"So umm... what are you going to do about the mess?" Kalon asked.

He looked down at the floor.

There were trails of nectar and berry juice spread across it.

Priestess Nyphara was on her feet now, glossy and messy.

She started walking towards a door that led to the back rooms of the cathedral.

"I will clean up in the bath, then come and mop the floors. If you could do me a favour and lock the door outside using the tree branches... people will know that it’s closed once you have."

Kalon nodded at the woman, and she flashed him that warm smile again.

The smile looked a bit different though, now that her body was filled with lingering pleasure.

She stopped at the door and looked back one last time.

"Please visit again someday, Kalon Manchester."

And with that, she entered the room and closed the door behind her.

Kalon was left standing alone in the cathedral.

He turned and looked at the Mother Tree, wondering whether the plant actually had some sort of sentience or power.

Afterwards, he made his way to the exit of the cathedral and opened the two double doors leading outside.

When he stepped out there, he was first hit with a very earthy smell.

Despite the sky being relatively dark, he could still tell that it was daytime, since there was a small sliver of light being provided by a sun hidden behind the sky, but not much.

As for the city that he found himself in, it was incredible.

The cathedral was located at its centre, at the top of a large staircase.

Below, there was a city that was mostly brown and green, and made from trees, plants, and fungi.

The houses were tightly packed together, and the roads were giant leaves that connected different parts of the city.

This sight stretched as far as Kalon could see.

Is this city even bigger than the resistance city?

Kalon looked at the doors of the cathedral.

There were two trees growing on either side of them.

He was able to pull the branches down from each of the trees so that they covered the doors.

That should do it.

There were no other Veylorians there to witness it, but once they arrived, they would know that the cathedral was closed.

That gave Nyphara time to clean herself up and process what had happened to her.

With that sorted, Kalon decided to explore the city a little bit before its people woke up from their sleep.

He travelled along leaves and branches, walking past different establishments.

This helped him get a feeling for how developed the planet was.

The city had some sort of railway system which allowed travellers to submerge themselves in a giant drop of water that travelled through the city at rapid speeds.

They had academies, stores, stadiums, and much more.

Yet at the centre, and above everything else, was the cathedral that was run by Priestess Nyphara.

No wonder she is the top target.

There was another building bigger than the others, which was the House of Government.

This was likely where that Matriarch lived.

As for the planet’s larger conflict, Kalon soon figured out what was going on by reading a poster on a wall.

It was a poster designed to motivate the townspeople.

It told them not to fear the Berry Pickers, as the Mother Tree would soon bring punishment upon them.

Kalon was told by the system that these Berry Pickers were people who forcefully picked the berries that sprouted from the tops of Veylorians’ heads.

If the berries were not harvested through natural means, they would severely damage the person they belonged to.

As for why these Berry Pickers were doing it forcefully, it was because the berries were stronger when picked by force, and could be used to advance to greater ranks for Veylorians.

...

With that understood, Kalon finally returned to Earth.

He had only spent a few hours on Veylora, which still gave him plenty of time to travel to Cryos and Venduros.

But first, he needed to inspect his rewards.

[SSS-Rank Active Skill Rewarded]

[(SSS) Photon Slash]

~ Type - Light (Radiance)

~ Cooldown - 15s

~ Swing a blade of pure light that extends ten meters. Leaves a lingering trail that lasts for 15 seconds and damages anyone crossing it.

...

The first reward was the active skill, belonging to the Light domain.

There was no way to know exactly how powerful the strike was without trying it. However, Kalon was able to get a grasp of it just from its distance alone.

A ten-meter blade slash of pure light.

Just the thought of it excited him.

He wondered whether it would allow him to sever body parts.

Official matches often ended that way, and it always became a highlight of someone’s career.

It was gruesome, but since they couldn’t die during official bouts, it was loved.

After reading the description of this skill, Kalon was given his next reward.

「Physical Trait Earned」

﹂Tideborn Frame

There was no choice between options this time. He was simply given an affinity.

The affinity towards Water.

He had to admit, after seeing all of the potential affinities that existed in the world and inside his body, he found it slightly underwhelming.

However, it made sense.

The core elements were the most common, so earning them all early on was expected.

After earning the affinity, his body went through numerous processes.

First, it felt like his bladder was filling up.

Next, it felt like he was drowning.

Afterwards, it felt like his entire body had been submerged underwater and left to float.

Then finally, it all went away.

He gained a new understanding of himself and the concept of water.

He felt his body becoming compatible with water skills of all kinds.

Which was why his third and final reward was a passive water skill itself.

[SSS-Rank Passive Skill Rewarded]

[(SSS) Deep Sea Pressure]

~ Type - Water

~ Aggressive enemies near you who lack a Water affinity have their Agility reduced by 6 sub-tiers. What counts as "near you" is determined by your rank.
