Chapter 638: Chapter 638: You’re Mine, It’s Useless to Hate Me

But one kiss wasn’t enough...

Then he wrapped his arms around her waist again, pressing his lips to her cheek. He smiled, his eyes narrowed in satisfaction. "Having a wife is the best," he said. "I have someone to help me get dressed, cook for me, feed me, and wipe my mouth... so many things. A lot of the women at my company can’t do any of this. It makes me realize how lucky I am. My wife is so good to me."

Annabelle Linton was naturally aloof and had always been averse to physical contact.

She preferred to sleep alone. If someone was in bed with her, she would keep her distance, her back turned to them.

But Leona Grant would always scoot closer and wrap his arms around her from behind. Other times, he’d have her lie in his arms, holding her tightly as they slept every night.

At first, Annabelle Linton could never get used to it... but Leona Grant had forced her to get used to it.

Hearing his words, she turned with a smile and kissed him on the lips as well. "Oh, I’m lucky too," she said with a grin. "My husband is perfect, except for being short-tempered, high-maintenance, moody, childish, selfish, narcissistic, arrogant, egotistical, obsessive, prideful, emotionally constipated, petty, domineering, infuriating, inconsiderate, and utterly incapable of empathy... and so on and so forth."

Leona Grant: "..."

’He really couldn’t figure out what she could possibly mean by "perfect" after all that.’

He looked at Annabelle Linton, wounded. Just as he was starting to feel heartbroken, Annabelle cupped his face and said, "But I still like you. I can’t help it. When you like someone, it’s like you’re seeing them through rose-colored glasses. In my eyes, all your flaws are just cute quirks."

Hearing this, Leona Grant leaned close to her ear, so moved he was on the verge of tears. "Annabelle Linton..."

Annabelle Linton’s lips curved into a smile. "Mm-hmm."

"I..."

Annabelle Linton: "..."

’This man! He always found a way to ruin the mood!’

Annabelle Linton pushed him in frustration, but he only held her tighter. A teasing chuckle rumbled in his throat as he said wickedly, "This desolate wilderness is the perfect place for... you know. Want to give it a try?"

"..." Annabelle Linton tensed, looking at him nervously. She lowered her voice. "Leona Grant, everyone is here. I’m warning you, don’t you dare try anything."

’It wasn’t that she took him seriously, but she knew his stubborn streak. The man always followed through on his word.’

’It was best to nip this idea in the bud!’

Leona Grant chuckled and gave her a quick kiss. "Then be a good girl and let me hold you for a while. Don’t fidget."

Annabelle Linton frowned in exasperation. "Leona Grant," she grumbled, "why do I hate you so much?"

"It doesn’t matter. You’re mine, so hating me is pointless. As long as I love you, that’s all that counts."

"..."

——

Ashley Grant watched the couple’s shameless flirting from a distance and rolled her eyes.

’So what if they have a partner? What’s there to be so smug about?’

’Don’t they know they’re surrounded by us poor single souls?’

’So heartless!’

She tore her gaze away, indignant, only to see Vivian Yates putting on a sickeningly sweet act while grilling food for Xylas Shepherd. They looked way too chummy, and a throb of anger shot through Ashley’s head.

She threw down what she was holding, losing her appetite completely.

Nathaniel Locke saw her sudden temper tantrum and asked, amused, "What’s gotten into you?"

"It’s nothing. Seeing that little bitch just kills my appetite. You eat, Locke."

Nathaniel Locke handed her a piece of food, a faint smile playing on his lips. "What’s the rush? Didn’t your brother say he’d stick up for you?"

Ashley Grant scoffed. "He’s so far up his wife’s ass right now, when would he have time for me? I gave up on him a long time ago!"
