Chapter 637: Chapter 637: I Wasted So Much Time
Leona Grant paused, his eyes filled with deep affection as he said, "If I can’t, then not even death could make me leave her."
Not even death could make me leave her...
Ashley Grant couldn’t believe it. ’Her brother, so arrogant and unruly, was actually capable of saying he couldn’t live without someone...’
’Calling her his heart... Just how much did he have to love her to say something like that so unequivocally?’
Ashley Grant lowered her eyes, her expression cold.
’Once upon a time, she had actually thought Ryan Linton would be a man like her brother. But...’
Hah.
...
The barbecue grills were set up quickly, with one for every two people.
Annabelle Linton watched Vivian Yates and Xylas Shepherd sitting together. No matter how she looked at it, something seemed off.
’How did those two wind up together?’
"What are you thinking about? They’re getting burnt," Leona Grant said, flipping the chicken wings on the grill.
Annabelle Linton snapped out of her daze and started flipping the food as well. "It’s nothing," she said softly.
Leona Grant looked at her.
Her eyes were downcast as she worked, her thick hair falling to one side and obscuring half her face. Sunlight filtered through the tree branches, casting her in a quiet, gentle, and elegant glow.
Every move she made was a pleasure to watch.
Leona Grant reached out and tucked a stray lock of her hair behind her ear. Annabelle Linton looked up, her gaze meeting his gentle eyes. She froze for a second before a laugh escaped her. "Why are you staring at me?" she asked, amused.
"I can never get enough."
Leona Grant leaned in and gave her a quick kiss. Then, pouting his lips, he said plaintively, "I want to be with you every single day..."
The food was ready. Annabelle Linton took a chicken wing from the grill and held it to Leona Grant’s lips. She found his words a bit baffling and said with a laugh, "But we are together every day."
Leona Grant took a bite, his eyes fixed on her as he ate. "Annabelle Linton," he said sadly, "I suddenly feel like I’ve wasted so much time in the past, and now there’s not much left."
"What makes you think that?"
"We’re in our twenties now. We’ve already wasted twenty years. The thought of all that lost time fills me with regret."
Not at all minding that he had already taken a bite, Annabelle Linton took a bite from the same spot. Chewing, she raised a casual eyebrow. "Then let’s cherish each other from now on and make up for those twenty years. How does that sound?"
Leona Grant watched her for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."
As he said this, he remembered Ashley’s earlier talk of separation. The mere thought sent a sharp pain through his heart. Leona Grant said earnestly, "Then let’s promise to never leave each other, no matter what happens. All right?"
Even though she had answered this question many times, Annabelle Linton still indulged him. "All right."
Leona Grant smiled in satisfaction. He picked up a piece of food he had grilled and offered it to her. "Here, try what I made. Tell me how it tastes."
Annabelle Linton took a bite and offered a suggestion. "It needs more seasoning. The flavor is a little bland."
"Got it."
As he spoke, Leona Grant sprinkled on some seasoning and fed it to Annabelle Linton. She, in turn, fed him a piece of what she had grilled. Like a couple linking arms for a toast, they ate the food from each other’s hands.
They made each other’s faces messy in the process, and they just looked at each other and laughed.
Annabelle Linton took out a wet wipe and gave her own mouth a quick swipe, then pulled out a fresh one to carefully clean his.
After that, she took out another and bent her head to wipe his fingers.
Leona Grant held out his hand, letting her clean it. Gazing at her delicate features, he couldn’t help but lean in and kiss her.
