Return of the Mythic Bloodline

The monsters descended to the earth, their screeches audible from every corner of the planet, a cacophony of death that echoed across continents. The sky rained abominations, their twisted forms plummeting toward the barrier like a dark hailstorm.

In response, Ume placed her massive claws on the surface of the barrier, pouring her divine Soulforce into it. The moment the monsters slammed into the barrier, booming explosions of pink fire erupted, obliterating their bodies. Hundreds of thousands of monsters were killed instantly, and not even a crack had appeared on the barrier. Their remains scattered like ash in the wind.

The mindless monsters did not feel fear or pain. They were beings of death, serving no other purpose than to destroy. As soon as the first layer of monsters was killed, the horde behind them rushed to the barrier, following the same explosive fate. The barrier held strong as Ume continued pouring her Soulforce into it, her divine energy unwavering despite the relentless assault. .

Another wave of monsters was about to attack when a commanding voice echoed, heard farthest from how the human sound carried, "Stop!"

Every monster froze in their movement, as if they had turned into statues, their limbs halting mid-lunge. Ume’s eyes shifted to the broken sky, from where emerged a hand with elongated fingers, its purple bone gleaming in the dim light. Followed by the limb, a purple creature with an ominous presence that Ume had felt several thousand years ago emerged from the other dimension.

"I cannot have you all die just here," Doom ordered in a casual commanding tone. "Who will collect the meal for me if you all d—"

Its words stopped mid-sentence as its eye shifted to Ume’s fox figure. Just for a moment, its iris shook, as if it was terrified, a flicker of something primal passing through its gaze. The reaction immediately vanished as its gaze fell upon the tails behind her, its composure returning.

"What is the Goddess of all Beasts doing so far away from her home?" It asked as it appeared before Ume in a sudden jolt that almost seemed like teleportation, the distance between them closing in an instant. The only thing that separated them was the shimmering barrier between them. "Now I understand where all the slaves that I previously sent failed completely."

"How do you know me?" Ume’s voice echoed, deep, feminine, and commanding through her Soulforce, her eyes narrowing at the creature.

"How can I forget the bitch who killed countless of my kind?" It replied with a shrug, its tone devoid of any hate. There was no emotion in its words, only cold acknowledgment. "Nonetheless, I should be thankful to you for killing them. Now I do not need to share my food with anyone. Oh right..."

A wicked smile formed on its face, gleaming its teeth as it continued, its voice dripping with malice, "Whatever caused you to lose your powers, I will make sure to tear you limb from limb, to let the souls of my kind rest easy. Although I doubt their souls even exist."

It lightly tapped the barrier, which instantly resulted in an explosion of pink fire. As the flames extinguished, revealing it completely unscathed, it ordered, its voice carrying a casual arrogance, "Now, do you mind removing this barrier so I can have my meal? I am starving here."

Ume decided not to indulge with this creature any further. She took her claws from the barrier and began forming a successive series of hand signs with them, her movements swift and precise.

Doom had seen her doing similar motions many times before, and each time she did, it brought absolute destruction upon the pisaches. The memory of that devastation flickered in its eye.

It decided not to give her the chance to cast the spell. With its massive claws, it began punching the barrier, each strike sending reverberations through the surrounding air, followed by explosions of pink smoke. It ignored the blasts as they caused no harm to its thick body shell, its bone-like hide impervious to the flames. It hit the barrier with even more strength, each blow carrying the force of a meteor.

The punches began shattering the reality from the point of impact, finally causing a few cracks spreading across the barrier.

"Unleash all of your power!" Ume’s commanding tone, laced in her Soulforce, rippled through the whole Asian continent beneath her reaching the Awakeners stationed there.

The high ranked Awakeners standing there spread her words across the whole planet as all the Awakeners released every last drop of their Soulforce. A collective surge of energy, raw and unbridled, shot upward from every corner of the Earth, a river of light converging toward the barrier. The massive amount of energy released at once caused avalanches and earthquakes at multiple places, the planet itself groaning under the strain of such power.

As the energy was absorbed by the barrier, the cracks began vanishing, the fractured web knitting itself back together, causing the pisach to frown, its single eye narrowing with irritation.

It opened its jaw wide, numerous twinkling particles of violent purple energy materialising before its mouth, converging into a sphere of unstable destruction.

However, before it could unleash the attack, Ume had already stopped the movement of her hand signs. A volcano like aura exploded from her body, shifting and breaking the space around her, her eyes glowing like a pair of stars as she began moving her hands together, completing the final gesture of her intricate spell.

Doom’s head snapped backward as it was only then that it realised what exactly she had done.

From behind the broken sky, a similar barrier was converging in, enclosing the dimension that it had opened and healing the space once again. The walls of pink light pressed inward, sealing the rift from which the monsters had poured. The sunlight fell on Earth again, devouring the shadow cast by the broken sky, the golden rays returning to the land.

As the barrier closed in further and touched the bodies of the monsters, booming explosions occurred, obliterating them into nothingness.

The Doom released the purple unstable sphere it had formed before its mouth towards the incoming barrier.

As it touched the barrier, the pink patterns began turning purple, the colour spreading along its surface like a disease.

ROARR!!!!!

A thundering roar echoed as Ume unleashed more of her Soulforce, the reverberations alone shattering the glasses of the buildings several thousand metres below her. The sheer force of her power rippled outward in a shockwave of divine energy.

The purple that was spreading across the barrier stopped and began moving back as the barrier returned to its original colour.

One by one, the Awakeners on the Earth began falling unconscious, depleted of every last ounce of their Soulforce.

Before Doom could unleash another attack, the barrier had already closed in, squashing and obliterating all the monsters inside as the two barriers left no space for the abominations to move.

Doom raised its arms upward, holding the upper barrier with its arms and the lower with its legs, causing its body to hit with the constant explosions.

Its limbs bent from the joints, pressing inward as the barrier continued to converge, the explosions making it difficult for the Doom to channel its power.

"How dare the prey try to hunt the hunter!" It roared, straightening its limbs again, causing cracks on the barriers. "The strength you possess is laughable, fox goddess. You cannot def—"

Before it could finish the words, a figure appeared inside the barrier. Due to the explosions, Doom could not see it clearly. What visible through the pink smoke was the pair of white eyes, glowing like a comet.
