Sapphyra
Why didn’t I say no? Why did I let myself feel again? Look at what’s happened because of it. Wyatt's damn near in a coma…which shouldn’t be possible, right? He’s back in hologram form so he should be fine. Right?
“I should go get Guy. I’ll get him, don’t worry.” I sniffed back the snot train coming and didn’t bother fighting the tears. Just a minute ago I was crying tears of joy, I was finally one with my husband again. If I’d known that this was the cost? Paying wouldn’t have been on the fucking table.
He blinked. He could still do that much at least.
“System,” I stood, feet pumping to carry me down the hall, “can you tell me what went wrong? Why’s he like this?”
I knew it was a long shot but I also didn’t have many options. Fuck me, I wish I was one percent as smart as Wyatt was. Were we too excited? Did I break his body and speed up the process? If this is my fault…God, I hate myself.
[If you beat yourself up then what will I have to do all day?]
“Not the fucking time!” I bit back.
[Easy. Just trying to lighten the mood. The best I can guess is that he’s getting the backlash from Rhea’s power. I wonder why it took so long? Hm.]
Backlash…he gave Rhea his memories to torture her. We shouldn’t have been shocked that something fought back.
“How do we fix him?” my fist pounded on Guy’s door like I was the police.
[I don’t know. Time, maybe? What you’d really need now is someone who’s an expert in powers, tech, and how they intertwine.]
I had someone. Wyatt.
“Guy! Guy open up, please!” Before I could knock again, the door opened. Guy smelled of fresh cut flowers and some fancy cologne but he wore a towel…and nothing else. He was soaking wet.
“Sapph? I was in the shower—” He blushed, pushing his vision up towards the ceiling.
Oh fuck. I forgot to put my clothes back on.
“Yes, my titties are out. Focus.” I chastised him. “Wyatt can’t move.”
That woke him up. He focused on my face, panic setting into his eyes. “Lead the way.”
I’d never run so fast in my life. When we got back I tried recalling Wyatt with my choker. It didn’t work.
Guy squatted down and tried to gently move Wyatt from under the bed. It worked but Wyatt was blinking in and out of view just like at Ernies.
Guy glanced at the crack in the wall, behind the headboard. He clicked his tongue, mouth forming into a hard slanted line.
“You’ve been busy.” Did this motherfucker really just…
“Not now, Guy.”
“Course not.” he snorted. I know he's probably hurt by that but I can’t focus on that right now.
“Look, if it were you in his place I’d move heaven and hell for you too.” That was the truth and he knew it, he was just bitter about not being inside me too.
“I know…doesn’t mean I have to like it.” He grumbled, examining Wyatt. Wyatt narrowed his eyes at the ceiling, only because he couldn’t turn his head.
“Ugh.” I groaned, running my hand down my face. “System thinks he just needs some time. Something about Rhea's powers giving him backlash? Is that right?”
[That’s the gist of it.]
Guy rubbed his chin. “And so, what, we’re just supposed to wait for him to get better? Any idea how long that’ll take?”
I frowned, reaching out a hand to stroke Wyatt's cheek. Hold on baby.
Something shot out of Guy’s back and smacked the ground. Hard. A massive crack formed in the floor and my heart sank when I caught sight of what made it.
A tail. Blue with a gold tip. Guy…had a tail?
“Guy?” I asked softly.
“Mhm?” He still looked at Wyatt but the look in his eye changed. Jealous? Predatory? Hateful? I don’t think it's quite those words but it’s probably a mix of the two. Shit. I really wish I’d said no to Wyatt now.
Well,I wish I’d said no and meant it.
“Goddammit, Guy, you have a tail now! Pay attention!” I reached out, not yelling at him but urging him to calm down. He’s a descendant, but the runt of the litter. For the longest time, he couldn’t manifest any of his dragon traits. And now? Look at him go.
When my hand touched his arm, something inside him must have snapped because the next thing I knew?
I was on my back, next to Wyatt, with Guy over top of me breathing hard as fuck.
One of his hands held both my wrists, holding me in place but not hurting me. All that hate evaporated when he looked down at me again. His hair bun had come undone, giving him dark curly curtains around his face. His hurt was written all over his face and it stabbed at my heart. As if I wasn’t feeling guilty enough.
It also didn’t help that his towel dropped. I looked—I couldn’t help it! Oh my god there was so much of him down there, I almost mistook it for his tail.
And I thought Wyatt was hung.
“Guy—” my throat was so dry. Why is my body giving in like this? There’s no way I’m this fucking horny. I hate my heat—I say that every year but I really hate it now.
“No. You’re gonna listen.” He leans in close. I hold my breath, waiting for a kiss or a bite, something to mark his physical pain. Anything to take my mind off of hurting the two men I love the most.
“Okay. I’m listening.” I whispered.
“Sapph, I was right there. You two…you act like I don’t exist sometimes. I’m so sick and tired of it.” The anguish in his voice broke me. I just wanted to hug him, to make it all better.
“I didn’t plan—”
“No. You didn’t but he did. Somehow, someway, Wyatt knew his time was running short and I bet he fucking planned this down to a Tee.” He sniffed, glancing down at the cum still trickling out of me.
Holy shit, I’ve never been more nervous and turned on at the same time. What is happening to me? Is it the heat? My heat’s never been this bad before.
Something Theia said earlier, echoed in my head.
“When an egg hatches during the festival and your soulmate is somewhere, it will point you in their direction.”
“Guy. Your egg. When it hatched…where did it lead you?”
He laughed, rueful and bitterly. “You haven’t figured it out yet? Think real hard about where I spent most of my time growing up.”
“Wyatt’s room?” He nodded.
“I didn’t just go there because it was cool and it was the truth about the past. I went there to be surrounded by my soulmates.”
“Mates?” I gasped.
“Yes. Cleanup girl. Mates as in plural. Not just you, angel.” He glared at Wyatt, though his face softened after a few seconds. He leaned over, surprising both me and Wyatt when he pressed his lips to Wyatt's.
“That’s right, Cotton-Candy Dipshit. Both of you are my mates. ”
