He slowly stood up from his desk and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the hidden cove below.

Down at the docks, oblivious workers continued hoisting massive steel shipping containers onto a cargo vessel as though it were any other ordinary day. Several heavily armed private mercenaries strolled along the piers on routine patrol.

On the surface, everything appeared completely normal. Yet, for the first time since taking command of the facility, Hector Vaughn felt a chill run down his spine.

"How many shipments are currently stored on this island?" Hector Vaughn suddenly demanded.

The subordinate immediately recited the inventory from memory.

"Three, Sir. One shipment is scheduled to depart tomorrow night. The second shipment is held in storage awaiting the next transport vessel. And..." The subordinate hesitated briefly. "...the third shipment arrived just yesterday."

Hector Vaughn slowly closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose as frustration mounted.

"What is the current status of the research division?" Hector Vaughn asked more.

"They are actively conducting live experiments. No abnormalities or breaches have been reported." The subordinate stated.

Hector Vaughn remained silent for an agonising moment before issuing sharp, decisive directives.

"Immediately suspend every ongoing experiment." Hector Vaughn ordered coldly.

"What? Sir? Terminate everything?" The subordinate looked completely stunned.

"I said suspend every single experiment!" Hector Vaughn repeated, his tone leaving zero room for argument.

"Yes, Sir!" The subordinate bowed his head, then quickly sought clarification. "What should we do regarding the laboratories?"

"Seal every laboratory block immediately. Absolutely no unauthorised personnel are allowed entry." Hector Vaughn commanded.

"And the research staff?" The subordinate asked.

"Gather every senior researcher inside Building Three. I want them fully prepped and ready for emergency evacuation within two hours." Hector Vaughn stated.

"Evacuation?" The subordinate’s heart skipped a heavy beat.

Hector Vaughn slowly turned around, his piercing gaze locking onto his subordinate.

"For the first time in years... I have a deeply unsettling feeling about this. If the Lee Family has truly collapsed, our primary supply line has already been severed. Our financial channels will soon be frozen and audited. Our offshore shell companies will be systematically traced. Our shipping manifests will be scrutinized by state investigators. It won’t take long before someone follows the breadcrumbs directly to this island." Hector Vaughn explained.

"Sir... should we notify Headquarters immediately?" The subordinate swallowed hard, cold anxiety rising in his chest.

"No." Hector Vaughn shook his head flatly.

"...Sir?" The subordinate blinked in confusion.

"If Headquarters learns that I allowed our primary regional supply network to completely collapse, my head will be the very first one to roll." Hector Vaughn said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "So before sending a formal report... I intend to resolve this disaster myself. Find out who leaked our operational details. I want names. I don’t care whether the breach came from the Lee Family, state intelligence, or a traitor within our own organisation. I want whoever did this brought to me alive."

"Yes, Sir!" The subordinate bowed deeply. "What about the remaining test subjects currently in holding?"

Hector Vaughn’s expression turned ruthlessly dark.

"Transfer every high-value specimen down into the deep underground facility. As for the disposable ones..." Hector Vaughn paused, his voice dropping into a lethal chill. "...eliminate them."

The subordinate’s pupils contracted in shock. "Sir, do you mean... all of them?"

"I have no intention of leaving a single living witness behind for the authorities." Hector Vaughn stated flatly.

"Understood, Sir." The subordinate nodded.

Even though he answered instantly, a cold, nervous sweat had completely soaked through his shirt. Even after serving under Hector Vaughn’s command for years, casual mass-execution orders like these still made his stomach churn.

"Dismissed. Go." Hector Vaughn ordered.

The subordinate quickly bowed and hurried out of the office.

The heavy door snapped shut behind him.

Throughout the entire confrontation, Yu Qi and Long Hui had been standing right beside the desk. Still completely hidden beneath Aoi’s Invisible Mode, Yu Qi’s face grew extraordinarily dark, her hands clenching into tight fists until her knuckles turned white. They had heard every single detail and every merciless order Hector Vaughn had issued.

She had always known the MicroTech Organization was inherently cruel and inhumane, but she had never expected them to so casually order the mass murder of kidnapped human beings simply to erase potential physical evidence.

"They are moving the high-value children..." Yu Qi whispered urgently through their mental link. "...and preparing to murder everyone else they deem useless."

"We don’t have much time." Long Hui’s dark eyes turned equally razor-sharp and cold.

"They have officially entered emergency liquidation protocol." Yu Qi replied. "If we wait until nightfall or wait for outside backup, those innocent victims would not survive."

"Make them all sleep for a while." Long Hui stated aloud in a soft voice.

Yu Qi looked at him in slight surprise. "You mean?"

Long Hui reached over and gently flicked Yu Qi’s forehead with a faint smile.

"I don’t mean killing them. I am suggesting you use your specialised drugs to completely neutralise the base. Render them entirely immobile. Better yet, knock every single operative unconscious." Long Hui explained his plan.

"Ah! Once the entire island is paralysed, we can transmit the exact coordinates to the state authorities so they can launch a marine rescue operation, liberate the victims, and take every operative into custody!" Yu Qi’s eyes lit up as she instantly grasped his tactical reasoning.

"Mhm." Long Hui nodded in total agreement.

"Let me step out of this office first." Yu Qi whispered.

Long Hui nodded silently.

They casually turned the door handle and slipped out into the corridor. Hearing the distinct metallic click of the latch, Hector Vaughn snapped his head up and stared directly at the doorway.
