It didn’t take long to find out where Han’s crew was. The Guild’s training hall—apparently one of the doctors advised them to train their bodies or whatever.

The point is he now knew where they were and could move forward with the next phase of his plan.

Once he got to the hallway leading to the Guild’s training hall, he lifted a hand. The gesture sent out a wave of frost, creeping across the walls and latching onto every surveillance camera.

A clench of his fist made the ice seep deeper until the cameras shut down simultaneously. He smirked, shoving his hands back into his hoodie pockets.

He halted in front of the metal door of the training hall. He’s only been here a couple of times himself since he transmigrated. The past Ambrose came here less.

[You sure you want to go on with this?] Aura asked for what felt like the umpteenth time. [Because once you step into that hall there’s no going back.]

’I know.’ He reached for the door handle, his fingers locking around it calmly. ’But I’ll never walk out until it’s done. You’re in my head... You should know that better than anyone.’

He took in a short inhale.

Burning Ice pulsed from his fingers, coating the handle before quickly spreading into the inner locks. He took a step back as the lock shattered, the door creaking open a second after.

Inside, Han’s cronies worked on their respective training, laughing and exchanging playful jabs. One stood in front of a punching bag, his punches lacking.

Another was on a treadmill. Two sparred in an open space in the middle of the hall, yellow lightning and red energy whips crackling around them.

Four of them.

"This is getting boring!" The one in front of the punching bag stopped just then, wiping off sweat from his forehead. "I wanna go have dinner."

"Relax, lackey." The Esper with yellow lightning powers sniggered. "We’ve barely been here for ten minutes."

"Ten minutes too long." The other one with red energy whips did a backward flip, landing gracefully several meters away. "How’s this training supposed to help us? We barely made it out of that B-Rank dungeon."

"Exactly why our tactics need work." The one on the treadmill huffed. "Although, I would’ve preferred it if we joined those other three when they were here a couple of hours ago."

Ambrose rolled his eyes underneath his hood.

He’d heard enough.

With a shove, the door pushed all the way in, making his presence known. All heads swerved to him as one as he strode in casually.

Silence.

The team blinked with confusion, watching this new party close the door behind him without a word. When he was done, he turned back to them, keeping his head lowered.

Time seemingly froze.

Different thoughts ran through the heads of everyone. But they all managed to circle back to one sentiment.

Who the hell was this?

"Uh..." the Guide on the treadmill turned it off, hopping off with squinted eyes. "You aren’t one of the other people from the B-Rank raid. Right?"

Ambrose didn’t answer.

Instead, he monitored each target with spatial awareness and his heightened senses. They tried keeping a calm front—but their hearts were all over the place, chaotic as they were fearful.

"Yo!" The lightning Esper barked. "Dude, are you deaf? You were asked a question."

Still no answer.

Ambrose glanced at the wall beside the door. On it was a sign: "Soundproof Room".

His eyes glinted with a mischievous light as he spun his neck back to the group. Lightning head was livid at this point, stepping past the others with his hands stretched out.

"You’d better start talking before I zap the living daylights out of you." He sneered, a sizzling yellow light burning in his eyes. "What are you doing here? The creepy silence isn’t helping."

This time, Ambrose didn’t just stay quiet. He raised his head, revealing his glowing blue eyes. Something about the predatory gleam in them made the lightning Esper inch back a step.

’Aura, I’d like to purchase a stealth potion. Let’s make this quick.’

In a blink, a potion with a glowing blue liquid appeared in his right hand. He popped it open, downing its contents in one gulp.

"... Was that a fucking potion?" The Guide from the treadmill appeared to be the only one who sensed the danger they were in.

Too late.

Before the others could catch up, Ambrose vanished from their view.

Panic spread among the group as the lightning Esper finally made a move. He swatted both hands at the ’mysterious stranger’s’ position.

Yellow lightning bolts snaked out of his fingers, distorting the air around them. They struck the ground Ambrose last stood at—but the latter had already dodged with relative ease.

The others joined the assault, drawing long-range weapons and unleashing their abilities. All of it futile.

’How the mighty have fallen.’ Ambrose withheld the urge to mock them to their faces.

He’d seen enough.

Now it was his turn.

He lunged, tongues of blue flames igniting over his palms. A thunderous clap sent a crescent wave of flames hurtling at the group who’d subconsciously huddled together.

Making this much easier.

"Watch out—!"

"AHH!"

"Bellamy!"

The B-Rank Guide in the group was the first to fall, the flames slamming into his chest with enough force to steal air from his airways.

He skidded through the ground like trash, crashing into a wall at the side.

"Show yourself, coward!" The lightning Esper snarled, firing multiple lightning bolts in different directions.

Ambrose got directly behind him, his figure flickering out of invisibility for just a fraction of a second. Chills gripped the man’s chest—yet he couldn’t react fast enough.

"Argh!"

He struck the Esper on his neck with the handle of his frost dagger, watching with a satisfied smirk as he collapsed like a discarded puppet.

The other two put up a good fight—the Esper with the energy whips managed to burn a bit of skin on his right shoulder—but they all fell eventually.

"P–Please..." the Esper crawled weakly on the floor after being hit with a blast of burning ice.

His organs were fighting to stay stable, his aether pathways malfunctioning from the thermal overload. Ambrose didn’t care about the blood trickling out of the corner of his mouth.

He pressed a foot on his ankle. Hard. The screams were like music to his ears as he lowered himself to the ground.

"... Tell Han," he spoke for the first time, ensuring he made his voice deeper than usual, "this doesn’t end here. I’m coming for him next."

With that, he twisted his foot, snapping the guy’s ankle against the floor. He cried but Ambrose adjusted his hood, waltzing toward the door without looking back.
