Whilst sitting in the academy cafeteria the next day on Earth, Kalon went over the entirety of his system.

It had been a while since he had done so.

He was currently sitting at six skills in total, all of them SSS-Rank.

He had no titles, and his attributes were all average for a first-year student, other than the stat being buffed by Daily Blessing.

My physical and mental traits are all looking good as well...

Suddenly, Kalon was disrupted by a tap on the shoulder.

It drew him from his thoughts and also made him realise that there was a lot of chatter going on around him.

A lot of it was about him.

Kalon turned around to find two students standing over him.

At first, he wondered whether his days of being bullied were trying to return.

Then he got a good look at the students.

He knew them well: Jason and Matthew. Both weak students who couldn’t harm a fly, but who had still been stronger than the old him.

Kalon remembered being beaten by them in physical training before, although that could never happen now.

"Morning, Kalon," messy-haired Jason said, scratching his head and looking at his phone.

"Morning, Kalon," Matthew repeated.

Kalon blinked and spooned some more food into his mouth.

Why are these two approaching me?

"Morning. Something wrong?"

Jason continued looking at his phone awkwardly.

"I was just wondering, are you going to reply to what Sun posted about you?"

"Huh?"

Kalon was left confused.

Since when did Sun post about me?

I should really start checking my social media more often now.

Is that why everyone’s talking? Sun is popular, after all.

"I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ll check in a moment."

After giving his response, the two boys nodded and headed off.

Afterwards, Kalon finished his meal and checked out Sun’s social profile.

...

"Ahh..."

Kalon saw the reason why everyone was talking about him.

It was practically a declaration of war from one of the biggest prospects in amateur fighting.

Did she really have to post about this publicly?

I guess this is how people get excited for a fight...

...

But it’s not even confirmed that I’m entering, let alone facing her?!

Kalon let out a deep sigh and listened to the words being whispered around him.

"A public mention from Sun? His followers are gonna skyrocket."

"Is it worth it, though? In return, you have to make yourself an enemy of her and her family. You know how protective Moon is over his sister."

"Kalon doesn’t have any posts on his social media page. If he doesn’t respond, what are they gonna say about him?"

"Nothing, probably. Who can blame him? I wouldn’t reply to her and risk getting my ass beat. I’d rather be the one doing something to her ass..."

These whispers made Kalon realise something.

They were right. He had yet to make a single post on social media.

That was because he had never had any followers to post for.

Now, however, he had 75,000 followers.

And something to post about.

Amidst the chatter, Kalon started typing on his phone.

The words he wanted to say didn’t require much thought.

That was because it was a very short post.

Afterwards, he hit send and left the cafeteria, leaving everyone to gossip about what he had just posted online.

"@TheSun There’s not a chance that you beat me." — @KalonManchester

Before he even left the room, he heard gasps of surprise.

...

Kalon’s followers shot up to 80k after being mentioned by Sun and responding to her.

He was also contacted by a few news organisations asking to interview him about the upcoming Duo Tournament.

Of course, he didn’t accept. After all, he hadn’t even entered the tournament yet.

It was taking place in just under a month, and in order to enter, you had to submit an entry form to the headmaster. Only if he accepted it would you be placed into the bracket.

However, Kalon was missing one thing that was required to submit his entry.

A partner. Two people needed to sign one form together.

And the surprising thing was, he wasn’t lacking options.

He had actually received four messages from students asking to partner with him.

The problem was that none of them were special.

They also clearly just wanted to use him and his fire affinity to carry themselves to the final round.

Kalon knew that if he was going to enter, he needed to choose a partner he not only trusted, but also had faith in.

This was why he sent Thea Bluegale a message that night.

It was a simple message asking if she already had a partner for the tournament. If not, he suggested that they team up.

Only ten seconds after sending the message, he received a response.

「1+ Message from: Thea Bluegale」

Let’s partner up! Do you want to meet me at my house to sign the entry form right now?

Kalon blinked a few times at the message.

Her house?

He swiftly typed up a response.

Sure. I’ll be there soon.
