Chapter 943: Chapter 928: Ambush Battle (14)
"Company commander, what do we do next?"
Old Xu rubbed his chin and thought for a moment, then lifted the curtain.
Right now the Japanese students were all lost in sweet dreams; he didn’t need to worry about them noticing anything "off" on their side.
"I already told Hua Biao and the others we’ll rendezvous at the entrance. So the main problem now is getting the key to the iron gate."
"Got it! There’s a Japanese student in that duty room now, the key should be on him. I’ll go take care of him." Lei Tong was about to move. Old Xu grabbed him in one go:
"Hold up!"
"What is it, Company commander? Something still not right?"
"No, how about the other students’ positions right now, after I left, did they make any new moves?"
"No! All sleeping like pigs. I figure the whole night, as long as you don’t call them up, they won’t have any reaction at all."
"Watanabe? Still in that classroom?" Pointing at the conference room, Old Xu asked in a low voice.
"Yeah, still in the conference room."
"I see..." Hearing this, Old Xu couldn’t help but furrow his brows.
According to the original plan, he intended to hit Watanabe first—capture the ringleader to catch the gang—but the guy was currently passed out in the conference room, and there were a bunch of Japanese students gathered there. Under those conditions, wanting to grab him was really not an easy job.
"Alright! Let’s go to the entrance and get the key first!" After thinking it through, right now Hua Biao and Li Xiaoxin were on their way to the school and would reach the main gate soon. So Old Xu decided to get the key first, let Hua and Li into the buildings, then figure out the next step.
"Little Derek, Demmi, once we go out, you two stay inside. Before the action is fully completed, don’t go out. And Lina is in your hands. If something really goes wrong and the plan fails, remember, push all the responsibility onto me and Lei Zi."
Even though he didn’t want to pressure the youngsters, special forces operating protocols meant you had to anticipate everything.
Sure enough, after listening to Old Xu’s words, Demmi’s cheeks—which already had no trace of blood—went instantly bone-white.
Derek felt the change in his girlfriend at his side, quickly reached over and pulled her into his arms. After nodding to Old Xu to say "understood," he gently stroked Demmi’s back and comforted her: "Darling, don’t be afraid, Old Xu and the others will pull off the mission. Even if something really does happen, you still have me, I’ll protect you."
A lover’s words outweigh a thousand troops; Derek’s short speech made warmth rise in Demmi’s heart.
For Demmi, at the life-and-death crossroads, having her beloved Derek at her side gave her confidence and determination to face whatever might come.
Watching this pair of young lovers who clung to each other and refused to abandon one another in the midst of danger, Old Xu felt both moved and quietly resolved that no matter what, he was taking this mission down tonight.
He had to give this couple a good future; he was going to get them out of this "land of corpses" alive and let them live under the sun again.
He tucked the pre‑sharpened dagger into his clothes—calling it a dagger was generous; it was actually just a toothbrush handle with the "tooth head" snapped off and honed razor‑sharp.
This kind of improvised blade was the most common weapon in prison. Don’t be fooled by its crude shape—put it in the right hands and it becomes a "Big Killer" that takes lives without blinking.
Besides, in truth, with the skills Old Xu and Lei Tong had, even without this "Big Killer" they could still kill without leaving a trace.
After more than ten years of military life, their entire bodies had long since been tempered into killing weapons.
Everything ready, Old Xu and Lei Tong went back to the door.
Old Xu lifted the curtain to confirm there was no one in sight, then immediately opened the door, hunched down, and darted out. Lei Tong followed close behind; the two of them were like night‑prowling tomcats, silent as ghosts, vanishing quickly into the dark.
"They’ve gone?" Nestled in Derek’s arms, Demmi asked softly.
Derek looked at the half‑closed door and nodded lightly: "They’re gone. The operation has begun."
Under cover of darkness, Old Xu and Lei Tong moved easily along the corridor.
The Japanese students, fast asleep, had no idea danger was approaching.
Old Xu was the first to feel his way to the entrance duty room door; the moment he settled there he could faintly hear snoring from inside.
He made a confirmation gesture to Lei Tong; receiving the signal, Lei Tong put his hand gently on the door handle and pushed. The door was locked from the inside.
Lei Tong could only frown and shake his head helplessly. Old Xu raised his brows and glanced at the window above; seeing that the window wasn’t fully latched, he immediately gestured to Lei Tong again.
Then he slowly eased his head out, taking a peek into the room.
Even though the classroom was pitch‑black, Old Xu, long used to working in the dark, could still clearly see the Japanese student sleeping sprawled out flat on the floor.
After confirming the situation inside, Old Xu raised his hand and showed a single finger, telling Lei Tong there was one Japanese student inside.
The result matched Lei Tong’s earlier observation.
Once their eye contact and silent exchange were done, Old Xu noiselessly pushed aside the unlatched window.
To keep the hinges from creaking, Old Xu moved it extremely slowly; what could have been done in an instant, he dragged out for more than two full minutes.
Even so, he only opened a gap of less than ten centimeters.
But for Old Xu, that was more than enough.
Through the gap, Old Xu bent his arm and reached into the room; after feeling around for a bit, he smoothly found the handle of the main door.
He turned the lock lightly. With a soft "click," the door lock opened from inside.
Old Xu slowly drew his hand back, and thankfully, the Japanese student snoring away inside didn’t notice a thing.
From this alone you could tell just how exhausted and wild their midnight revelry had been.
Old Xu waited another two minutes to make sure everything was OK before giving Lei Tong the signal to infiltrate.
Lei Tong set his hand on the door, took a deep breath, and just like Old Xu, he didn’t push the door wide open.
He opened it just enough to slip through, then flashed inside.
Old Xu stayed in place on guard. He knew perfectly well that for dealing with the waste inside that room, Lei Tong alone was more than enough. His job was to watch the other rooms and be ready in case anything changed.
Lei Tong inched forward in the dark. He was already tall and broad; now, creeping low along the floor, his posture looked like a leopard hunting at midnight.
The toothbrush‑sharpened dagger was clenched in his teeth, and his pair of tiger eyes glowed with a chilling light in the darkness.
Very soon he reached the Japanese student who was sleeping soundly.
The Japanese student was burrowed into a messy nest of blankets, his cheeks flushed red from the alcohol, a clear sign of how excited he’d been that night.
But those "excited" signs only made Lei Tong furious and disgusted.
His eyes narrowed slightly, and Lei Tong reached towards the Japanese student on the bed.
Then, in a flash too fast to catch, he flipped and pinned the guy beneath him, clamping a hand hard over his mouth. (To be continued.
