Repairing A Broken Home With My Patriarch System
Chapter 39: Ethan’s Gamble?Reynold sighed in defeat. ’This man really doesn’t let me get a good bite from this deal. I thought he was a newbie.’
After signing the contract, he folded the papers into a file and handed it to Ethan.
"Here it is, sir. Thanks for the patronage."
Ethan nodded, then said, "I still have some work for you."
Reynold’s eyes narrowed in suspicion. "What’s that?"
The others also looked at him curiously. Was there anything else he wanted to buy?
Ethan smiled and said, "Furnishing the apartment. Every single floor. We’ll be keeping the top floor for ourselves."
Evelyn smiled at him, and he returned the smile. He had realized that she liked the place, and he was also cool with it.
"Alright, I’ll handle that and call the people to work on it," Reynold sighed and waved his hand. "I’ll let you know the workmanship price after speaking with them."
Ethan nodded and exchanged contact with him. Soon, Ethan, Lucas, Evelyn, and Nora returned to the limousine parked outside.
Lucas immediately turned to Ethan and asked, "Brother Ethan, why didn’t you let me handle the furnishing? Do you trust that guy?"
Ethan smiled. "Trust? No, I don’t. However, I believe he’s smart and wouldn’t try anything funny. Besides, that’s his field so it’s better for him to do it than to bother you."
Lucas sighed dramatically, rubbing his chin. "Brother Ethan, I already told you, you’re not bothering me. I’m helping you willingly. You didn’t even let me help you pay for the house. I feel really sad."
Knowing that he was just whining, Ethan didn’t take him seriously.
"For now, I don’t need financial support from you. If I do, I won’t be shy about it."
Lucas’s eyes narrowed, and seeing the sincere expression on Ethan’s face, he felt satisfied.
"Understood. Then... do you want to go back home now or...?"
Ethan shook his head. "Take us to the Shopping Quarter in this area. I want to get a shop for my wife."
Lucas glanced at Evelyn, then nodded. He quickly relayed the instructions to his driver, who started the car and drove them to their destination.
’This man is really acting strange. Even if he likes quiet and peace, he shouldn’t have bought the other two floors of that apartment building. Or is he seeing something that I’m not seeing?’
Keeping his thoughts to himself, Lucas stayed silent until they arrived at the Shopping Quarter of the Cold River District.
There were some people moving around, but a single glance was enough to tell people that the place was unpopular.
Lucas’s eyes narrowed as he got out of the car. "We’re here. Are you still sure you want to get a shop in this area? Not many people from the outside visit this district at all."
Ethan looked around, his gaze landing on a familiar large shopping complex that hadn’t been occupied by anyone.
The shopping complex was decorated beautifully, but failed to attract businesses since it wasn’t facing the main road.
’That was until the government moved that school here and the main road actually changed.’
He reminisced a little, remembering how this area suddenly spiked in value after the government moved one of the country’s major schools into the district.
’Time to make use of these memories...’
"Brother Ethan?"
Lucas’s voice brought him back to reality, and he answered his question.
"You shouldn’t worry about that. Customers will come eventually."
Lucas still looked puzzled, but nodded.
Walking towards the unoccupied shopping complex, Ethan lowered his voice and said to him, "Lucas, I’d advise you to get some properties in this area too."
The man blinked. "Ah, why?"
Ethan shrugged, not bothering to share the details. "Who knows? Just don’t say I didn’t tell you."
Lucas’s expression became serious, and he immediately took out his phone to call his assistant.
Ethan smiled but didn’t say anything. ’Smart. No wonder he was reigning until his business collapsed back then. I wonder if my influence will prevent that from happening this time?’
After ending the call, Lucas quickened his pace and walked beside him. "Is it from this you want to buy a shop?"
"Wrong." Ethan shook his head. "I’m buying the whole place."
Evelyn stared at him with wide eyes, shocked. Wasn’t he spending too much?
"Ethan... why are you buying all? These shops are big, and I think one is already enough."
He glanced at her and held her hand. "I have a bigger picture in mind. Soon, you’ll understand."
Although Evelyn was confused, she still decided to trust him and kept quiet. Nora, on the other hand, had a thousand question marks above her head.
’I know there are supposed to be some differences but... what’s with this absurd difference?’
Unaware of his daughter’s dilemma, Ethan dialed the number pasted on the walls of the building. The call was answered immediately, and in a few minutes, the agent arrived.
The young woman looked extremely enthusiastic as she greeted them. After all, this was the first time someone had called to inquire about the property.
She sincerely hoped they could rent a shop or two.
"I want the whole place," Ethan said, causing her to freeze.
"Pardon?"
He turned to her, calm and relaxed. "Do I really need to say it again?"
She blushed in embarrassment and stuttered. "B-but are you really sure about that? The whole building? You’re buying it?"
Ethan hummed in acknowledgement. "Or do you not want me to buy?"
"What?! No, no, no! It’s not like that," She shouted as she hurriedly shook her head. "I’m just surprised. This... this one isn’t particularly popular, so I’m just shocked that you want everything."
"Well, I’ve made my decision," He said to her. "Please get the paperwork ready."
A quarter of an hour later, the limousine took them away from the Cold River District, taking them back to their neighborhood in another city.
As the family of three got out of the car, Ethan smiled at Lucas.
"Thank you for your time today, Lucas. I appreciate that."
The older man smiled back and waved it off. "It’s nothing, it’s nothing. I’m glad I could help you get what you wanted."
Ethan nodded and turned. "Alright, goodbye. See you sometime later."
Lucas’s driver closed the door, and the limousine zoomed off. Ethan watched it disappear from view, then looked at his bank account balance.
’$12,566.’
A depressed sigh escaped his lips.
