“You’ve kept all this delicious power to yourself?!” Hyperion shouted while throwing a myriad of strikes at me. I’m trying not to take this shit personally. I know he’s just a battle hungry slut but—wait, his eyes.
Hyperion’s eyes were bloodshot. They weren’t like that the last time we fought.
“Hyperion—” my tail shielded me from most of his attacks, "something's wrong with you. Your eyes are bloodshot.” Bloodshot eyes alone could be any number of things. Now’s not the time for me to think the worst.
Hyperion laughed, deep and inhuman. Blood dripped from his mouth, not from any hit in the mouth. My stomach sank with dread. I shook my head, fighting my heart. He still had my hair in his hands so I did the only thing I could think to do. I used my tail to razor my hair off and free myself.
“No.” I whispered, trying to get distance from him.
“Surprised to see me, Dragon Queen?! It’s been over 100 years!” That voice. I’d know it anywhere. “Go on. Say my name! I need to hear your sweet despair.”
My bottom lip trembled, “BloodLust.” I spat its name out like a curse. “How long have you been incubating in Hyperion?”
“Not too long. I was in one of those fungus folk for a long time but they’re all boring. Killing them does nothing for me, which is why I had Rupert turn them feral. It’s fun putting down rabid dogs–” his mouth split into a wide grin,” it’s even funner when the rabid dog puts down their loved ones! Mwhaahhaha!” I nearly barfed when his eyes rolled around like eight balls in his head.
Oh shit.
“Rupert–!”
“He gave it away sooner than I would have liked but yes. BloodLust has been wanting to play and in return for its services, I grant it my experiments.” He smiled in front of me, moving out of the way of my punch. “I won’t let him play with you though, no one will have you but me.”
My eye and cheek muscles twitched.
“Say that you’re mine. Tell me who you belong to!”
My fists covered my ears, fighting the memories and demons crowding my mind.
“No. Not again…” I sighed, curling in on myself to protect my stomach. My tail and wings wrapped around me like a second layer.
“We’re soulmates, Sapph.” “The goddess blessed me with two mates.” “You’re a fucking force of nature, Sapphyra.” “He will only hold you back.
“Please….please stop. I don’t want to hear anymore.” Everyone’s always trying to claim me, control me, make me into this thing to be kept. I am not a thing! I am me…and I’m so exhausted with all of them.
“No one will have you but me.”
Heat warped around me. Their blows stopped landing. I could sense their presence moving away from me like they knew something I didn’t.
“System…System?” No response. Fuck, when I raged out I must have lost access to her.
“I thought you wanted to know about your son?! What would you like to know? How about how his little blue with white star blanket felt in my hands?”
Do not react in anger, Sapph. He’s taunting you…and it’s fucking working. Stay protected, be smart.
“Or how he has that birth mark on his upper chest. You know the one, the claw mark—”
A roar ripped from my throat, half rage and half anguish. I uncurled myself and lunged at the sound of his voice. Speaking of claws, mine had returned and I was about to bury them in the side of his neck. Hyperion grabbed me by the waist and flung me back into a ruined apartment complex.
[Pro-Pro-Pro-]
But this time wouldn’t go like last time.
[Program Overrrrr]
Flames licked out of my mouth as I glared up at them both. I’d let the H.R system be my prison for so long but I know it’s still inside me. It can’t be my prison anymore.
[Program Override. System Reset complete. Registering New Admin: Sapphyra. How may I assist you today?]
“System? You’re back!” I whispered. “The locks on my powers, I want them all gone!” I ordered, dodging out of the way of a charging Hyperion. He was out for blood, that was for damn sure. I doubt Rupert really knew what he was up against with BloodLust. No one usually does.
[Draconic bloodline power unlocked. New class forming.]
[Genesis Dragon Class unlocked. Warning, Genesis Dragon class may overwhelm admin after extensive use.]
“I don’t care about that. Just do it!” It wasn’t the first time I’d been a reckless little shit but desperate times call for desperate measures.
[Understood. Welcome to your new class]
“Are you trying to cheat?!” Hyperion snarled, though it quickly turned into a grin. “Good! Face me with everything you’ve got! Because once I’ve got my hands on you…!”
He swung a nasty haymaker at me and I closed my eyes, feeling warmth and light cover me. My arm moved on its own, catching his fist with ease. Unlike the Master Custodian class, there was hella fanfare for this one.
I was naked for about 3 seconds. New clothing covered me like a second skin. I was dressed in a dull white outfit. One hooded long coat with pink trim. My shirt had changed into an armored plate corset that fit me snugly. Gloves, knee protectors, belt buckles and armored pouches all appeared on my waist. At the bottom of my coat there was a pink dragon symbol. Even my wing tips had turned white.
“Holy shit.” I mumbled, twisting Hyperion's hand the opposite way and snapping his wrist.
“Yow! What is this?! New doo, new attitude?” He grinned as his wrist healed almost instantly.
I closed and opened my fist, wondering if all of my strength had finally returned. Only one way to find out.
“Hey BloodLust, you wanna know how I got my nickname; ‘the girl who punched the moon’?”
“Do I look like I give a shit?!” He snarled, foam dripping from his mouth as he hit me with a barrage of punches so fast smoke formed on his fists. I yawned when none of them did any damage.
He blinked, fear washing over his face like a tidal wave. “That’s not supposed to happen…I don’t remember you being like this before! No fair!”
I grinned, all teeth and joy as I cocked my arm back, kissed my fist and winked at him.
“I got the name by doing a little something like this!”
Burying my fist in his gut, I gave it everything I had and then some to knock the wind out of him and send him flying. Launching him like a rocket, he blasted all the way past the orange night sky. I couldn’t see him anymore and that’s all that mattered.
“Stay the fuck off my planet, BloodLust.”
