S-Rank Harem: I Became My Character with Extra Control Skill
Chapter 315: Overflowing ManaEveryone in the snowy courtyard was feeling the strong, crushing pressure of Ryan's power. The overflowing energy acted like a physical weight pressing directly down on their shoulders.
The snow around them had been blown into the air, leaving the entire area covered in a snowy mist from the massive surge of energy.
The courtyard was completely cleared in a single second. Amidst choked gasps and clear expressions of terror, the large group of people tried to comprehend what was happening.
"P-Poly... this is your fault. You angered the demon king with your comments," Roly spoke with great difficulty. The young demon had her face pressed directly against the cold stone floor. She couldn't move a single muscle in her body under that immense pressure.
"Of course not, you were the one saying bad things," Poly replied, struggling to catch his breath. The young twin was also completely face-down on the ground, sharing the same terrible position as his sister.
With the exception of Helen and Mirian, everyone else had completely collapsed. The swordsman and the archer had managed to resist the initial impact slightly and had only fallen to their knees.
They were in a cold sweat as they bore the weight. The rest of the people were faring much worse.
Mika and Runa were completely pinned to the stone floor. The alchemist and the blacksmith lacked the physical strength to resist something like this. The three massive demon blacksmiths were also face-down, trembling with fear without understanding what was crushing them.
Karol and Irina tried to move their arms without any success.
Ryan spent ten long seconds contemplating that immense power flowing back into his body. He remained completely motionless, unaware that his companions were struggling terribly all around him.
'This is incredible,' Ryan thought, staring at the palms of his gloved hands. He felt a current of pure energy coursing through every part of his being.
'How is it possible that I didn't realize all this time that this relic had been taking so much energy from me?'
Ryan analyzed his own physical and magical state with great surprise. He closed his hands into fists.
'Now I feel like my mana density just doubled in an instant...'
"So much power..." Mirian commented in a whisper. The archer was gritting her teeth and making a huge effort, trying to stand up very slowly.
"T-this is nothing..." Helen said, trying to keep her pride intact in front of the others. The human woman had both hands planted firmly on her knees, withstanding the immense magical pressure so she wouldn't fall face-first to the ground.
"Ryan... if you keep this up, you'll kill the blacksmiths, Runa, and Mika..." Beatrice commented from her position. The infernal was trying to stand up using all her physical strength, but her arms trembled uncontrollably under the weight.
"R-yan..." Irina could barely speak from the floor. The elven princess felt like she couldn't draw air into her lungs and looked at Ryan with deep desperation in her bright eyes.
"Your Majesty..." Alicia commented from the ground, sharing the same suffering as the elf beside her.
And right at that highly tense moment, Lise appeared in the midst of them all. The dragon, who had remained inside the castle hall, arrived quickly wrapped in a strong whirlwind.
Her wind magic immediately dispelled the kicked-up snow that still covered the area, floating like smoke. But as soon as Lise's wind stopped, she also fell to her knees on the stone, crushed by Ryan's constant energy.
'Damn it, I got distracted.'
Ryan reacted instantly upon hearing his companions' voices of suffering. He closed his eyes and breathed slowly to calm his own magical flow. Ryan finally reigned in that massive energy and stored it back inside himself.
The overwhelming pressure vanished from the courtyard in a single second. All around the place, people's ragged breathing could be heard very clearly.
Everyone began to cough and fill their lungs with the cold mountain air. The three robust demon blacksmiths looked as if they had seen a terrifying ghost. Almost everyone sat on the ground, rubbing their arms and necks in sheer relief.
"I'm sorry. This village relic was absorbing a lot of my energy."
Ryan immediately apologized to the entire group for the terrible moment. He walked over to the frightened demons.
"Now that I deactivated it, that energy returned to me and I couldn't control it at first. Is everyone alright?" he asked, kindly holding out a hand to the three blacksmiths from Ophelia's kingdom to help them off the ground.
"Yes... Your Majesty."
The large demons accepted Ryan's help with deep respect and evident fear. They slowly stood up.
"There is no doubt that his power is incredible..." the blacksmiths murmured among themselves with some uncertainty in their voices. They glanced at Ryan out of the corner of their eyes, trying to imagine the true extent of that immense overflowing power.
Mika, Runa, Roly, and Poly also stood up little by little, brushing the dust off their clothes.
"Don't make me endure that again," Runa complained, wiping her face.
"Young master..."
Lise's voice drew the group's attention. The dragon was standing up very gracefully.
"How is it possible that you defeated the demon king Rigal, when you didn't even have half of your full power with you?" Lise said, a deep admiration shining in her large bicolored eyes. She looked at Ryan as if he were a completely invincible being.
Hearing that sharp analysis, the rest of the people in the courtyard began whispering among themselves, completely agreeing with Lise.
Alicia finished standing up and dusted off her clothes with her hands to remove the dirt from the stone courtyard. The beastwoman looked down the long snowy path descending the mountain.
"I think the people at the foot of the mountain must have also suffered from that sudden magical pressure. I'll go make sure everyone is okay down there."
"I'll go with her," Irina commented immediately. The elven princess approached Alicia, ready to help check the health condition of all the newly freed villagers.
"Alright, go ahead," Ryan said, nodding his head, giving them permission to leave the castle and fulfill that important medical check-up task.
Then Beatrice walked up to Ryan. She stood right beside him and confidently bumped her fist against his shoulder.
"That was a bit excessive. Were you trying to kill us all?" Beatrice asked with a half-smile on her face, making light of the extreme situation now that the great danger had passed.
"Of course not, even I was surprised. I didn't expect something like that to happen," Ryan replied, shaking his head and looking at his own hand again.
'If my basic healing skill covered the entire castle before... would it cover the whole mountain now? I'll have to be more careful from now on.'
"Fu fu fu, Ryan. That was incredible," Karol said with great excitement in her voice. The girl jumped quickly and clung tightly to Ryan's right arm.
Mirian jumped to his other arm, clinging to Ryan's left side with the same excitement as her companion, pressing her body against him.
"I can't believe you've gotten so strong," Mirian commented, looking closely at her leader's face, her amber eyes sparkling.
While the two girls praised Ryan's strength, Helen and Lise were unusually quiet. Both women stood a few meters away, ignoring the cheerful interaction. They were staring into the distance, paying close attention to the faint traces of residual energy that had swept past the castle's mountain.
"What's wrong?" Ryan asked, noticing the swordsman and the dragon's long silence and serious attitude. He gently freed himself from Mirian and Karol's grip to give them his full attention.
"Young master, I believe that sudden power must have disturbed all the people of this nation," Lise explained in a very formal and calculating tone. She stopped looking at the horizon and turned her face toward Ryan.
"Now that they felt your power, I think it's a good time to make an appearance before them and have them acknowledge you as their true King."
"Yes, you're right. I've been thinking about doing exactly that for several days now," Ryan answered, completely agreeing with Lise's logic. He needed to establish his official authority over the demons of Kowarre.
"What is the closest city to this castle?" Ryan asked, looking directly at Lise, knowing that she was very familiar with the general geography of this snowy continent.
Lise placed her index finger on her chin, thinking for a few brief seconds to remember.
"Hmm, let's see. There's a small town about twenty kilometers from here, and another slightly larger town thirty-five kilometers away."
"That's not so far, I want to go too," Helen said immediately. The swordsman took a step forward, wanting to stay close to Ryan on this new diplomatic trip and avoid staying in the boring castle.
Mirian and Karol nodded at the same time. The two girls also wanted to accompany him to the nearby towns.
