Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 138: _Put A Tracker On HimPhoenix Flight HQ
"Please tell me he’s back." Was the first word that came out of Viktor’s mouth when he finally popped up in front of Ambrose’s door.
Alas, Devon was the one who opened it—he took a step back, gesturing at the empty living room. "And he’s still not responding to any of my texts. The calls aren’t even connecting anymore."
Viktor strode in, brushing back strands of his snow-white hair. "What about... cameras?" He snapped his fingers, stretching his neck out for a beat. "You could check them out. Maybe see when he left?"
"I know when he left, Viktor." Devon rubbed a hand down his face, his other hand on his waist. "Although—maybe the cameras outside the building could give us a clue on where he went."
"We should put a tracker on him after this."
"You have no idea how much I’ve begun considering that," Devon walked up to the door. "Let’s go."
"The kid is asleep?"
"Yeah, yeah... come on. Let’s make this quick."
They rushed out, Devon glancing back one last time at the suite before locking it. Lucky for them, Orion rarely woke up at night.

When they got to the hallway leading to the Guild’s surveillance room, Devon nearly paused when they walked past someone.
"Han?" He arched a brow, signalling Viktor to stop as he snapped his neck backwards. "What the heck are you doing up here?"
Guide Han froze in his tracks but didn’t bother looking back. "I’m a member of the Guild."
"That doesn’t answer my question."
"No," the Guide murmured. "But it sure does show I have as much right as anyone else to be here."
Viktor stood at the side, eyes flicking between the two awkwardly.
Devon’s fists clenched.
Ever since the last time he and the Guide exchanged words he’s been on the lookout. Not to mention the sheer fact that Cecil stated plainly that he sent him to kidnap Orion.
Dead man or not, he believed every word that came out of the Esper’s mouth that day.
"Well," Han pushed a strand of his raven black hair behind his ear. "If that’s all—I was just about to leave."
He didn’t wait, continuing down the hallway with his hands in his pockets. It took everything in Devon for him to tear his eyes off the bastard’s back.
"That wasn’t tense at all." Viktor faked a cough. "You still think he sent—"
"I don’t even doubt it for a minute." Devon shook his head, spinning his body back in the direction they were headed. "Come on."
Once they got to the surveillance room, his eyes scanned the place once before pinning on the monitors mounted on the wall ahead.
The officials seated there angled their heads to him, exchanging a surprised glance. "H–Hunter Devon. Good evening." One of them got up and offered a salute. "What—"
"Show us surveillance footage from the lobby and right outside the building," Devon went straight to the point, marching to them. "Time stamps should be between five PM and seven."
There was only a beat of pause before the officials went ahead with his orders. Viktor came to his side, folding his arms in front of him.
"So, if we’re able to see what direction he went... we could find him?"
"Make a wild guess, at least," Devon took in a shuddering breath. "This is our best bet for now. Hopefully, we’re able to get a clue."
"And if we can’t?"
Devon’s jaw flexed. His eyes narrowed as he stared keenly at the monitors. "... Then we’d have to carry out something rasher."

BOOM!
"Argh—fuck!" Ambrose screamed in pain, his wrists snapping as he got flung back.
The armadillo beast had struck him in its curled form—he managed to stab his Dragon Fang blade into it but it only seared in by a few inches.
He’d barely managed to pull out the blade before he got flung back. Skidding through the moss-covered ground, he coughed up blood, clutching his chest with his free hand.
"Shit, shit... God, I might’ve punctured an organ." He lamented, biting back water building up in his eyes.
[WARNING: HP is at 656.]
He took a weak glance at his blade. Cracks were sprawled across it, flickering like embers from burning wood. Neither he nor the blade could take another strike like that again. At least, not without getting irreparable damages.
’I need to think of something fast.’ he stabbed the blade into the ground, using it to push himself up. Every breath felt like his insides were getting punctured by thousands of needles. ’It has to have a weak spot. Somewhere my Burning Ice blast can pierce.’
His eyes wandered over the beast as it unfurled from its ball form. The only ’soft’ spots he could detect were its neck, arms and legs. And even those were sturdier than rocks.
His breathing hitched—but he forced himself to stay still. Watching.
The beast’s massive frame uncoiled fully, standing on two feet again. Its wings twitched once... then stilled.
Ambrose’s eyes narrowed. "...You’re slower like this."
It took a heavy step forward.
No spin. No blur. No overwhelming force. Just weight.
"And you don’t use those wings as much either..." he muttered, recalling how it had moved earlier. On the ground, it relied more on brute strength—grabs, punches... crushing blows.
His pulse steadied despite the pain clawing through his chest. "So that’s your trade-off."
A plan was formed.
Risky. Quite stupid. But perfect.
Ambrose straightened—barely. He didn’t raise his weapons. Didn’t shift his stance. Didn’t even try to run.
The beast roared, clearly interpreting it as weakness.
"Come on then..." he whispered under his breath.
It charged, arms wide and ready to grab. Faster than before.
Ambrose didn’t move. Not even when the ground shook beneath each step. Or when the shadow swallowed him whole.
At the last second, his eyes snapped open. Aether surged as frost and flame ignited between his palms—collapsing into that unstable, hungry glow.
"Got you."
He yanked out the Dragon Fang blade and Frost Dagger in one motion, driving both upward with everything left in him.
SCHLCK!
Steel tore through the beast’s lower jaw. Right into the softest point.
And then—he released it.
The burning ice surged through the blades like conduits, amplifying, compressing and exploding inward.
BOOM!
Light swallowed everything.
A deafening roar of frost and flame tore through the forest—trees snapping, earth lifting, air distorting.
For a moment... nothing. Just a ringing silence.
Then—the smoke cleared.
The beast stood there. Swaying. A gaping, charred void where half its head used to be.
It took one step. Then another. Before its entire body gave out, crashing to the ground with a final, hollow thud.
"Hah..." A broken exhale slipped into the silence.
Ambrose’s body dropped from where it had been slammed against a distant tree—completely motionless before he hit the ground.

His vision swam, fingers twitching weakly against the dirt.
"Fifty-five minutes..." A hollow laugh caught in his throat.
The forest stretched endlessly around him.
The odds didn’t just feel bad now. They felt... impossible.
