Reborn In A Cultivation World With All Cheat Abilities
Chapter 184: I Don’t Run From FightsThe entire garden was split into three groups of people all engaging in separate conversations when a loud sound of a horn tore through the entire space. Forcing everyone to halt their speech and turn towards the gate.
Standing in between the threshold that connects the rest of the village to the garden, was a bright red haired young man, wearing a black robe with gold embroidery. There was a little stubble on his chin, suggesting that he had grown a beard in the short time that they had been apart.
The going man held a small horn in his hand and wore the brightest smile on his face, he stood alone, suggesting he came by himself.
"Talk about a grand entrance eh." Light announced, sparking confusion in the expressions of everyone standing around the garden.
"Dramatic as ever." Jacob muttered in a low breath, watching Light start to move towards him, not a single twitch on the smile that was almost permanently plastered on his face.
"My friend Jacob, I ran over here as soon as I saw your letter." Light said, stretching forth a hand so shake Jacob’s hand.
He caught wind of Xenia and immediately pivoted without waiting for a response from Jacob. "Xenia. You look amazing. How have you been." He exclaimed as he hugged the woman without even asking for permission.
"I’m doing good Light, good to see you." Xenia said in the bluntest voice ever, her eyes screaming at Jacob to help her from this testosterone filled predator that was clawing at her, but the young man didn’t even bat an eye. Punishment for all the things she made him do on the way here.
Jacob was relieved that Light hadn’t brought anyone along, he knew how closely knit he and Anissa were, so he was happy that she decided to stay back for her own safety.
"You didn’t bring your lover." Jacob turned back to face Light, his words alerting the young man to separate himself from Xenia.
"Yeah, and she wasn’t too happy about it either. Trust me, it took a lot of convincing before she let me go. It’s overwhelming sometimes you know—"
"What an odd character!" Alaric barged in again, interrupting Light’s drivel, he had a confused smile on his face as he quickly realized the young man looked nothing like the Primarch of Wutherhorn, or at least how he remembered.
"Mr Ironfell sir—Patriarch, it’s an honor sir." Light nearly stumbled over his own words, but he was confident to look the man in the eye, although he was not as tall as him. He stretched forth a hand, supported by his other hand.
Alaric made a ’is that so?’ face as he took Light’s hand in a firm handshake, turning to Jacob, who nodded back at him. "I like him already."
Light grinned proudly.
"I take it you’re here to support our small party." Alaric said, his expression stiffening into a more serious one. "Try not to get hurt boy."
"Yes sir, I will do my best, would also love to see you in action sir."
"You know, I used to know your father." Alaric said, looking up as though he were reminiscing on some very good moments that occurred in his past. He was not one to gloat, but the memory of beating the Primarch at his own game brought a genuine smile to his face.
"Really?" Light asked, their hands were finally separated now and they just stood within comfortable distance of each other. Jacob watched, he didn’t want to force himself into the conversation so he just decided to stay quiet until it was necessary for him to speak.
"Oh yeah, he was a haughty man for sure. Well, at least until I humbled him during one of those celebratory gladiator games that’s part of your tradition." Alaric said with his head high, in that moment, there was nothing higher than Alaric’s head in the entire garden.
Light’s eyes were gleaming, it brought him great satisfaction that someone beat his father in a physical contest, albeit it was a very long time ago, it still made him bubbly inside.
It made him believe it was possible for even him to reach those heights.
"Anyways, give it your all my boys." Alaric said, pulling Light out of his own head and patting he and Jacob’s shoulders before excusing himself gracefully.
"Wow, you didn’t tell me your grandfather was so cool, and handsome too." Light said, his eyes still had a faint hint of a spark in them, the spark of someone that had just met his role model and had decided it was worth every struggle.
"He takes after me." Jacob said with a straight face, but his words were too funny that Light burst into laughter. Neither Esty, nor the rest of the Elder Covenant were bothered enough about Light’s presence to want to speak to him. They still stood around the tree, conversing with Yggros, that was all there was to do until the action began.
"That’s enough Light, we need to get to the matter at hand, play time is over. This is the Demon King we’re talking about, one misstep and it’s over, we will all probably die." Jacob grabbed a hold of Light’s shoulders and spoke to him in a serious tone, letting him know how dire the situation was, and there was no room to dilly-dally anymore.
"You’re right—You’re right. Sorry, so what’s the plan. How do we ensure that we win this battle." Light responded, his own expression stiffening.
"I’ve already come up with a plan that guarantees success, all you have to do is play your part. Morbius might show up with a couple of high-level demons, I hope you can step up and defeat them."
Light pulled his sword out of the sheath and brandished it. It was a new blade, clearly made by a seasoned blacksmith. It had a black and white leather handle, as per request, and the blade was pristine, clean in a way that would suggest it had never tasted the blood of a worthy foe.
The young man looked up at Jacob, the glint in his eye had faded into pure determination and anger.
"I don’t run from fights."
