Chapter 642: Husband, Put Your Clothes On

Chapter 642: Chapter 642: Husband, Put Your Clothes On

"Nothing much."

After finding a good angle, Ashley Grant took a few pictures of the two of them—CLICK, CLICK. Then she put her phone away and said with a smile, "If I ever mess up someday and my brother wants to punish me, I’ll just whip out these photos as blackmail."

Nathaniel Locke raised an eyebrow. "Will that work?"

"Of course."

Just as she said that, a staff member politely announced to the group, "Alright, dear travelers, you can continue on now."

So, the group started walking again.

Perhaps because it was about to rain, the wind blew relentlessly. Annabelle Linton watched Leona Grant’s jacket flapping in the wind and said worriedly, a pang of concern in her voice, "Why don’t you put your jacket back on? Don’t catch a cold."

She actually wanted to take it off and give it back to him right then and there, but she was afraid he’d get angry.

Leona Grant turned to look at her and asked with a smile, "Why should I put it back on?"

"I’m afraid you’ll catch a cold."

"Is that so."

’This woman actually knows how to care about me. My affection for her hasn’t been wasted.’

Hearing this, Leona Grant seemed to ponder for a moment before turning back to her. "In that case, humor me. Call me ’hubby,’ and I’ll put it on."

Annabelle Linton rolled her eyes and said, exasperated, "Leona Grant, can you be serious for once?"

Leona Grant chuckled and urged her, "Go on, say it. Say it, and I’ll put the jacket back on."

Annabelle Linton took off the jacket and handed it to him, saying resignedly, "Hubby, put on your jacket."

Leona Grant laughed, put it back on her, and smoothed her hair. "What’s mine is yours," he said. "So there’s no question of taking it back. You just wear it and don’t get sick. I’m a man; I’ll be fine."

"..." ’This guy, his games are getting more and more elaborate.’

Annabelle Linton felt that the longest road she’d ever walked was the winding path of Leona Grant’s schemes.

They couldn’t walk any further. After another half an hour, the sky had turned completely dark. If not for the staff members’ flashlights, they wouldn’t have been able to see the path at all.

They were now deep in the mountains. According to the lead staff member, they just had to cross this forest and walk another hundred meters to reach the foot of the mountain.

Victory was in sight.

The path here was a bit narrow, so they had to walk in single file, like a queue.

Other travelers were in front of them, followed by Leona Grant’s group of six.

Their order was: Leona Grant, Annabelle Linton, Ashley Grant, Nathaniel Locke, Vivian Yates, and Xylas Shepherd.

Xylas was at the very back.

As they were walking, Xylas Shepherd suddenly realized he’d forgotten his backpack.

It contained his wallet, phone, and other valuables. The phone held confidential company information; if someone with ill intentions got ahold of it, he’d be finished.

He stopped, explained the situation to the group, and prepared to head back the way they came.

If he had to, he would spend the night up there. He absolutely could not lose that phone.

Before leaving, he glanced worriedly at Vivian Yates and had no choice but to ask Nathaniel Locke to look after her.

Leona Grant and Ashley Grant wouldn’t bother with her, and his sister-in-law wasn’t in a position to help.

Nathaniel Locke gave a quiet assent.

After Xylas left, the group started walking again.

Truth be told, Vivian Yates wanted to stand in front of Nathaniel Locke, which would be behind Ashley Grant, but she was afraid Ashley would cause a scene, so she didn’t dare ask.

Getting closer to Annabelle Linton was even more out of the question; Leona Grant couldn’t stand her.

So, she could only remain at the very end of the line...

A cold wind blew past, chilling and grim. She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she kept feeling like someone was behind her.

But every time she turned her head to look, she saw nothing.

Vivian Yates could only pray that they would get out of this forest quickly.

Just then—

Vivian Yates clearly heard a set of light, airy footsteps. She spun around instantly but found no one there.

As she frantically turned back around, telling herself to stay calm, someone suddenly clamped a hand over her mouth and dragged her away!
