank you, Boss!"

"Thank you, President Wu!" Wang Hao was delighted. ’What a nice surprise on top of the year-end bonus!’

A rare smile even touched Wei Wu’s face.

There were no liquor stores in the commercial districts along the main road, so with Wang Hao navigating, the motorcade turned onto a street next to a large residential complex.

Traffic in Rongcheng was much lighter during the New Year holiday. The normally packed roadside parking spots were now mostly empty, with just three or four cars parked here and there.

Wu Yun’s three cars pulled into the empty spaces along the curb.

There were still quite a few pedestrians near the complex. They watched as eight people swarmed out of the three luxury cars. Among them were four big, burly foreigners—a sight not often seen in Huaxia.

Under the curious gazes of the passersby, the group of eight entered a liquor store that took up three storefronts.

Inside, a few customers were browsing for liquor and New Year’s gifts. A woman in her thirties was enthusiastically pitching different liquors to a young couple.

"Hey, handsome! Just go with this one. Two bottles come to just five hundred yuan! If you don’t bring good liquor on your first visit, your future father-in-law will probably hold it against you forever!"

Hearing the shopkeeper’s words, the young man’s girlfriend looked tempted. She didn’t say anything, however, simply linking her arm through his and waiting for him to decide.

Just then, Wu Yun’s group swarmed in. They were an eye-catching bunch and instantly drew everyone’s attention.

"Proprietor! Get me a few cases of Moutai! Hmm... let’s go with the Feitian Moutai," Wu Yun’s voice echoed through the shop.

The other customers looked surprised at first, but after taking in the spectacle of Wu Yun’s entourage, their expressions shifted to ones of understanding.

’Rich people really are different,’ they thought. ’Ordering Feitian Moutai by the case without even blinking.’

Hearing this, the shopkeeper’s face bloomed into a radiant smile. "Aiya! Right away! Please wait a moment!"

She immediately turned to the young couple. "You two take your time and choose! Just let me know when you’re ready! I have to go get his liquor!"

’Thank goodness,’ the shopkeeper thought, feeling a wave of relief. She had insisted on stocking ten cases of Feitian Moutai a while back, against everyone’s advice. ’It would have been so embarrassing if a big customer showed up and I had nothing to sell!’

"Sir, how many cases of the Feitian will you be having?" the shopkeeper asked enthusiastically.

"How many bottles are in a case?" Wu Yun didn’t actually know much about liquor. ’If I didn’t know Feitian Moutai was famous, I wouldn’t even know what to buy right now.’

"Six bottles! A standard case has six bottles! Each one is the standard 500ml size!"

The shopkeeper glanced at the bodyguards flanking Wu Yun before turning her gaze back to him. "So, sir, how many cases would you like?"

Wu Yun did a quick mental calculation. ’Let’s see... two bottles per family, and there are eight families... that’s sixteen bottles. I should get two extra cases as backup, too.’

"Alright, ma’am! I’ll take five cases to start," Wu Yun said casually.

"You got it! One moment, I’ll get them from the stockroom!" The shopkeeper said before turning and hurrying away.

Ignoring the envious stares from those around him, Wu Yun turned to Qi Fei. "Hey, does Uncle Qi normally drink?"

Qi Fei answered without hesitation. "Occasionally. He’ll have a small drink or two sometimes, but my dad’s not a heavy drinker. Xiaoyunzi! You don’t need to buy anything special for him! What you just bought is more than enough! He wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if you bought something expensive anyway!"

Seeing Qi Fei already siding with him, Wu Yun fondly stroked her hair. "It’s a gesture of my sincerity! Even if Uncle Qi doesn’t drink it, he can add it to a collection or serve it to guests later. It’s very prestigious, you know!"

The other people in the shop were stunned when they heard this. ’Feitian Moutai isn’t even considered good liquor? Then what on earth is?!’

Just then, the shopkeeper returned, pulling a dolly stacked with five cardboard boxes. The words "Feitian Moutai 53%" were printed on the sides.

"Sir! Would you like to inspect them?" the shopkeeper asked politely, looking at Wu Yun and his men.

Wu Yun was about to say it wasn’t necessary, but then he reconsidered. ’It’s better to check. These are gifts, after all. It would be a huge loss of face if there was a quality issue, wouldn’t it?’

"Wang Hao! Wei Wu! Go check them."

"Yes, Boss!" "Yes, President Wu!"

Ignoring the two men opening the boxes, Wu Yun turned to the slightly overwhelmed shopkeeper. "Ma’am, do you have any really good liquor? I’m talking about the aged, collector’s edition kind."

The shopkeeper’s eyes lit up. "Sir! Are you looking for Moutai, Wuliangye, or something else?"

Wu Yun pondered for a moment. "Either is fine. Let’s stick to Moutai and Wuliangye. Don’t bother with any brands I wouldn’t have heard of."

"Then please wait a moment! I need to call my husband. We don’t keep those bottles in the shop. I’ll ask him what we have!" After speaking, the shopkeeper picked up her phone and made the call.

"Hey! Brother Ping! I’ve got a customer here who wants to buy some aged liquor! Tell him what we’ve got, and give him the prices! I’m putting you on speakerphone!"

As she said this, she switched her phone to speaker mode.

"Sir! What’s the price of your best Moutai? And how old is it?" Wu Yun asked, taking the phone.

"Er... hello, sir! The best we have are two bottles of thirty-year-old Moutai. They’re priced at 20,000 yuan a bottle!" the husband on the phone said after a slight cough, dropping the bombshell price.

Without a second thought, Wu Yun agreed. "Done! I’ll take both bottles. Do you have anything else?"

"The rest are some ten-year and fifteen-year Moutais! Would you be interested, sir? The ten-year is 5,000 a bottle, and I have ten of those. The fifteen-year is 8,000 a bottle, and I have five left." The shop owner quoted the inflated prices with some trepidation, suddenly regretting that he hadn’t quoted an even higher price for the thirty-year-old bottles.

"I’ll take them all. Bring them over now!" Wu Yun didn’t even bother to negotiate. He was suddenly reminded of the empty wine cabinet in his new villa, and with his collector’s interest piqued, he decided to simply buy out the store’s entire high-end stock.

"You got it! I’ll be there in ten minutes!"

The shopkeeper’s face was flushed with excitement. "Sir, is there anything else you might need?!"

Wu Yun glanced around at the other products in the shop, then shook his head. "No, that’s all for now. Just tally up the bill for us when your husband gets here."

Seeing that a spectacle was unfolding, none of the other customers were in a hurry to leave.

Just then, Wang Hao and Wei Wu returned to Wu Yun’s side. Wang Hao reported, "President Wu, we’ve inspected everything according to the verification procedures online, and I scanned the barcodes. They’re all authentic."

Wu Yun nodded. "Good."

A few minutes later, the sound of screeching brakes was heard outside. A silver Wuling Hongguang minivan had pulled up to the entrance. A slightly chubby man in his forties got out, pulled open the side door, and shouted, "Honey! Quick, come give me a hand!"

The pudgy man pulled a flatbed dolly from the van and set it on the ground.

Hearing his call, the shopkeeper ran out. The two of them carefully lifted the boxes of liquor from the van and placed them on the dolly.

They brought out three large boxes and one small one, then pulled the dolly into the shop.
