Chapter 470 - 442: Dismantling the Bone Claw

Chapter 470: Chapter 442: Dismantling the Bone Claw

Although he knew the path ahead would be fraught with danger, Fang Chenyi could only bite the bullet and press on. He had no other way out.

He stood on the deck, letting the cold wind blow over him for a while as he sorted through the recent events in his mind and considered what his next steps should be.

By the time Fang Chenyi returned to his senses, the sky had already begun to darken. The round sun was slowly sinking toward the horizon.

Back in his room, Fang Chenyi suddenly remembered the Bone Claw in his woven bag.

He had nothing better to do at the moment, so it was the perfect time to take it out for a closer look.

He took out the woven bag and used his trash tongs to lift out the enormous Bone Claw, placing it on the floor of his room.

It wasn’t that Fang Chenyi didn’t want to put it on the table, but the thing was simply far too heavy.

The small wooden table in his room would never be able to support its weight.

Looking at the giant Bone Claw, Fang Chenyi plopped down right in front of it and began to examine it carefully from every angle.

Back in the stone hall, even with the beam of a searchlight, he hadn’t been able to get a very detailed look.

Now, even though the sun had set, the sky wasn’t completely dark yet. Coupled with the room light that Fang Chenyi had switched on, the entire Bone Claw was laid out before his eyes in exceptional clarity.

The Bone Claw was a milky white, but Fang Chenyi felt it looked more like it was made of metal.

Upon closer inspection, he could see a faint, dark metallic luster shimmering beneath the milky-white surface.

Peeking through a tiny gap in the Bone Claw, Fang Chenyi could still see a dazzling gleam of light from within.

Fang Chenyi was now intensely curious about what exactly the Bone Claw was clutching.

But he had tried before and failed. He had no way to open it; his dagger had even shattered in the attempt.

He shook his head helplessly, unsure of what to do.

But then, his gaze fell upon the trash tongs lying nearby. Fang Chenyi’s eyes suddenly lit up.

’That’s right, how could I forget?’ he thought. ’A special-grade steel dagger couldn’t pry it open, but that doesn’t mean my tongs can’t!’

’My trash tongs are a real treasure. They can negate all weight, which means they can exert an unstoppable force!’

The thought spurred him to action. Fang Chenyi immediately snatched the trash tongs.

CLICK, CLICK, CLICK. He snapped the tongs in the air a couple of times. His eyes fixed on the Bone Claw as a mischievous grin spread across his face.

"Heh heh, I refuse to believe it," he muttered. "No matter how tough you are, can you be tougher than my tongs?"

Muttering to himself, Fang Chenyi clamped the tongs directly onto one of the claw’s bony fingers. He twisted with all his might. CRACK!

In the next moment, one of the bony fingers had been completely snapped off by the trash tongs.

"Hahaha! It actually worked!"

With one of the bony fingers now broken off, Fang Chenyi’s face was alight with excitement. He eagerly peered at the Bone Claw.

He was dying to know what the Bone Claw was clutching.

With one of the bony fingers broken, a small part of the object inside was revealed. As his eyes focused on it...

Fang Chenyi grew puzzled. From what he could see, the object looked perfectly round, almost like a bead.

Its color seemed to be a sky blue, and he had the strangest feeling that he could see currents of water swirling within it.

But even with one finger broken, not much was revealed. His view of the bead inside was still unclear.

So, he clamped the tongs onto the Bone Claw once more. With a hard twist and another loud SNAP, a second piece of the claw broke off.

This time, the spherical object was almost completely exposed. He reached out and touched it, and was shocked to feel an icy chill spread from his palm throughout his entire body.

He snatched his hand back in a panic, unable to suppress a full-body shiver.

"What the hell? What is this thing? Why is it so cold to the touch?"

Fang Chenyi was truly bewildered. Touching the spherical object felt like he was about to be frozen solid.

And yet, he hadn’t felt the slightest chill from it before, neither in the stone hall nor when standing right next to it just now.

Looking at the fist-sized, azure bead, Fang Chenyi ignored it for the moment and used his tongs to break off the last bony finger holding it in place.

This time, the blue bead fell to the floor with a CLINK.

He gathered the now-shattered Bone Claw and the broken-off digits, tossing them all into the woven bag. Only then did he turn his attention back to the small, azure bead on the floor.

The entire bead was as transparent as glass, and this time, Fang Chenyi could see it with perfect clarity.

Within the bead, there were indeed faint, undulating waves, just like flowing water.

’What on earth is this thing?’ Filled with a mix of doubt and curiosity, Fang Chenyi reached out and once again tried touching the bead with his finger.

The instant his finger made contact with the bead, that same icy chill surged through his entire body.

He shuddered, but this time, Fang Chenyi didn’t pull away. Instead, he scooped it up into his hand.

....

The moment Fang Chenyi’s palm closed around the azure bead, a series of system notifications suddenly echoed in his mind, stunning him.

It took him a moment to remember that he hadn’t thrown the bones into the woven bag’s *inventory space*, but simply tossed them into the physical bag itself.

Doing that was essentially the same as trying to recycle them, so it was no wonder the system had sent a notification.

What Fang Chenyi hadn’t expected, however, was that the system would fail to recycle the items yet again. ’Not only that, but it modified the Bone Claw I threw in? What’s the deal with that?’
