Rejected by My Alpha Mate; Nyra's Awakening
Chapter 102: Territorial CreatureBefore Adrian can stop himself, the Enigma takes over and forces him to storm over there without thinking twice.
He grabs Nyra’s hand tight, and she lets out a loud cry in pain as his claws dig into her flesh.
"Just what the fuck are you doing with my cousin!?"
Nyra gasps at the pain, but she can’t pull her hand away. The more she struggles, the deeper his claws sink into her skin.
"Adrian... please, let me go!" She whimpers loudly.
Adrian does the opposite. Instead he slams her back against the wall, and slams their lips together in front of Dorian, muffling her cries.
He’s no longer in complete control. The Enigma is a highly territorial creature. And seeing them like that makes it want to mark its territory in front of Dorian.
Dorian behind them is seething with rage. He tried not to put his mouth in their business. But if this is how Adrian treats her, he can’t stand by and let her be treated like this.
He storms over to Adrian, and tries to pull him away. "Adrian, let her go!"
Adrian ignores him, kissing her harder, until the metalic taste of blood fills the kiss.
"Adrian! I said-" one moment he’s trying to pull Adrian off him, the next moment Dorian is flying across the hallway, hitting the wall hard enough to make the ground shake.
He grunts loudly in pain, shocked at the sheer power coming from Adrian in that moment.
Adrian finally pulls back, licking off the small smear of blood on Nyra’s lip.
"Adrian what are you doing!?"
His silver-red eyes land on her, making her eyes widen in shock. Adrian is no longer in control.
"You are mine!!" He hisses loudly, grabbing her arm again and starts dragging her back to their room.
Dorian can’t get back up. The wound and the throw has weighed him down completely. He watches helplessly as his cousin drags Nyra into the room and slams the door behind them.
"What the fuck was that?" He thinks to himself, struggling to get up. "Since when did Adrian have so much power that he can fling an Alpha away across a vast hallway?"
There is definitely something off about his cousin. And nd he intends to find out.
.
.
Inside the room, Nyra is crying as Adrian throws her on the bed, and rips her clothes. She had wanted Adrian to touch her, but not like this.
Never like this.
"What are you doing!?" She gasps out loud, trying to push him away from her body. "Please stop!"
"So you can go back to him!?" Adrian growls as he sheds off the last piece of clothing between them. "What? I’m not enough for you now? You think that Alpha is better than me!? I’m an Enigma!!!"
Nyra flinches as he presses closer, a hand wrapped around her throat. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s tight enough to show her how angry her mate is.
"Please, I’m sorry." Tears flow down her cheeks. "It’s not what you think, but please just calm down."
Somehow, her tears reached the sane part of him. Adrian. He has been desperately trying to take over and stop the wolf but he has not learned full control over it yet.
But seeing her tears, Adrian forces himself back to the surface before the wolf can do anything drastic.
Immediately he takes over, he grabs the sheets and throws them over her. She looks up in surprise to see his eyes have returned to their normal silver color.
"A-Adrian?" She whimpers. "Is that you!?"
"Yes it’s me." Adrian replies in a hoarse voice. "I’m sorry I couldn’t control it better. I’m so sorry."
God, he feels so ashamed.
Despite taking over, the claws and urge to claim Nyra have not gone away one bit. He quickly rolls away from her, landing hard on the tiles. But Adrian barely feels the pain.
"I’m so sorry. I’m sorry, baby."
He pulls himself up and reaches for his shorts discarded somewhere on the ground. "I think I should stay away from you for some time."
His hands are shaking, and he can’t even put the shorts on properly. The fabric is too thin and his claws easily tear them into shreds.
"Adrian calm down!" Nyra says from the bed. "You didn’t hurt me, you see? You managed to stop the wolf on time!"
"No, no, Nyra don’t try to excuse me!" Adrian snaps at her, his chest heaving with guilt. He knows she’s just trying to help him calm down, but he knows the truth.
If he hadn’t forced his way to the surface, the Engima wolf would’ve done something completely irreversible.
