I wasn’t sure how to take that. It sure as hell wasn’t what I was expecting. More importantly….

“Guy, I need you to get off me…and put some clothes on.”

He folded his arms. “Yes but no.” He climbed off of me but slid in between Wyatt and I, crossing his arms.

“So what, you’re throwing a temper tantrum right now? Really?”

“Damn right I am. I’m pissed at you two. Although I guess I should thank you for making me mad enough to finally show my dragon heritage.” He idly twisted his tail back and forth, getting used to it. I remember those experimental days. But now isn’t time for a trip down memory lane.

“Hooray for your tail. We have bigger fish to fry right now.” I reminded him, he rolled his eyes.

“Yeah. I get it. You wanna save your precious husband.” He sighed, smoothing over his face.

[I hate to add to the drama]

“I didn’t program you to lie.” I smirked, watching the system menu scan Wyatt's body. Its light scanned my necklace next.

[Bitch, I’m trying to be serious for once. Wyatt’s vessel has taken on extensive damage. The gem’s cracked.]

My blood ran cold and I slowly sat up. I unclasped the choker with trembling fingers. She was right, the gem wasn’t just cracked though: a tiny sliver had broken off.

It had to be a trick of the light. When had it cracked? How could I have let this happen?

“Tell me you can fix it.” I pleaded in a whisper, clutching the stone like I could heal it with guilt.

[I’m sorry, Sapph. If I could I would.] I almost believed her.

“So what options do we have?” Guy asked, all traces of anything but concern erased from his face. It's about time he locked in on helping Wyatt.

[Hang on, lemme think]

“Think fast.” I mumbled, running my fingers over Wyatt's blinking face. What must he be feeling right now? Paralyzed and slowly vanishing before our eyes, it must be hell on earth. I leaned forward and kissed his forehead.

“I’m so sorry honey.” I mumbled, trying to hold him together with tears and prayer.

[Okay, I have an option…but I don’t think Guy and Wyatt are going to like it very much]

“Anything is better than this. Just tell us what it is.”

Guy said nothing but he was focused on Wyatt, brushing stray dust particles away from his face. In this moment, seeing him tender with Wyatt despite being furious with both of us…

This is the moment I fell in love with Guy.

If he really does love both of us and wants this to work then I’ll find a way. I swear it. We just have to save Wyatt first.

[It’s just a theory but…what if Wyatt put himself inside of Guy.]

I scratched the top of my head, trying not to smile at Guy's wrinkled nose.

“I think I get what you’re going for but wouldn’t that just make Wyatt fade for good?”

[I said what I said. You wanted options, I gave you a theoretical one. Anyway, I’m basing it off of his time punishing Rhea. If he can feed her memories—]

“Then Guy should be able to take them. That’s if he wants and if Wyatt even wants.”

Wyatt blinked up at the ceiling. I moved in front of his face so he could face me.

“Blink twice if this sounds like a good idea.”

One blink.

“Okay, blink twice if it sounds like your only shot.”

He blinked once, then twice slowly, like he was really weighing his options.

“Alright. Let’s do it then.” Guy sat up, putting an elbow on his knee cap.

My brows furrowed and I squinted at him. “Guy? Are you sure?”

“Hundred percent.” He snorts, seemingly disinterested.

“I don’t believe you.” I admitted, crossing my arms.

He pursed his lips and shook his head.

“Look. Have I lied to you yet?”

“No.”

“Does it feel like I’m lying to you now?”

I shook my head. “Lying isn’t the problem. Guy this is a life-changing thing. You’re basically taking in all of Wyatt to save his life—”

“Mhm, I know that hon.” He said that like he was talking to a child.

This next part I delivered slowly, measured. “That means you’re also taking in all of his memories…memories he’s had with me.”

He didn’t waver, looking me right in the eyes like a fire was lit under his ass.

“How can you be so casual about this? This is—this is insane, Guy. You see that, right?” Of course he saw it. But if what he said was true, that he spent his life reading and dreaming about Wyatt and I—I couldn’t blame him for wanting this.

I just wish I could live up to the hype.

“Do it. I’m not afraid. And if this helps him, it’ll make me happy.” He gave me a soft smile and cupped the side of my face. “I’m in it for the long haul and I’m blessed with not one but two mates. I’ll be damned if I don’t die trying to save them both.”

“Guy…” I whispered softly, brows furrowed in confusion. I understood why he was doing this but not really. “Are you absolutely sure? Whatever happens next, I just—I don’t want you to…” the words wouldn’t come to me.

“You worry too much. Heh, it's what I love about you, honestly.” And just like that he brushed me off and turned back to Wyatt, determination in his eyes. But I couldn’t ignore the bitterness in his words. The question I’d been shying away from for weeks was rearing its ugly head.

Could I handle losing either of them?

I don’t think I’m strong enough to but I’m not strong enough to tell Guy no, either. Not at the cost of losing Wyatt. Dammit, what did I do to be put in this situation?

“I’m ready when you are, big man.” Guy mumbled, pressing his forehead to Wyatt's fading one. By now his body was half invisible, like a printer that ran out of ink halfway through printing. This really was our only shot, though I hate to admit it.

“Wyatt.” It was all I could do to stop my voice from breaking. “Blink twice if this is what you want. We can find another—”

Two blinks, quicker than the last ones. He’s sure about this. Or he’s scared—its so hard to tell.

“Are you scared?” I whispered, chest tightening. Two blinks. “But you’re doing it anyway? Fuck, of course you are. What other options do we really have, right?”

One single tear followed by two blinks. God.

Guy took my hand, interlocking our fingers. I grasped him tightly, nodding.

“I’m right here, Wyatt. Go ahead.”

Wyatt closed his eyes, like he’d been waiting for permission to rest his soul—to let go. It fucking broke me on the inside but I had to hold it together long enough for them.

After a few nerve-wracking seconds, Wyatt's body turned into pure light. The light blinded the room and poured into Guy's body. I had to shield my eyes. The temperature in the room rose—it was so hot the wallpaper started melting. It was quiet, and that’s what unnerved me the most. Guy didn’t groan or recoil, he just gritted his teeth and let it happen. When it was finished, Guy lay back on the bed, glowing eyes wide open.

“Guy?” I whispered, poking his side.

Sorta.” The weary ethereal voice that answered me back was most definitely not Guy.

What the hell have we done?
