Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 153: _Someone Is Going To RegretPhoenix Flight HQ
"Look, daddy, we’re on the news!" Orion pointed at a large TV screen when they walked into the Guild lobby.
Ambrose followed his gaze, his cheeks heating up when he saw the headline:
"S-Rank Hunter’s Car Destroyed in Broad Daylight."
Attached to that were videos and pictures—from when Devon walked out of the flames like some fire god to the little family moment on the academy stairs.
"Look at how messed up my hair is." Ambrose found himself mumbling, subconsciously touching his head as he did.
Then his eyes slid to Devon beside him.
The Esper was still shirtless, his bare skin marred by ash. He couldn’t help but notice a few ladies ogling at him even inside the Guild building.
"You’re worried about your hair?" Devon arched a brow at the Guide as they continued waltzing toward the elevator at the far end.
"That’s just one thing." Ambrose snorted. "As always the media is turning this into another opportunity to dig into your life."
"Isn’t that better than—"
"Which in turn will lead them to begin digging into mine and Orion’s lives," Ambrose lowered his voice, his fingers clenching and unclenching. "This is exactly why I was against Orion going out. But no... ’the world has always been dangerous, Rose’."
"Hasn’t it though?" Devon wasn’t agitated in the slightest. "Before all this, the kid nearly got kidnapped. An Esper literally blew up like a living bomb the other day."
It was at this point that they came into view of the elevator. The doors slid open with a ding, revealing two women walking out. It took a second but Ambrose soon recognised them.
"Oh, Devon." Alisha’s eyes lit up. "Just the man I was looking for. We saw the news. Are you guys okay?"
Alisha and Trina.
Now that he thought about it, he’s been seeing less of the S-Rank and her B-Rank Guide/girlfriend these days. It would’ve been nice to hang out—if his head and life weren’t pure chaos.
"Well, I lost my car," Devon laughed dryly, rubbing the back of his neck. "But at least none of us got hurt. We were just about to head upstairs."
Alisha nodded, her eyes lowering to Orion’s level. She squinted, the same look most people had when they saw the kid beside his parents.
"... Jesus." She muttered. "He... looks like an exact match up of the two of you." Her eyes travelled between both men. "How’s that even poss—"
"It was nice seeing you, Alisha," Ambrose cut her off with a nervous laugh, shoving her gently so they could enter the lift. "We should all catch up sometime... or something."
He didn’t wait for her to answer, dragging Devon and Orion in before clicking the button to his suite’s floor. As the metal doors closed, Alisha and Trina exchanged a glance.
"I thought you saw the boy during the Vatican City trip?" Trina queried.
Alisha blinked. "I mean... yeah, I did. But dude..." she swerved her head to the elevator doors again. "I didn’t bother staring as much as I just did. The resemblance is almost uncanny."
"Maybe Devon had a child he never told you about."
"... I thought he was Ambrose’s son?"
"Isn’t Ambrose gay though?"
"My point exactly!"

While the sapphics argued over paternity, Ambrose’s phone rang when the elevator brought them to his suite’s hallway. He pulled out the phone and sighed when he saw the contact name.
"Viktor, I don’t know if you’ve seen the news but now’s not a good time."
"I know, I know..." the ice Prince sounded equal parts worried and amused. "Is Devon there?"
"What is it, snowman?" Devon grabbed the phone, putting it on speaker phone. "And before you start speaking French... the kid is here with us."
Viktor laughed, muttering something in Russian. "Wasn’t that car one of your favourites? You’ve had it since senior year."
"Not funny, Viktor." Ambrose didn’t even crack a smile. "That explosion could’ve badly hurt either Orion or me if we didn’t react fast enough. Or worse..."
His hand tightened around his son’s little fingers. The mere thought of something so horrendous happening to his boy made his stomach twist.
Viktor’s teasing edge vanished. "It’s obviously targeted. But from who? Do you boys have any suspects?"
"Han Jae-won." The name came out of Ambrose’s mouth naturally. "I’m almost ninety nine percent sure of it."
"What did you ever do to that Guide to make him want to harm you?"
Ambrose cut Devon a look. Neither said anything but that was more than enough.
Every time he closed his eyes, he still saw those flames swallowing the car.
"Whatever it is," Ambrose brought his mouth back to the phone, "I will not let myself become a sitting duck waiting to get slaughtered. Someone is going to regret this and it ain’t gonna be me."
By the time they got to the suite door, Ambrose’s mind was already ticking with a plan. A bold one. But a plan nonetheless.

Once dusk set in Aurelia City, Ambrose crept out of his suite, locking the door before pulling up the hood of his hoodie.
It was already seven PM—Devon went out not too long ago for some insurance inquiries while Orion was already fast asleep in his bedroom.
Each footstep through the empty hallway resounded against the marble floor.
[Are you sure you want to do this?] Aura asked as he walked into an elevator.
’Since the day of my transmigration.’ he responded coldly. ’What I’ve been waiting for is power and a reason strong enough to push me. Now? I have both.’
The doors opened to the Guild’s medical floor. Spatial awareness scanned the place in one smooth sweep—
—There were only a couple of nurses in the infirmary and one doctor picking out medical supplies in another room.
"Uhm, good evening." One of the nurses spun around with a frown when he barged into the infirmary.
But then her eyes glistened when they met his, the original caution in her posture dissipating. Ambrose offered his warmest smile.
"I’m sorry to disturb you ladies this fine evening," he began, hoping to hell that didn’t sound cringe. There was only so much charm aura could do. "I’m just here to ask about the raid team for the B-Rank dungeon. The one Han Jae-won was part of..."
