Reincarnated as a Lizard

"What is the dragon doing?"

"I don’t know... Maybe trying to leave the dungeon?"

Watching Scaly’s struggle trying to fit through the exit, two of the adventurers quickly picked up on what was happening and voiced their thoughts out loud. Drawing the attention of everyone, including Verdell, who in turn was left speechless at the sight of the dragon that had ended up stuck trying to force her way through the door that was clearly far too small for a dragon her size.

"Maybe, but from the looks of it, this dragon might be a bit too big to fit through the exit." Nodding his head in agreement with the two adventurers as he also saw what was obvious, the leader who had been chatting with Verdell shifted his attention back towards the dwarf again. "Personally, I would recommend just waiting here with us until a senior from the guild shows up. Given how long we have already been in here, it shouldn’t be more than a few hours." Giving his personal advice for what to do. Understanding that there was little to no chance a monster tamer would just leave behind their tamed monster. Especially when the monster in question was a dragon.

"That..." Hearing this, Verdell had no idea how to respond. Knowing that it wouldn’t be good for them to stay behind, but at the same time also knowing that it might not be a good idea to let this be known. "Indeed, we could stay but I doubt she wants to stay even if I tried to convince her..." In the end, shifting the blame for wanting to leave towards Scaly, who so clearly showed her intent to leave the dungeon.

"True... That dragon of yours does really look like it wants nothing more than to leave this place. Understandable, though the size makes it hard to accomplish this goal of hers." Not finding anything off with what Verdell said as Scaly was rather obvious in her determination to leave the Swirling Sands Dungeon, the leader just nodded his head with a hint of pity in his eyes.

Clearly, he was feeling bad for the situation Verdell found himself in having to try and convince his tamed monster to stop what she was doing.

Although he understood this, Verdell didn’t have any plans of trying to stop Scaly trying to squeeze through the far too small door. In fact, he wanted to lend her a hand in pushing her from behind to try and help her squeeze through the tight opening.

Unfortunately, doing that would undoubtedly look odd to the surrounding adventurers, so he didn’t do it and instead just made his way over to the dragon who had clearly ended up getting completely stuck while trying to wedge herself through the door leading out of the dungeon.

In an odd turn of events, this was the most precarious situation Scaly had ever found herself in, as she was essentially defenseless in her current situation and could only tr to wiggle her large body in an attempt to push herself through the seemingly indestructible door that showed not the slightest crack or damage even with a dragon like herself wiggling around without holding back in the slightest.

As for what Scaly saw on the other side, as she had gone straight in through the door... That was an endless expanse of darkness in all directions around her with a bright light at the end that should lead out of the dungeon.

The only positive to her current situation was the fact that the door didn’t just cut off the passage whenever it changed to a new endpoint every few minutes.

If it had really done that, she would have already been severed in half with no real way to do anything about it other than praying her strong vitality would allow her to survive missing half her body...

Her rich imagination on how that kind of half dragon life would aside, Scaly was still doing everything in her power to wiggle and continue squeezing through the doorway. Having already gotten hallway there by now. Meaning giving up now would take the same effort as it would to just continue her struggle.

By now, a little over five minutes had passed since she dove headfirst into the door without properly assessing her own size compared to the tight doorway. Resulting in Verdell standing by her side watching the slow progress taking place, being far from the only one around watching her comical struggle trying to fit through the door.

Not only had the other adventurers gathered around to see how things were doing, but the bath spirits and their elemental counterparts had also gathered around alongside the adventurers, though... The reason they had gathered around was more so because her large movements caused small waves that splashed the water in the pool that the door was in to wash over the edge of the pool. Forcing these spirits to work hard using their water magic to fill in the missing water.

"Should we try and give her a push...?" And as it became obvious that Scaly had no intention of giving up on her struggle to fit through the door, one of the adventurers who had been watching the entire thing couldn’t help speaking up after a grand total of ten minutes had passed. Feeling bad for her and wanting to lend a hand so she could get through the door faster.

After all, though it was entertaining to watch and one of the adventurers had even taken advantage of the waves she created to entertain himself by suffering up and down a wooden plank that had once been part of the ceiling they had crashed through, she was still blocking their only escape path in case the dungeon guardian construct found them again.

"That... Is a good idea, better than doing nothing."

"Yeah, I’m fine with lending the little- or rather big one a hand. What do you think, Verdell was it?"

"I’m fine with it, there is no convincing that one to stop what she’s doing anyway..." Hearing the suggestion from one of the adventurers followed by another asking for his approval to help Scaly, Verdell slowly nodded his head in agreement after seemingly contemplating their words for a bit. Not showing the slightest sign of just how happy he was internally hearing this.

During the past few minutes, he had attempted to convince Scaly to turn around and push herself back out, but the door seemed to have completely isolated sound from outside. Making it impossible for her to hear what he said- or that was at least what he told the adventurers, as he just wanted to have them lend a hand like they were now suggesting.

Although he had at first wanted to rely on Scaly pushing herself through on her own without any outside help, it had become clear over the last ten minutes that she wasn’t getting through on her own. Having essentially made little to no progress after reaching the halfway point.

"Good, we will just push while one of the mages apply a simple gliding spell to hopefully make it easier to push her through." Hearing his approval, the one who had suggested they help out the stuck dragon smiled kindly before motioning towards one of the mages who quickly moved to help while another three adventurers walked over to lend a hand in pushing Scaly through the doorway.

Together with Verdell and the other adventurer, there was a grand total of six people helping push Scaly through the door, five doing the hard work of pushing from behind, while the last used magic to hopefully make the entire process smoother.

"Push! Get this dragon through!"

"""Haaa!"""

Whoosh~

And with a loud yell, the group of five pushed Scaly from behind with all their strength. Startling the dragon in question immensely at the sudden unexpected force from behind- not that she intended to waste this opportunity, as she clearly felt herself moving forward. Using every bit of her strength to wiggle through the last bit of the doorway before finally successfully getting through. Slamming headfirst into the bright light leading out of the dungeon on the other side of the doorway.

"Looks like I will have to get going before the endpoint changes again. Thanks for the help, everyone!" And knowing he didn’t have much time to waste as the exit point could change at any second, Verdell only gave a brief goodbye before rushing forward to chase after the dragon who had already disappeared.

"Haha, no problem, you are more than welcome to come find me at the headquarters in the future."

"Me too! Hopefully I will have a lot of free time when this damnable task finally comes to an end."

"Bye, bye~"

Barely hearing the words of some of the adventurers behind him as he finally reached the light on the other side of the door and found his vision blurring as he was transported out of the dungeon following behind Scaly.