He finally manages to throw on a pair of jeans and a leather jacket. "I’m going back to the condo, please don’t follow me. I think I need some space from you."
He looks at her one time. The claw marks on her wrists, the cut on her lips, the fingerprint on her pale neck.
Oh God.
He’s too ashamed to even look at her anymore. He slams the door open, running straight into Dorian who is fuming with rage.
"What did you do to her!?"
Adrian meets his eyes. "This is all your fault! I warned you to stay away from her, didn’t I?"
It’s taking everything in him not to show his true nature to this bastard.
"That’s not the point, Adrian!" Dorian growls back, refusing to show his fear. "You hurt her! What you did was unacceptable."
"And what’s it to you. Huh?!" He shoves his cousin back, taking slow murderous steps towards him. "Why did you care about my mate? What’s your business!?"
"It’s my business because she deserves to be treated better!" Dorian shoves him back.
"And what?" Adrian smirks bitterly. "You think you can give her better?" He scoffs, pointing at him. "You?"
"Yes! Yes I can!" Dorian releases his pheromones, trying to ascertain dominance. "I don’t know what you’ve done to yourself, what advantage you think you have." He leans in so only Adrian can hear him. "But I swear to God, Adrian. If I see you lay a hand on her again, I’ll fucking kill you even if it’s the last thing I do!"
That makes Adrian pause, his brow furrowing as he studies the taller man. Dorian has feelings for... Nyra?
Pathetic.
He lets out a short burst of pained laughter. "Just fucking great. Apparently fucking Anna wasn’t enough for you, you’re trying to have her sister too, you selfish prick!"
"Call me whatever you want." Dorian bares his fangs in warning. "But I’m telling you. If you touch her again, you’ll answer to me."
The tension between them is so burning hot as they stand face to face, breathing hard and heavy. To anyone, they looked seconds away from tearing each other to pieces.
Adrian breaks the silence first. "I can’t fucking deal with this right now, get the hell out of my way before I make you!"
Dorian scowls, but shifts aside. His wounds hurt when Adrian slams a shoulder into him as he walks away, leaving Dorian alone in the hallway.
He paces for a few minutes, before knocking on the door.
"Adrian?" He hears Nyra ask from inside the room with a hopeful voice.
His heart sinks. Right. He’s not the one she wants.
"It’s Dorian." He answers instead. "Adrian already left."
"Oh." Comes her reply, followed by a sad sigh. "Dorian...can you not come in? I think it’s best we stay away from each other for now."
He rests his head against the oak door, the words feel like a stab wound to his heart. "I understand. I just wanted to check if you’re okay?"
"I’m-I’m okay." She says quietly, clearly not okay.
---
It’s been a whole day. A whole day since Adrian fled the Blackwood mansion.
She almost didn’t go to the academy today, but she needed to be present in school. Mr Philip already announced yesterday that they would be giving out examination numbers tags today.
The senior exams are on Saturday.
Dorian had offered to drive her to school, but she refused and called Julian instead. He was so happy to come over and pick her up.
She could feel the burning jealousy from Dorian’s when she slid into Julian’s car instead.
Inside the car however, Julian is fuming when he sees the mark on her neck and hand. He asks what happened, but Nyra just brushes everything off.
Thankfully, before Lena and the other girls can grill her too, the professor walks in with the number tags.
"As you all know, the exams are on Saturday. These tags are to be worn and scanned before you can start. Without them you would be automatically disqualified."
He picks one of the Alpha boys to share the tags, while he continues the announcement.
"I hope everyone has been practicing being in sync with their wolves? Without it, you won’t be able to pass."
Nyra looks down at her desk, afraid to meet the professor’s eyes. It feels like he is talking directly to her.
Adrian was supposed to help her practice shifting, tomorrow and Friday, but she hasn’t heard from him since he ran away yesterday, and she has no idea when he’s coming back.
She glances at the other students who are all very excited for the exams and sighs, one question heavy on her mind.
"What if I fail?"
