After resting for a few hours, the duo moved outside. Maximilian took the pagoda with him and deactivated the array around it as well.

He transformed into his dragon form and flew upward, just below the grey mist covering the sky. Evangeline was still in her human form, sitting on his back, her silhouette covered in Death Lightning.

In his transformed state, Maximilian reached the crater where the Control Room was located in less than an hour.

He moved the large rock to the side, revealing the tunnel in the hill. At the end of the tunnel, a wall of dark metal stood. Maximilian touched the wall and ordered, "AINOS, open the door."

The wall shifted upward, revealing the massive Control Room inside. A thin, translucent barrier was still there, blocking the Death Energy in the tunnel from entering inside.

"Come Vivi," Maximilian said, grabbing Evangeline’s hand as the duo passed right through the barrier. The Death Lightning around her body vanished, no longer needed inside the room.

"Th-this is far more phenomenal than what you described, My Lord," Evangeline exclaimed, her jaw dropping as her wide eyes scanned the room.

"How come?" Maximilian asked. He believed he hadn’t left any details about the room out when he described it to her.

"The material this room is made of doesn’t exist in Vyoman," Evangeline began, touching the cold metallic wall with fascination. "Not only is it rare but extremely mysterious. The Death Energy of Riftland couldn’t damage it. Time could not erode it. And it is durable enough to pass through the cosmos."

Her eyes shifted to the hovering sphere at the centre. "And that must be the core of the Control Room. The material it is made of is even more mysterious. And that Ape—wait, what’s the Soul Devouring Ape doing here!?"

Evangeline exclaimed as she found the Ape sitting cross-legged before an opened chamber on the curved side wall.

A cluster of blue lightning had already surrounded her hand as she prepared to attack when Maximilian blurted, grabbing her wrist, "Hey, calm down. That Ape is a friend."

"It is a death demon," Evangeline said, mentioning the obvious.

"And?"

She gave him a confused look, trying to make sense of his words. A moment later, she just shook her head, the lightning vanishing from her hand. "I’m so worried about our children when your friends will visit us in the future. All of your friends are questionable."

"H-how can you say that?" Maximilian gasped. "Arthur is normal."

"He is a womanizer."

"Draven is an honorable man."

"He is literally a demon."

"Th-this Ape is a good-tempered death demon."

"Are you even listening to yourself, My Lord?"

"..."

Maximilian had nothing left to say to defend his friends. "But I have you."

"I’m your wife," Evangeline facepalmed, shaking her head.

While Maximilian was left visibly shattered for being unable to make a single normal friend, Evangeline decided to look around the Control Room. She had always been interested in inventing and studying artifacts. Most of the widely used artifacts in Valcyrion, like flying chariots, Soulforce-fueled motors to pump water, and cleaning puppets to keep the house clean, were invented by Evangeline. There wasn’t a book about artifacts left in Valcyrion that Evangeline hadn’t read. Her talent in invention was even more incredible given the fact that she had done all of this while babysitting her troublemaking Lord.

"My Lord," Evangeline called him, standing beside the central sphere.

’Am I really that terrible at making friends?’ Maximilian muttered inwardly. ’To be honest, I cannot have any of them meet our children—Wait-wait-wait! Vivi is already planning on having children with me? Well, it is normal given that we are married. But how can she say it so casually?’

"My Lord, land back on the ground," Evangeline waved her hand before his eyes, pulling him out of his thoughts.

"Y-yes, what is it?" Maximilian asked.

"Where is the gift that you mentioned?" she asked, slightly bent forward, looking at Maximilian with excited, narrowed eyes.

"O-oh right, the gift," Maximilian turned his eyes sideways, as the mere sight of her ethereal face gave butterflies to his stomach. Taking quick steps, he reached the second chamber that he had told AINOS to unseal with the little energy it had left.

Similar to the first one, the inner wall of this chamber also had long scriptures written in the Dragon Tongue.

"Insight to Celestia..." Evangeline read the title at the top, her jaw dropping in shock. "M-my Lord, this is..."

"Yes, this is the insight to reach the Celestial Realm," Maximilian revealed. "The method the dragons of the current era use to reach the Celestial Realm is incomplete and shallow. This scripture, left by our ancestor, contains the real meaning of Celestia that we have long forgotten."

"M-my Lord, th-these runes are so profound," Evangeline murmured with widened eyes. "If the presence of these scriptures were to be revealed, the dragons would wreak havoc upon the entire Vyoman to get their hands on it."

"I’m aware," Maximilian nodded. "That’s why we must make sure that it is never leaked."

She nodded before turning her eyes to the engraved runes again. "My Lord, there are two different teachings written here."

"Yes, one is for the Lightning Dragons," Maximilian explained. "It will help you reach the Celestial Realm easily. The other one is for the Dragon of Death, me. Don’t try to decipher it or it might cause damage to your brain."

"My Lord! This is a priceless gift!" Evangeline jumped at Maximilian in excitement, her face brightened with a serene smile. "Ummahhh~" She kissed him on the cheek. "I really love it. Thank you so much."

As she parted, Maximilian didn’t utter a word, looking at her with an unreadable expression. He moved closer and suddenly pressed his lips against hers. At first, her eyes widened, taken aback by the sudden kiss. But then, they slowly closed as she gave in to the warmth of her Lord.
