Moving through the narrow catacomb tunnel leading in the direction of the undead kingdom, a certain unnamed necromancer found herself becoming increasingly nervous with each passing minute. Aware that the longer it took her to take control of the undead kingdom, the worse her chance of getting out of the swirling sands dungeon alive would become.
Difficult as it might be for the adventurers descending to help the group of SS Rank Adventurers following the expansion of the dungeon, they would inevitably end up completely sealing off the exit before moving to comb through the entire dungeon. Inevitably getting to the undead kingdom that they might even take down in an attempt to find her, something she couldn’t allow to happen as her only realistic way of getting out of her current situation was her taking control of that undead kingdom and leveraging its strength to force her way to the exit.
From start to finish, she didn’t even think about fighting back against the adventurers who would start showing up within the swirling sands dungeon. Understanding she would get killed off with ease even if she ended up becoming a lich herself. After all, there was a reason why the liches behind the Eternal Life Sanctum hid away and didn’t dare face the Adventurers Guild head on even with their seemingly endless undead armies.
The one positive to her long journey through the catacomb tunnel being that she at least had some time to try and study the skeletons that had been buried within the catacombs. Allowing her to note down the unique structure and methods used by the ancient necromancers who should have come up with the internal structure of those skeletons. Knowing that these skeletons were bound to never leave the dungeon now that they had fallen under her command.
In fact, it wasn’t just this growing army of catacomb skeletons that were unlikely to make it out of the swirling sands dungeon. Even the bone construct that was by far her most powerful tools and at the same time also something she had spent years constructing stood a low chance of making it out in one piece.
Just thinking about it made her feel depressed, as her focus shattered for a brief second before she focused back on her dark surroundings. "I won’t be able to fight anything in this kind of state." And in the process also realized just how exhausted she was after everything she had gone through.
From managing a large scale war against a dungeon core that had lasted days without ending before she found herself clashing with the mist serpent surpassing the SS Rank and all the way up in a life and death situation of ending up on the newly created ninth floor where she once again had to struggle for survival before having her prized bone construct permanently damaged by the insidious plot of those adventurers.
Everything that had happened had understandably left her in an extremely exhausted state.
"Hm... Going by the general distance between my current location and the undead kingdom, I Should at least have another four to six hours before I get within the boundaries of the undead kingdom at my current speed dragging this army of skeletons along." Muttering this to herself as she couldn’t take her mind off the exhaustion that had started spreading throughout her body, it didn’t take long before she gave out a general command. Instructing the skeletons and the bone construct beneath her to continue marching forward at their current speed.
Remembering to add another command on top of that for the bone construct beneath her, having it wake her up the second something unexpected happened or the tunnel itself changed away from its current appearance.
And with instructions in place, she didn’t fight back the sleepiness and exhaustion that had rapidly spread throughout her body and allowed herself to drift away while the skeleton army under her command continued marching forward. Making sure to make herself as comfortable as she could on top the bone construct that wasn’t exactly the most comfortable familiar to sleep on top of.
Luckily for her, the sleepiness and exhaustion made sure she wouldn’t feel much, as she essentially drifted off to dreamland the second she closed her eyes.
Bad of a choice doing something like this was, she at least had the protection of a skeleton army along with being hidden away underground. Making it unlikely for her to encounter any real danger while she slept.
At the same time, this little sleep would allow her to recover fully before the deadly life and death struggle that stood before her in her last-ditch attempt to escape from the dungeon alive. Understanding very well, just how difficult this would be along with just how detrimental it would be for her to make the attempt at escaping from the dungeon in her current state.
...
Unknown to the sleepy little necromancer hidden underground alongside her newly formed skeleton army, a new figure emerged through the recently established spiral staircase connecting the eighth floor of the dungeon to the newly constructed ninth floor. "Looks like the swirling sands dungeon did really end up expanding. Haaa... If not for the Eternal Life Sanctum being involved in some way, I doubt I would have been the one sent down here..." And from his somewhat annoyed tone and the visible frown on his face, it was clear he wasn’t thrilled about being here.
Whoosh~
Still, after a quick glance around the place he had ended up, he didn’t waste any time and directly set off in the direction of the adventurer team that was still alive somewhere inside the dungeon.
Although he hadn’t learnt much beyond the involvement of necromancers from the Eternal Life Sanctum thanks to a few necromancers that had been running around helplessly on the seventh floor of the dungeon, every team of adventurers doing a task like the one the now trapped group of adventures ended up with, had a special artifact that allowed someone like himself to instantly lock onto their general position within a dungeon floor.
Ensuring that whenever something happened and the group that had originally went in to solve a problem ended up needing a hand, he, or someone similar, would be able to easily track them down.
