The wooden door of the room where Evangeline was staying opened inward as she slowly stepped out, hovering in the air, her figure enveloped in blue energy.

"Congratulations on reaching Level Nine," Maximilian said with a bright smile as he waited outside the room.

"Thank you, My Lord," she said with a slight nod. She curiously looked at Maximilian, her blue eyes scanning him from head to toe as she said, "You have also reached Level Nine. Congratulations, My Lord."

"Hehe~ just minor stuff," Maximilian chuckled. "Forget about it. Come with me."

He grabbed her hand and led her out of the palace, reaching the front yard.

"Slow down, My Lord," she insisted, being dragged along with him. "Where are you taking me?"

Maximilian didn’t answer, stopping only once they reached the pavilion.

"My Lord, could you tell—"

"Shhh!!" Maximilian placed his index finger on her lips. "Sit down."

He gently pressed her shoulders, making her sit on the cushion before the small stone table while he settled onto the opposite one.

From beneath his cushion, he took out a hand-sized golden token.

"This pagoda is truly incredible. Let me show you a few of its functions that I discovered."

He traced a pattern on the token with his finger.

The sky above shifted, turning into night. Countless twinkling stars scattered across the dark sky while two large full moons, one crimson and the other white, hung overhead.

"Ohh~" Evangeline’s eyebrows rose as her eyes shifted to the sky. "I didn’t know the pagoda had such a feature."

"It’s just the beginning," Maximilian said excitedly as he traced another pattern onto the token.

In the large pond opposite the garden, white mist began rising while rose petals covered its surface.

"A hot spring?" Evangeline gasped, finally seeming more interested. Her dark hair, with inner shades of blue, appeared even more beautiful beneath the night sky. Maximilian’s heart skipped a beat at the enchanting smile on her face.

"Is there more, My Lord?" Evangeline asked, tilting her head, her blue eyes shimmering with excitement as she looked warmly at Maximilian.

"Y-yes," Maximilian nodded, tracing more patterns onto the token.

A jade bottle of wine along with two cups appeared on the table.

Flustered as he was, while drawing the final pattern, his finger slipped slightly, altering the pattern.

Several enchanting women appeared in the garden. They danced with seductive movements, long strips of cloth swaying gracefully with every motion, barely covering their hips and chests while leaving the rest of their skin exposed to the cold night breeze.

Maximilian’s jaw dropped, his face flushing bright red.

"What is the meaning of this, My Lord?" Evangeline muttered, the smile from earlier completely vanishing from her face as her eyes narrowed at Maximilian.

"I-it was a mistake," Maximilian blurted, quickly moving his hand across the token. "I didn’t know something like this existed."

Before he could cancel it, one of the women hugged him from behind, her hand rubbing against his chest as she giggled into his ear.

The sudden touch flustered Maximilian even further, causing the token to slip from his hand.

"Is this what you wanted me to see, My Lord?" Evangeline slammed her hand onto the table as she rose to her feet. "So this is what you were doing while I was in closed-door cultivation."

"No, Vivi. It’s a misunderstanding," Maximilian tried to explain, but Evangeline had already reached the stone path, refusing to listen.

He was about to chase after her when two girls grabbed him by the arms from either side.

"Where are you going, Master?"

"Play with us, Master."

They spoke in seductive tones.

"You are the worst, My Lord!" Evangeline declared before vanishing from the garden.

What followed was a loud bam as the door of her room slammed shut.

"Dammit!" Maximilian cried, facepalming hard.

He picked up the token and dispelled the illusion of the women, the source of the current crisis, before grabbing the wine bottle from the table.

"I am going to kill the pervert who created these illusions. I wanted to create a proper atmosphere to get closer to my wife, and now I have to find a way to save my marriage."

He raised the wine bottle and chugged it down in one gulp, hoping to wash away his frustration.

---

"I know My Lord isn’t like this," Evangeline muttered as she lay on her stomach on the bed, her face buried in a pillow. "It must be one of the pagoda’s functions that he was unaware of. So why... why do I feel so angry?"

She kicked the bed in frustration, muffled whimpers escaping her lips.

"How dare those wenches touch my Lord? Only I can touch him. Only me."

Her fingers dug into the pillow as she continued whining.

"And my stupid Lord. Who gave him the right to blush because of other women?"

She rolled onto her back, pressing her breasts together.

"Mine are even bigger than theirs. Yet he looked at them instead of me. Stupid Lord. Stupid Lord. Stupi—"

Bam! Bam!

Her words stopped mid-sentence as loud knocks echoed from the door.

"Evangeline, baby!" Maximilian’s husky voice followed. "I truly... didn’t know... about that feature of the pagoda. O-open the door, baby."

Another knock came, this one weaker than before, followed by the sound of him gulping.

"I only... have eyes for you, darling... Please don’t be... angry. I’m sorry. I-I will hold my ears and do sit-ups until you open the door."

"O-one..."

"Two..."

"Thr—"

The door opened, revealing Maximilian in the middle of a squat while holding both ears with his hands. His face was flushed red, his golden eyes only half open.

Evangeline’s gaze shifted to the empty wine bottle lying on the floor.

"Whoah! You really came. I knew... you would open the door for your husband," Maximilian laughed, straightening his knees, his eyes never leaving Evangeline’s ethereal face.

She merely sighed at his drunken state.

"You are drunk, My Lord," she said, holding him by the arms as she guided him inside the room. "We will talk when you are sober."

As soon as they entered the room, Maximilian kicked the door shut.

He gently grasped her chin, lifting her face closer to his own. Their breaths mingled, their lips only inches apart.

"Are you still angry... my wife?" he asked in a low, husky voice.
