Chapter 505: Chapter-505

Seera lowered her head, cupping her rapidly reddening forehead with both hands. She looked up at Heena with a pitiful, teary gaze. "I... I’m sorry."

Heena kept her hand raised, her eyes flashing with sudden, raw frustration. "You know how to act like a child... but you dared to just die? You dared to let the pressure crush you so badly that you completely gave up on your own body? And now ’we’ are the ones stuck cleaning up your mess!"

Before Seera could even process the scolding, Heena reached down, yanked off one of her heavy sneakers, and raised it like a lethal weapon.

"What do you think life is?!" Heena barked, aggressively waving the shoe.

Seera shrieked, instantly turning around and sprinting away into the endless black void.

Heena, completely ignoring the solemnity of the afterlife, immediately chased after her.

"You just sat there and gave up!" Heena yelled, her voice echoing into the darkness as she sprinted after the glowing fifteen-year-old. "I am practically ancient, yet I never once dared to just give up on life! But you did?! Wow! You had so much lingering resentment that your soul literally dragged me across dimensions into this miserable world! Do you have any idea how much your grandparents torture me with their bickering?! How much your chaotic family tortures me?! Did you think I didn’t have important people of my own left behind?!"

Seera ducked behind an invisible barrier in the void, finally bursting into loud, wracking sobs. "Then what was I supposed to do?!" she cried out, her small shoulders shaking violently.

Heena slowed to a halt. The anger drained out of her, leaving behind only a profound, heavy exhaustion. She sighed, slowly lowering her sneaker.

"You had the sheer guts to summon me across worlds using your dying resentment," Heena said quietly, looking at the weeping child. "So why didn’t you use that same stubbornness to fight back for yourself?"

Seera rubbed her tear-soaked eyes, looking back at Heena with a defiant, broken expression. "Because you are stronger! I’m not!"

Heena stared at her calmly. "Who told you that?"

Seera paused, her tears stuttering to a halt. "Huh?"

"Who told you that I am stronger?" Heena repeated, her voice steady and unyielding. "Who told you that I am invincible?"

Seera tilted her head, genuinely confused. "Aren’t you?"

Heena aggressively raised the sneaker again. "Do you want to get beaten again?"

Seera flinched, hastily taking a large step backward.

Heena rolled her eyes in irritation, flung the sneaker down onto the invisible floor, and shoved her foot back into it.

"Do you honestly think I was just born some untouchable genius?" Heena scolded, crossing her arms as Seera watched her meekly. "Do you think my mother gave birth to me and the doctors went, ’’Oh, look, a fully-formed, invincible bodybuilder was just born!’’ No. I had to bleed for everything I am."

Heena took a step closer, her voice carrying a harsh, grounded reality. "You women in this era have so much anger, so much burning regret, but you never dare to actually fight the battle yourselves. What was your grand plan? ’’Oh, I’ll just die, and then they will all regret how they treated me.’’ To hell with their regret! What are you going to do with it? You see your mother regret it, your father regret it, your enemies regret it... and then what? Do you just magically revive? No. You’re still dead, and they are still alive."

She burst into tears. Her eyes overflowed, and she scrubbed at her face again and again, trying and failing to wipe the tears away. "What could I do? What could I do? I was so scared. I was so alone!"

Her sobbing was entirely uncontrollable now. "I tried! I tried everything, from the time I was a little child until the very end of my life. Why? Why didn’t anyone like me? Why was I always left alone?"

Heena looked at her, let out a loud, incredulous scoff, and crossed her arms. "Why the heck do you think you need someone to like you?"

Seera froze, her breath hitching as she looked up with wide, tear-filled eyes.

Heena stared back at her with absolute, unflinching calm. "Seriously, why do you think you need people to love you? Does their love magically deposit money into your hands? And if it did, who would you actually love more—the person, or the money?"

Internally, Heena knew she was speaking absolute nonsense. She had literally no idea how to make a traumatized child stop crying, especially in a bizarre, metaphysical void. Her instinct was to apply battlefield logic to an emotional breakdown, which was entirely useless, but it was the only tool she had.

With a quiet sigh, Heena closed the distance between them. She awkwardly reached out and placed a firm, grounding hand on the crying girl’s shoulder.

"You have so many people who genuinely care for you," Heena said, her voice dropping some of its harshness. "Your grandparents would literally die for you. Isn’t their love enough? Why the heck do you need to care about who else loves you and who doesn’t? Why did you think that giving up your own life was a good idea, just so everyone would supposedly remember you fondly?"

Heena’s grip tightened slightly. "I’ll tell you the truth about the world, kid. The people who call your sacrifice ’great’ today? A few years from now, they will just call you a coward. They will say you simply gave up on life because it was too hard."

"I know!" Seera wailed, completely breaking down again. "I know! I saw it! I saw it all happen! But I was in so much pain! What was I supposed to do? I’m not like you! I can’t understand how to be that strong!"

Heena let out a long, heavy sigh. She looked down at the trembling, broken girl.

"Then why are you still here?" Heena asked quietly.

Seera froze. She slowly looked up at Heena, her tear-stained face pale and confused.

"Why are you still lingering here?" Heena repeated the question, her dark eyes piercing straight through the girl’s soul.

Seera violently clenched the fabric of her navy green robes. "I want... I want revenge."

Heena looked at her with an expression of absolute, terrifying calm. "You already got what you wanted. Your adoptive parents, who pushed you down that slope, are now living lives worse than stray dogs. Your grandparents are happy and safe. Everyone in the capital knows exactly who you are. So, what revenge are you talking about?"

Seera’s body went rigid. A sudden, desperate flush of anger turned her eyes red. "I want... I want the ones who killed me to die! I want them to suffer something worse than death!"

Heena didn’t ask who Seera was talking about. She already knew this child had suffered something horrific, an accumulation of betrayals that wasn’t exactly rocket science to piece together.

"So, who exactly do you want to kill?" Heena asked smoothly, her voice utterly devoid of judgment.

Seera froze again, her mouth opening but no sound coming out.

"Who?" Heena pressed, stepping closer. "Your adoptive parents? That old bastard who I already personally dealt with? Maya, who is out there living God knows what kind of miserable life right now? Or that so-called second husband of Maya’s who is currently rotting, living worse than a prisoner?"
