Kalon left the cafeteria, leaving Thea blushing as he made his way to his next lesson.

It was a lesson focused on affinities, which was ironic. Perhaps the professor had chosen the topic because of the mock battles.

During these lessons, Richard constantly wore a proud look. After all, he was a wielder of the water affinity.

However, most people weren’t even focused on him.

They were focused on Kalon. His affinity was the most surprising, after all.

From the look on the ginger young man’s face, Kalon could tell that it angered him.

In fact, it angered him so much that Richard finally confronted Kalon after the lesson.

It took place in the corridor, and it was the first time they had spoken since the mock battles.

People already had their phones out to record before Richard said a word.

Kalon stood alone in the corridor, staring up at the man who stood before him.

His friends were somewhere nearby watching, but for once, they didn’t approach with him.

Not even his sister, Ruby.

That might have angered him even more.

"You think you’re hot stuff now, don’t you, Kalon? I can tell that the new followers are getting to your head."

Kalon shrugged his shoulders.

"I’m the same man," he replied simply.

"Yeah, right," Richard bellowed, his frustration increasing. "I can tell from the way you’re looking at me that you think you’re better than me now. Better than all of us."

Richard stepped closer, taking on a more aggressive stance.

Kalon didn’t flinch. He found it hard to even take the guy seriously.

"Maybe I need to remind you of who you really are," Richard said. "A third-rate victim."

The words made the crowd gasp.

It wasn’t a reaction that would usually come from such words. After all, much worse had frequently been said directly to his face.

The difference was that this time, Kalon wasn’t bothered at all.

In fact, in his head, he was running through all the different ways that he could destroy Richard right there and then.

Provoke him until he attacked before using Astral Counter on his skill and returning the force back to him.

Activate Ninefold Sunbreaker and launch one of the spheres towards him, b his entire body.

No, water was strong against fire. Maybe Richard had come up with a way to miraculously defend against an SSS-Rank fire skill.

In that case, he could use Crown of Heaven to turn himself into a force of speed that could blitz through the attack whilst hitting with melee attacks infused with Radiance.

All these possibilities were exciting to think about, but what Kalon actually did was smirk.

A simple smirk was enough to make Richard’s blood boil, especially since it was an expression he had never seen Kalon make.

Before he could react, he was cut off by the sounds of people hurriedly leaving the area.

Someone seemed to have said something that frightened them.

Richard turned and caught a glimpse of what they were saying.

"Fuck that... I don’t want to be anywhere near that skill."

"If he lets it rip, I don’t think I have any chance of surviving."

"I want to watch, but my life’s more important."

People stopped their recordings and scurried away from the corridor.

Richard’s face scrunched.

"Running away... because of him?"

He looked like he wanted to do something. His fingers were balled into fists.

But then, suddenly, he relaxed and let out a deep sigh.

"Cowards... Just a bunch of cowards."

He spat on the floor, turned, and began walking away, leaving Kalon standing mostly alone in the corridor.

...

The rest of the day went by uneventfully.

...

On the way back to his dormitory after the day had ended, Kalon felt a vibration from his phone.

He only had certain notifications turned on, which meant that whatever this was, it was important.

Could it be Thea asking to train again?

Kalon turned on his phone and saw a new message.

「1+ Message from: Sun Greatest」

Why did you message my father asking about light and darkness?

As soon as he saw the message, he stopped walking and stared at his phone screen.

This... was a situation he hadn’t expected.

Sun Greatest was the daughter of Atlas Greatest. She was also one of the greatest prodigies attending the Awakened Academy.

It seemed that although Atlas might not know Kalon’s name, she certainly did.

It only made sense for an academy student to keep track of the names making waves in the media.

Yet he didn’t expect her to message him so directly.

I wonder what she looks like?

Putting that thought aside, Kalon responded.

Just curiosity.

Regardless of who she was, he wasn’t going to suck up to her.

She was just another student, just like him.

A few seconds after he had sent the message, Sun replied again.

「1+ Message from: Sun Greatest」

Keep your curiosity to yourself. But if you want to know so badly about the Light, I will show it to you in the tournament.

Kalon stared blankly at his phone screen again.

Was that a threat?

She doesn’t even know that I’m now a bearer of this ’light’ as well...

With a great sigh, he pocketed his phone and continued heading to his dorm room.

It seemed that no matter what decisions he made, he would always end up making enemies somewhere.

However, he had to admit that part of him was excited about what she had said.

With his newfound strength, Kalon was looking forward to fighting in the upcoming tournament, since it was almost certain that he would be selected to participate.

He only hoped that he would be able to find a sponsor before then.

And also a partner to enter with...

...

Nighttime arrived, and Kalon made his way up to the rooftop of the dormitory.

It was once again time to visit his planets.

Josinia was waiting for him on Venduros, and after she had pleasured him with her mouth the last time they had met, she would surely be waiting for them to further progress their relationship.

Sifa was waiting for him on Cryos, wounded and healing in the medical room after her encounter with the yeti.

He decided that travelling to Cryos first was the wisest choice, so that he could make sure the woman was in good condition.

He was also curious as to why she had been outside during the Ice Horde anyway.
