Reincarnated As The Heroes Guide

It didn’t take long before there were three different teams of ten heroes ready to try out the new Ogre Dungeon, all eager to find out which of them could do it the fastest.

They could wait for the first team to get back, and then they would know for sure how it was supposed to be done, and what it looked like inside.

But where was the fun in that?

Competition gave them something other than existential dread to look forward to, so everyone who had a team assembled in time headed right into the dungeon, even though many of them had just finished a patrol rotation.

That was just human nature, as far as Kalli could tell.

When things got to their most desperate, people would cling to anything that distracted them from whatever horrors might come in the future, opting instead to live in the moment.

The dungeons were there to be cleared, and they gave rewards.

A pure dopamine hit.

Some of the lower level groups headed for the Goblin Dungeon, to see what it was like, and what sort of rewards it would give. They hadn’t had time to do it since the dungeon formed, so it was all new territory, and had promise of giving decent rewards, even though it was nominally only two levels higher than the Rat King dungeon.

Goblins weren’t really likely to have good things on them, but the heroes had no idea what the setting was going to be.

If it was based on Marimgar, there might be resources that they could recover and bring out with them.

Getting their hands on a Dungeon version of some of the supplies that were stored in the city would be amazing for the heroes, especially as it was an easier one, at only level three, with Goblins as the enemy.

The Ogre Dungeon teams were back suspiciously quickly, Kalli thought.

It hadn’t even been an hour and the first team was back in the Hall of Heroes, looking a bit haggard but pleased with themselves.

"Well, the setting for the Ogre dungeon is not our battle with the Ogres.

It’s set somewhere in a forest, with clear paths between groups of Ogres. You just have to sneak up on them and ambush them without the other groups noticing. They won’t come unless you cast a spell above the tree lines or step into sight from what we can tell.

They didn’t come even when one of our members got his leg broken and started screaming.

Don’t worry, he’s fine, we healed him.

He’ll be sore for the rest of the day, but with this level of magic, the bone is fully mended, and it’s just lingering pain, not actual injury.

The goal is to head through the forest down the paths, kill about twenty groups of Ogres, then assassinate the Ogre Lord.

There are some of those two-headed, magic using ones. But we didn’t see more than one in a group, so you can focus on them from the start."

"Alright, that is good news. What did you get from the run?"

"Nothing too impressive. One Rare Grade sword, and a bunch of uncommon grade items. It doesn’t let you bring the Ogre corpses out, so you can’t disassemble them here at the hall."

"That’s a shame. We could have used the loot. But supplies are supplies, it will all come in useful sooner or later," Kalli agreed.

Before the first group had left, the next two were inside, taking seats, and looking expectantly at the bubble tea machine.

"Fine, take a load off, and I will get you a treat.

Did any of you encounter anything odd? I know that you’re comparing notes, and I want a copy of them to put them in the records."

The healers shook their heads. "No, the group composition appears to be identical for all of our trips, as does the layout of the dungeon. I don’t believe that it’s random or variable.

None of us got an Epic Grade item, but one group didn’t get any Rare Grade items either, and ended up with more Uncommon Grade items instead. There were food drops upon completion in one case, but nothing in the dungeon could be removed, other than the rewards."

"Perfect. Now we’re just waiting on the heroes in the Goblin King Dungeon. They’ve all got stronger leadership with them, so it should be fine.

If it’s not too challenging, I will have the lower level heroes go on their own after this, perhaps just with a stronger healer. Not many of the heroes who advanced from commoner got cleric or other advanced healing classes, unfortunately."

Kalli frowned, but one of the healers elaborated.

"It’s not that none of them have the potential, there are a lot of trained nurses in the city. But none of them have reached level one yet. I think that we might be the issue. You see, with everyone safely hiding inside, and the heroes healing with magic, they’re not getting the work experience that they need to advance.

So, they’re stuck at level zero, attending to mostly empty medical facilities all day."

Kalli’s frown turned to understanding as she saw the issue. "Well, that’s easy enough to sort out. I will send out a message letting everyone know that the new medical facilities are online, since the nurses are already there.

They might not know all the medicine, but if we have a few actual healers with them for major stuff, they can still do most of the job, with the help of the advanced medical tools.

They can also take care of all the little issues that the people have been hiding, so they didn’t feel like they were a burden."

The heroes laughed. Trying to get everyone to come in for a checkup or to have a minor issue treated was going to be an issue. None of them actually knew what Kalli’s new medical facilities could do, but logic said that they were still short on medicine, and that meant there was no real reason to go and confirm what was wrong with you.
