Kalon had returned to his dorm room to make the decision more carefully.
He weighed both options, trying his best to figure out which choice would be best.
Only then did he realise that he was lacking knowledge.
So, he decided to ask his system if it could give him any information on the two traits.
It gave him a vague answer.
「Both traits have effects outside of simply granting an affinity towards the element’s skills. For example, someone with a Void Soul will thrive whilst in the darkness, whilst someone with a Radiant Soul will prefer to be in the light.」
A simple answer like that made Kalon lean towards choosing the Void Soul.
It was nighttime on Venduros whenever he travelled there, which was the planet he visited most.
However, he couldn’t base his decision entirely on Venduros. After all, he would continue to spend time on more and more planets as he progressed further.
He also had to choose wisely, as it was well known that someone with a Void Soul would significantly reduce their chances of awakening a Radiant Soul, and vice versa.
He only knew of one person who had both affinities.
...
An idea suddenly popped into his head.
Kalon was no longer just a nobody. His followers were above 70,000, and right now he was a popular talking point in the news and across social media.
He could simply reach out to that person and have him help make the decision.
Would he really respond to me...?
There was no harm in trying, and he was in no rush anyway.
...
Kalon navigated his way through the internet and found the social profile of a particular man.

Atlas was one of the most famous fighters in the United Kingdom. More specifically, he was ranked #8 in the country.
He was also well known for the organisation, Atlas Entertainment, which he had established himself and only hired some of the best fighters.
Not even his own son and daughter, who were both among the greatest upcoming prospects, had been allowed to enter.
But most importantly, of course, the man was known for his dual affinity to both light and darkness.
Kalon couldn’t think of a better man to reach out to.
「Hello, you may not know who I am, but my name is Kalon Manchester, and I’m a first-year student at a prestigious academy. I was wondering: which of your two affinities do you prefer, and why? Big fan btw.」
Sent!
This was the message he came up with.
He specifically chose not to mention the academy he was attending, since the man’s children were part of the school he would be facing.
Of course, if Atlas recognised Kalon’s name, which there was a high chance he would, he would figure this out anyway.
Whether he chose to answer then would be up to whether or not Atlas believed it would be detrimental to his children.
The likelihood was low.
Not only did Atlas have full confidence in his children, but he would also suspect that Kalon was just asking the question out of curiosity.
He would never suspect that a first-year, probably Bronze- or Steel-ranked student would somehow awaken such an affinity, especially since he had just awakened an affinity to fire.
But that was because the man wasn’t aware of a little helper known as the Space Seducer System.
Ping!
Kalon’s eyes widened.
His phone notified him with a new message just one minute after he had sent his.
Could it be?
He looked down at his phone and couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
「1+ Message from: Atlas Greatest」
﹂The darkness is preferable for any sane awakened. The burden of being a bearer of the light is heavy.
"..."
Couldn’t you give me a message that was a little easier to understand...?
No, I should be grateful that I got a response anyway. It also seems he didn’t recognise me.
Besides, there’s quite a bit I can gather from this.
Kalon made a wild guess.
He assumed that a Radiant Soul might wish for him to perform good deeds, and punish him if he did otherwise.
Whilst a Void Soul might wish him to do the opposite, which could be seen as natural human nature.
For example, it was a lot easier to be greedy than to be generous. Greed would benefit himself, whilst generosity would only help others.
In the world of entertainment, being a good man wasn’t rewarded so much.
Luckily, this wasn’t the case for Kalon.
He had something that most didn’t.
Empathy for the weak.
Through the years he was bullied, he often found himself wanting to help those in need.
Not only that, but he also wanted to punish the wicked and the evil.
Wouldn’t a Radiant Soul reward him for this?
For this reason, and a few others, Kalon made his decision.
— Radiant Soul
For a brief moment, nothing happened.
Then suddenly...
「Mental Trait Awakened: Radiant Soul」
A warmth bloomed deep within his chest.
It first felt similar to his Emberheart Physique, but something about it was different.
It was... pure.
It felt as if countless tiny rays of sunlight had been ignited inside his soul.
Kalon instinctively shut his eyes.
Golden light seeped through his eyelids, and his heartbeat slowed.
The pure warmth spread through every vein, every muscle, every fragment of his consciousness, gently washing something invisible away.
The process wasn’t painful at all, but rather cleansing.
It felt like numerous negative thoughts and feelings were being repressed into the depths of his mind, whilst other thoughts were pushed to the forefront.
They didn’t determine how he would act, but simply let him know that this was what was expected of him as someone with a Radiant Soul.
Kalon smiled to himself as he realised something.
The desire to fight back against his bullies had only grown stronger.
...
After the process was complete, a second notification immediately followed.
It was the one that told him he had awakened his first light-element skill.
