After a moment of tense silence, Ethan finally spoke.

"I should get you some math textbooks."

Nora’s brows furrowed, and her expression changed. "What?"

His gaze remained calm. "You’re going to be resuming school soon. You need to be prepared."

Nora’s lips twitched, and she turned away. She couldn’t argue against that. After all, Ethan only saw her as a child, and she wasn’t willing to expose her secret.

’B-but... I shouldn’t have problems doing those things, right? I already did them before...’

Suddenly feeling worried, she glanced at Ethan. He was no longer looking at her. Instead, he seemed to be searching his phone for something.

After a while, he turned to her with a smile. "Here. Watch this video. You should be able to learn something from it."

Nora collected the phone and looked at it. A man was on the screen, wearing a forced smile as he taught algebra.

Nora’s expression stiffened at the sight, and she felt a growing headache.

Still, she wasn’t ready to drop it. Even though she wasn’t a genius, she didn’t believe something this simple could be incomprehensible to her.

A few minutes into watching the video, her head was already filled with question marks.

’Is this... is this how we were taught? I can’t remember doing it this way.’

Ethan watched her expression change several times, amused. He knew the topic was new to her, and she probably wasn’t going to understand it for now.

Still, he let her watch.

After a while, Nora came to him and returned the phone with a dark expression. "This is too complicated. It’s not what I’m supposed to learn now."

Ethan raised an eyebrow at her choice of words, then shook his head.

"No, it’s the perfect preparation for you. Go bring your book and pen."

The little girl pursed her lips in dissatisfaction but still complied. Once she brought them, Ethan made her sit beside him and began teaching her.

"When you have ten A plus sixteen equals sixty-six, what is your A?"

Nora’s brows furrowed. "The numbers are supposed to go together, so sixty-six minus sixteen."

Ethan blinked in surprise, as he hadn’t expected her to know that already. A proud smile appeared on his face, and he wrote down what she had just said.

"That gives us ten A equals fifty. So what do we do next?"

The little girl frowned slightly. "Uh... how are we going to get rid of A? Are we going to shift ten beside fifty too?"

Sighing, Ethan shook his head. "Think of it this way. You have five fingers on a hand. How many hands would you need to make it ten fingers?"

She turned to him and answered, "Two hands?"

Ethan nodded. "Brilliant! What about fifteen fingers?"

"That would be three hands," She said confidently.

He gave her a thumbs-up, then turned back to the question. "So if one A is ten, how many As would it need to make fifty overall?"

"That would be..." She hesitated. "Five...?"

Ethan’s eyes lit up, and he patted her head affectionately. "Mn, correct. That’s very impressive."

Nora smiled instinctively at the praise, but immediately wiped it off. Ethan pretended to not notice and wrote down another question.

"Now, try this one yourself."

Nora looked at it, her eyes narrowed. ’Six B minus three equals fifteen. Hmm...’

She picked up the pen and started writing.

Ethan watched her solve with a light smile on his face. He slowly nodded to himself, impressed.

’She’s performing so nicely I feel a little proud. Is this what parents feel when seeing their child do well?’

After a few minutes of hesitation, Nora finally turned her answer to him. Ethan smiled and said, "Correct."

Nora once again smiled, but she quickly suppressed it, feeling a flicker of irritation towards herself.

Why was she smiling?

It definitely wasn’t because he was praising her. She snorted with a displeased look on her face.

Ethan ignored that and smiled kindly. "Now, let’s move on to the next."

Nora’s expression changed. "Is it necessary?"

He nodded with a smile that made her uneasy. "Since you’re very good at this, we must naturally test your limits and see what you can handle."

Having tasted that foreign feeling of pride, he wasn’t going to let her go yet. He wanted to see how much of a genius his daughter was.

Despite her displeasure, which he seemed oblivious to, Nora was forced to confront harder questions.

Meanwhile, after seeing how well Cassandra handled her sales, Evelyn decided to take a short break and have a bottle of water. She entered the shop, then stopped.

The sight before her was astonishing. Ethan and Nora sat side-by-side, with him teaching her and pointing out her mistakes, and giving her several exercises to solve.

Evelyn could tell that her daughter was a little annoyed. However, the girl wasn’t truly against learning from him. In fact, she caught her smiling faintly after answering some questions correctly.

Evelyn watched them for a while, then went back to the counter to join Cassandra. Sales were slow, but not that bad.

Just as Lucas had said, the area wasn’t popular, so not many outsiders passed. Only a few people who were curious about the newly opened shop stopped by and bought some fruits from her.

Still, Evelyn wasn’t discouraged. Since her husband had told her to trust him, she was going to do just that.

Cassandra was even more enthusiastic. Her coffee shop rarely had customers. Probably two customers a month, and they never returned.

Now, she was able to sell to five different customers in a single day. Although the business wasn’t hers, she was still satisfied.

’Yes! It feels like a dream come true!’

Some time later, Evelyn went back into the shop and saw Ethan finally letting Nora go after the lesson. The little girl was mentally exhausted and shot him a few resentful glares.

However, Ethan only smiled at her, seemingly unaware of her current state of mind.

"We’ll do this tomorrow too. Don’t forget to revise and do your assignment."

She shivered and immediately ran to her mother.

"Nora, are you alright?" Evelyn asked warmly.

She shook her head and pouted. "I’m so tired. I want to sleep."

Smiling, Evelyn helped her lie down on the couch and offered her a place to rest her head on her lap. Delighted, Nora accepted and closed her eyes to sleep.

Still in his seat opposite them, Ethan smiled.
