The CEO-maid of the Reborn company proudly announced that they had reached their milestone for the sixth and penultimate day of the Feast.

“We earned a total of 234 million tokens!”

The Rebornians were immediately ecstatic once they’d heard this. It was as if this news was the silver lining that they’d been waiting for after what had occurred in New Sparta.

“Young Master, thanks to Fenix’s final appearance, we were able to go past our expectations of 150 million tokens by a long shot. We almost doubled it, even!”

In another timeline, if things had progressed normally and the Ersatz organization hadn’t attacked New Sparta, then they could have probably reached the 300 million token sale quite easily. They’d probably even go up to 400!

However, all things considered, Michael was just glad that they were able to catch up to the top 10.

Thanks to this result, they had grazed past 10th place and actually achieved 9th place! This was a momentous achievement that would probably be the most talked-about topic if it weren’t for the obvious Ersatz attack.

They had done it! Michael went over to Tony and Remy. The Father and Son chef duo were hugging each other in tears.

It was a cathartic moment for them, after having worked themselves to the bone these last few days. Add in the fact that they could have lost their lives in the attack, their emotions were therefore greatly enhanced.

“Take a break. You’ve earned it,” he said to the group of chefs.

But instead, they all looked at him with fiery eyes. “What are you saying boss? We still have the last day left!”

“Yeah! No way we’re going to lift our feet off the pedal now that we’re so close!”

Michael’s eyebrow raised. “So close to what?”

“First place!” Remy shouted. Even the little now-grown-up chef was surprised with his own outburst. “We can do it, bro Mike. We can definitely beat those Conglomerates and Upper Echelons!”

Tony put a hand on Michael’s shoulders. “This is a matter of pride for us, Michael. To be honest, even though you told me to stay behind and keep myself to the buildings, I couldn’t help but go outside while the attack was happening.”

The old chef’s eyes turned emotional. “I saw them, Michael. I saw people running away in fear as those Monsters hunted them down. And they didn’t go down without a fight.

They fought, even though they knew they couldn’t win. And you know the reason why they did that? It’s because they believed that our products could help them.

They ate our Chocolate Ice Creams and Fried Chicken while screaming curses at the Monster.”

Michael looked around the room and saw the Shadow Orcs all nodding their heads in admiration.

They had been in charge of saving people in the background. And they, too, witnessed the moments when brave warriors and even farmers raised up their weapons and rakes and fought against the Monsters to keep them off the civilians.

They heard as these people recited what they saw during the Exhibition Tournament, about how even a cripple could reach the finals, all through the chocolate ice cream. They were inspired!

Their products not just helped people physically. It also helped them mentally.

And because of that, Tony, Remy, and the other chefs responsible for creating those products were also inspired.

They saw how much the public needed Chocolate Ice Creams. They couldn’t disappoint them now. And so, despite their bodies almost failing them, they knew that they had to go through with this last day of the Feast and bring out the best products that they could!

“That’s…”

Michael’s eyes widened. It was at that moment that he felt something deep inside his heart. Something hot. Fiery. It felt as if there was a sun churning inside his chest.

But instead of feeling burnt and uncomfortable, this sun instead brought him warmth. It brought him peace. Comfort.

There and then, he understood. He was advancing to the second stage of the Nascent Spirit realm.

He looked down, seeing the solid piece of GodForge core that replaced his heart. It was glowing red hot, becoming more liquid as the time passed.

“What… what’s happening?”

Everyone around Michael felt that same comfortable heat. It was as if they were sitting in front of a hearth in the middle of a winter snowstorm. It was the light they needed in the middle of darkness. A silver lining.

And even though they didn’t know what was happening, they knew deep down inside that they were being protected. As long as they were beside Michael, then they didn’t have to worry about anything else.

Michael nodded his head. That was his Nascent Influence.

He figured out how to do it. He figured out his own specialty. It was comfort in the middle of change.

Yes, he was the Harbinger of the Future. He was the usher of change. But change often always came with uncomfortability, with pain, and maybe even suffering.

But with his help, no one had to suffer. No one had to feel pain. That was his specialty. That was why he had always wanted everyone to be comfortable.

And now that he had fully understood that, he could finally tap into that Nascent Influence that had been inside him this whole time.

It was only now that he understood the importance of being a Nascent Spirit cultivator.

He could literally change reality. He could make it so that there was no pain in the middle of change. For it to be comforting.

A tree needed to be cut down in order to build a house, possibly creating deforestation that would destroy the environment and the lives living inside it. But what if that wasn’t what happened? What if cutting down that tree would actually benefit the environment?

He could do that. How? Because he can.

That was the power of a Nascent Spirit cultivator!

It was at that moment that golden particles started to flow out of his skin. Nanoparticles. It was his Nascent Armor, now fully able to envelop his entire body.
