Chapter 620: I Have Nowhere to Go

Chapter 620: Chapter 620: I Have Nowhere to Go

Annabelle Linton was walking when a woman’s cry for help suddenly echoed from a small alley up ahead.

Annabelle Linton stopped in her tracks, her gaze turning cold as she headed toward the alley.

The closer she got, the louder the cries became.

"Help, help me..."

"Hahaha, little lady. The more you struggle, the more I want to have my way with you. Go on and scream! You can scream your lungs out, but no one’s coming to save you here!"

"Ah! My clothes! Please, let me go..." the woman cried out in despair.

Hearing this, Annabelle Linton quickened her pace, her high heels clicking faster. After a few running steps, she saw it around the corner: a man pinning a woman down, ripping at her clothes.

A sharp glint flashed in her eyes. "Stop it!" Annabelle Linton commanded.

Hearing a voice, the assailant stopped and turned to look at Annabelle Linton.

Annabelle Linton was backlit, her camel trench coat and hair fluttering slightly. Her expression was cold and distant. The dim light cast a faint halo around her, giving her an almost saintly aura.

A stunned look flashed in the assailant’s eyes. He immediately let go of the woman and started walking toward Annabelle Linton. "Looks like I hit the jackpot today. Didn’t expect to run into such a beauty. Well, babe, you’re done for tonight!"

With that, the assailant lunged at Annabelle Linton.

Annabelle Linton dodged with an agile sidestep. Before he could react, she landed a roundhouse kick that sent him crashing into the wall, blood pouring from his nose.

He wiped his bloody nose, fury flashing in his eyes. He charged at Annabelle Linton again. "You little bitch! You dare hit me? Just you wait! I’m gonna drag you home and fuck you to death tonight!"

Again, Annabelle Linton sidestepped gracefully. Then, turning with her hands still in her coat pockets, she sent the assailant sprawling with a single kick.

This time, the kick knocked him out cold.

Annabelle Linton coolly retracted her gaze and walked over to the poor woman.

The woman’s clothes were torn to shreds, leaving her in nothing but her underwear. The clasp of her bra was undone, and it hung loosely from her body.

"SOB SOB SOB..." She hugged her arms, burying her face in her knees as she cried helplessly.

Annabelle Linton squatted down in front of her. She picked up the torn clothes, handed them to the woman, and said with a sigh, "Don’t cry. The bad guy is gone."

"WAAAAH!"

The woman burst into tears. She looked up at Annabelle Linton, her vision blurred by tears, and choked out, "I have nothing left. Nothing. My parents are getting a divorce... a really ugly one. I overheard them fighting... they said my mom used to be a bar girl... and that I’m a bastard... SOB... I’m ruined. I have nothing left... SOB SOB SOB..."

Annabelle Linton hadn’t recognized her, but the moment the woman looked up, she froze.

’Isn’t that Annabelle Ainsworth?’

’What is she doing here?’

Vivian Yates wiped away her tears and, feigning recognition, threw herself into Annabelle Linton’s arms. "WAAAH! Cousin, it’s you!"

"What am I going to do? My parents don’t want me anymore! Neither of them wants me! I have nowhere to go, and I was just almost... almost raped... I’m so scared! What should I do? What am I supposed to do...?"

Annabelle Linton looked at Annabelle Ainsworth with a complicated expression. Something felt off. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but it was just... strange.

’Is it just because I’m not used to this yet?’

Annabelle Linton stroked her hair and helped her get dressed. "What exactly happened?" she asked. "How did you end up..."

Vivian Yates said through her tears, "SOB SOB SOB... I don’t know why... The day after I saved you, they suddenly said they were getting a divorce..."
