Reincarnated With The Degenerate System
Chapter 278: Taking Everything Back Part 3The openings weren’t slowing down.
I had cleared the field twice over and the hive was still producing, each cycle pulling from something deeper, something I couldn’t reach from out here.
I ran the numbers and didn’t like the conclusion.
There was no version of this where I stayed outside and won. I could keep killing them for hours and the hive would keep replacing them, and eventually the difference between my army’s endurance and the hive’s production rate would settle the question on its own.
My soldiers were strong. They were not infinite.
The hive apparently was.
I stopped fighting and stood still for a moment.
The aliens nearest to me slowed. They had learned enough by now to be cautious when I stopped moving. That worked in my favor.
I let the lightning build.
It started at my feet and moved upward, not the compressed burst of a directed strike but a sustained charge that wrapped around me and held, crackling along the length of the spear, running across my shoulders and down both arms
The air around me smelled like a storm. My soldiers at the perimeter saw it and stepped back without being told.
Smart.
The aliens in front of me saw it and froze.
Also smart. Just too late.
I dropped into a full sprint and covered the hundred meters to the entrance in less than a second, the lightning expanding outward as I accelerated, the charge finding anything conductive and refusing to let go.
The ones directly in my path didn’t have time to react. The ones to either side of my path took the bleed from the field and went down anyway. By the time I hit the entrance arch, the ground behind me looked like a burn scar.
I went through the opening without slowing.
The inside of the hive was dark , the walls pressing in from both sides, the green liquid running through every groove in the surface and catching the faint glow of my charge as I moved.
I had covered maybe thirty meters when the walls moved.
Aliens came out of openings I hadn’t seen — smaller than the ones on the surface, oval shaped, set at irregular intervals along both sides of the corridor.
Within moments I was surrounded.
Thousands of them. More coming.
I looked at the floor.
The green liquid ran through every groove in the surrounding surfaces. Watching it spread, an idea formed in my mind.
I raised the spear above my head.
"Moonlight Dragon Lightning Descent."
I drove it straight down into the floor.
CRACK!
The impact detonated outward in a ring — the initial strike clearing a three-meter radius instantly, everything in that zone simply ceasing to function. But that wasn’t the part that mattered.
The charge followed the path of least resistance the way electricity always does, and the green slime coating the floor, the walls, the bodies of every alien in the corridor, was the most conductive thing in the building.
The current traveled.
It found the nearest slime-coated body and jumped to it, and from that body it jumped to the next, and the next, and the chain kept building because they were packed tightly and the slime connected all of them into a single continuous medium.
I watched the effect travel down the corridor in both directions faster than I could track, the lightning threading through the network of liquid like it had found a road built specifically for it.
The aliens caught in the chain didn’t have time to register what was happening.
The ones further into the hive — further than I could see — were connected to the same network.
The fire started in the walls first. The slime burned slower than I expected, a thick chemical burn that produced almost no light on its own but generated enough heat to start the surrounding organic material.
Seeing the effect of my attack, I pushed more Qi into the strike. When a gap opened, I moved in immediately.
I had already sensed an energy source within this place, and I had a clear suspicion that destroying it would bring everything down for good.
I’ve already spent so much time in this hellhole. Even if I had my moments here, even if I shared time with pretty girls, I never lost sight of what I was still preparing for.
My real wives were still waiting for me back on my original world.
As I pushed deeper, I finally reached a chamber unlike the others. No aliens were inside. Only silence.
At the center stood something like a heart. It was transparent, glowing green, pulsing faintly.
Curiosity pulled at me, but I kept my guard up as I stepped closer.
I couldn’t afford to die here. Not now, not when I was this close to ending it.
As I reached out, I stopped short. Inside the structure, I saw a figure that looked human at first glance.
But the details didn’t fit. Her ears were longer than any human’s. A red crystal was embedded in her forehead. Her skin was pale, marked with faint scales and patterns that looked like cracks in stone.
"Is this the boss?" I muttered, not expecting something like her to be the core of it all.
Suddenly, her eyes flashed. The gaze that met mine was all black, empty of any visible pupil.
Then she smiled.
It was disarming—soft, gentle in a way that didn’t match anything about this place. For a moment, I felt my focus slip, an unexpected tension tightening in my bottom. It didn’t help that she was butt naked.
That was right. It seemed I had no real standards left, as long as something was attractive enough and has a hole to stick to.
I forced myself to calm down my junior, keeping my attention on the situation rather than what I was seeing.
(You are not from this world. )
A sweet and gentle voice echoed in my head. Telepathy.
"Oh? How did you know?"
