"RAAAAGGHHHH!!!"

The crystal beast let out a mad roar that made the hair on Adrian’s skin stand on end. Moments later, dozens of towering crystal spikes erupted from the ground.

Adrian jumped back just in time to dodge the spike, but the beast’s paw struck him while he was in mid-air.

"-Guh!"

The impact threw him back several meters before his back crashed into the metal fence of the field.

’Shit...’

He had tilted his body at the last moment to lessen the impact of the blow, but it still felt as though his bones were on the verge of breaking.

’If even a single blow from that beast properly connects, then we might die.’

As Adrian struggled to get back to his feet, the beast shifted its focus to Evangeline and Xion.

Evangeline was in the process of preparing another attack, so Xion rushed to engage with the beast to buy her the time she needed.

By now, Adrian and Saria had gotten back on their feet and were already rushing towards the beast. Crystal spikes kept erupting from the ground, but the two of them were able to dodge them with precision.

Xion was much more efficient than they were in their exchange with the beast, dodging just in time to avoid the deadly blows from the beast’s paws and counterattacking at the same time.

Though he didn’t seem to match the two of them in terms of attack power, he hadn’t really done much damage to the beast besides a few negligible scratches.

A platinum chain suddenly wrapped around the beast’s back legs, only to shatter moments later. Saria materialized a platinum spear in her hand. Covering her body and the spear in silver energy, she pulled it back and threw the spear towards the beast.

The spear streaked through the air like a silver comet and struck the beast near the spine. However, the spear’s tip was all that managed to penetrate the crystal beast, seemingly not having done much damage.

Moments later, the silver spear dissipated into wisps of mana as Saria rushed at the beast with a large platinum greatsword in her hand.

Adrian came from the side, his blade covered in starlit black energy. But unlike Saria and Xion’s attacks, the beast dodged the strikes from his blade.

Despite its size, the beast was extremely nimble.

’Not good, it has learned that my attacks can bypass its natural defenses.’

Just then, Evangeline’s shout came from behind once again.

"Out of the way!"

The three of them quickly jumped back the moment they heard her warning. And as they did, Evangeline fired the attack she had prepared toward the beast.

But just as the attack was about to hit, a crystal spike suddenly shot out from the ground, and the attack collided with it. The spike was shattered, but it still managed to block the attack.

The beast let out another deafening roar.

Moments later, mana began gathering above in the sky and began condensing into large crystal rocks. There were several dozen of them. The crystal rocks began falling towards them one after another.

The four of them scattered in different directions, trying their best to dodge the falling crystal rocks.

But the beast didn’t make things any easier for them, attacking whoever was closest to it. They had to constantly dodge the falling crystal rocks while watching out for the beast’s attacks.

Adrian shouted at the top of his lungs.

"The attacks from the crystal beast are the most devastating! If you get hit by even a single blow properly, then you will be rendered unable to fight at the very least!"

He gritted his teeth.

’Things can’t go on like this.’

Their stamina had a limit, and the exhaustion was beginning to show. After casting two of those attacks, Evangeline wouldn’t have much mana left. She probably won’t be able to manage more than two or three of those attacks. And that much didn’t seem to be able to bring the crystal beast down.

In the end, his space attacks seemed to be the most effective.

’I guess I need to change things.’

He called out to his teammates once again.

"I have an attack that can end this! But I can only use it once and will run out of mana afterwards! Create an opening for me; we have to make sure that attack connects!"

If Adrian were to cast a space implosion while using up the entirety of his mana reserves, then that attack would surely be powerful enough to end the crystal beast. But if the beast were to dodge that attack, then that would be a horrible outcome.

It would leave Adrian unable to fight due to running out of mana, which would increase the burden on the other three. It was a gamble, but if Adrian didn’t make this choice, then they would eventually exhaust themselves at this rate.

Xion, Saria, and Evangeline all nodded.

Saria abandoned the platinum greatsword and materialized thick platinum chains. Moments later, those chains wrapped around the crystal beast’s neck. Saria pulled on the chains while gritting her teeth, as if trying her best to keep the beast in place.

But of course, this time was different from the two-headed black serpent they had fought during their journey. There was a massive strength gap between the crystal beast and the duke’s daughter. There was no way she could restrain it on her own.

But she was not alone.

Evangeline cast the Ruler of Elements spell, and the water crown above her head changed.

And as that happened, two massive stone arms suddenly shot out from the ground right beneath the crystal beast. They hugged the creature in a tight embrace, keeping it in place. The beast struggled fiercely to free itself, and cracks began appearing on the stone arms.

Just then, Xion jumped onto the beast’s face. Using his two shortswords, he slashed the only weak point in the beast’s body.

The eyes.

The beast screamed in pain as colorless, translucent blood began pouring from its eyes. Losing its vision, the beast began attacking frantically with its paws.

By then, Adrian was done casting the starlit black sphere. A sense of weakness washed over him as his mana reserves ran dry. But he clenched his teeth and shot the sphere straight towards the crystal beast’s head.

The moment the sphere collided with the beast’s face, it expanded several times in size, covering the entirety of the beast’s head. Then, suddenly, the black sphere vanished into nothingness, taking the beast’s entire head with it.

Colorless translucent blood began pouring out from the neck like a river. The crystal beast’s now headless body collapsed onto the ground.

The four of them breathed heavily as they stared at the crystal beast’s corpse. All of them were covered in sweat.

Saria looked to be in the worst shape, supporting herself with a platinum axe, trying her best not to collapse. Her navy blue hair was sticking to her face because of the sweat, and she looked extremely exhausted.

Evangeline also seemed to have pushed herself by the end.

The one who seemed to be in the best shape was Xion. He continued to smile as he stared at the beast’s headless corpse.

Adrian let out a tired sigh.

’It’s over...’
