Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 139: _Like A Natural DisasterAmbrose leaned against a tree, eyes skimming through info on a system screen. He’d decided to take a look at the system’s shop.
[Host has a total of 6250 coins.]
Seeing those numbers, he browsed through items within that price range.
"Elixir of life," he mumbled, eyes narrowing on a potion bottle with carvings that seemed alien and ancient. "Drinking one bottle of this boosts every stat back to its original state while healing all injuries."
That sounded impressive in hindsight.
But the price? 5500 seduction coins.
[You cheapsteak. Do you know how valuable an item like that would be to Hunters out there?]
"Well, I’m not Hunters out there." He mumbled, shaking his head. "One of my Dragon Fang blades got damaged fighting that A-Rank armadillo. I need something... that can boost my strength."
He had one more trump card he hadn’t used—his system title: Cataclysm Breaker.
A +5 boost to all his physical stats plus 2000 points added to his total EP... for ten minutes. He’s already told himself not to use that skill unless it’s a last resort.
[Buy the Elixir of Life. By the gods, have you always been this cheap?]
As if to add insult to injury, Aura showed him another screen beside the one he was searching through.
[Time left for quest completion: 00:46:39.]
[You’ve been at this for about 10 minutes now. You do remember the penalty for failure right?]
"Of course, I do." Ambrose rolled his eyes.
Looks like he wouldn’t be continuing with new weapons as he had hoped. With a grunt, he pushed himself off the tree, clutching his right shoulder when a stabbing pain hit there.
"Fuck," he hissed. "Fine. P–purchase Elixir."
The system screen flared with a bright blue light before vanishing completely. In its place, a pale purple bottle appeared, hovering in front of Ambrose before landing on his outstretched palm.
He popped the bottle open and downed its contents in one gulp. With a satisfied sigh, he flung it away once he was done, already feeling the changes humming through his bones.
Damaged organs regenerated within seconds. Lost aether replenished itself. Visible external wounds sealed up like they were never there. Broken bones popped back in place.
Ambrose closed his eyes. Soon, he was back to the state he’d been in before coming to this dungeon. Like a restart button.
"That might’ve been helpful after all." He sighed, clenching and unclenching his fists. Then his eyes slid to the body of the fallen A-Rank armadillo.
If only he had sturdy armour like that—this mission would be so much easier to scale.
He sniffled, snapping his neck once. "Let’s get this over with..."
★★★★★
With his fire and frost abilities, Ambrose moved like a living disaster. He slaughtered multiple beasts in his way, all while keeping an eye on the timer.
Most of the beasts were C-Ranks and he managed to collect their cores.
[Seduction coins obtained: 500... 2500... 4000...]
When he took down the last of a group of C-Rank lizards—all that was seemingly left in the forest was silence. No beasts. No rumbling on the earth.
Just this odd feeling... like it was finally over.
Yet his instincts knew for a fact that it was too good to be true.
[Timeleft: 00:26:17.]
Something was wrong. Even in the quiet coiling around the forest the more he tried to listen.
"Tch," he lifted his head slightly while wiping off sweat with the back of his palm. However, just when he was about to lower his gaze—he caught something.
Up in the trees.
Dread slammed into his chest like a hammer. Too late.
The beast struck, uncoiling to reveal its true length. Before Ambrose could even make a sound, it plopped to the ground, using its body to keep him isolated to one spot.
Then it raised its head and upper body, its tongue flicking out as its eyes locked on him.
[WARNING: Beast is an A-Rank Serpent. Middle level. Close to the pinnacle of its rank.]
He didn’t even need the system’s analysis to know that he was cooked. For starters, the pressure from its aether once it was on the ground was enough to make him feel small.
Like a tiny lifeboat in the middle of a typhoon.
Plus, the fact that his spatial awareness hadn’t been able to detect the beast until the last second told him how skilled it was at stealth.
His knees wobbled as he took a couple of steps back. The snake was at least sixty meters long with a width that easily rivalled the thickest trees around.
It had glistening purple scales with golden leopard-like dots that caught the sun’s rays like gemstones. A true beauty—only if he were looking at it through a fucking TV screen.
He’d barely slung out his Dragon fang blades when the snake finally decided it was his time. It lunged, mouth wide open and fangs carved like blades.
Ambrose’s life flashed before his eyes—until instincts kicked in. He jumped backwards, barely avoiding getting swallowed whole while simultaneously leaving the snake’s body cage.
The second he landed on the ground, the snake moved.
SLAM!
Darkness clouded his vision as it whipped its tail at him. The impact stole the air in his lungs and made him loosen his grip on his blades.
The next thing he knew he was rolling through the dirt until he crashed straight into a boulder tens of meters away.
"S–Shit." He grumbled, clutching his belly. "I just fucking healed myself you oversized worm!"
As if the serpent understood him, it screeched, venom spraying out of its fangs in the form of thousands of yellow droplets.
Ambrose’s face paled as he kicked his feet into the ground. The force propelled him into the air, keeping him temporarily suspended tens of meters above.
A flick of his wrist withdrew the dragon fang blades into the system’s storage before bringing them back to his waiting hands.
’It’s fast. Freakishly strong. Plus can spray out venom,’ he thought. ’Reminds me of those centipedes in the Aurelia S-Rank dungeon.’
Those scales on its body weren’t just pretty either. Even from this distance he could tell they were tougher than actual diamonds.
Still suspended mid jump, he slashed both blades forward. The motion created two crescent blasts of blue flames which converged before hurtling toward the beast.
Gravity pulled him back to solid ground in time for him to follow it up with a stomp. Frost spread erratically, covering hundreds of meters of forest land in a thick layer of ice.
Everyone knew serpents were cold-blooded. So hopefully this—
—His tactics shattered with one guttural roar from the serpent. The blue flames hit it in a devastating explosion but they barely left a scratch.
It hissed, those dark gold slits pinning on Ambrose before narrowing slowly. The latter hadn’t even conjured a thought when the beast darted at him like a natural disaster.
In a chest-tightening panic, Ambrose spread out his arms. The surrounding frost answered his call, creating a wall of pure ice that stood high enough to block his vision of the serpent.
SMASH!
The wall crumbled into ice blocks as the beast broke past it. Ambrose’s eyes widened in horror when he realised it had its mouth open.
Every cell in his body was petrified as the world around him blackened until there was nothing but darkness and a putrid, almost acidic smell in the air.
"What—!"
He stabbed a blade into what he assumed was a wall beside him. Then came the question: where did a wall pop out from when he was nearly swallowed a second ago?
The moment he tried to move, the walls moved first.
Thick. Slick. Alive.
It took a few more moments for it to finally click. "This... I’m in the fuckers throat!"
