Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 152: _Like A SuperheroPhoenix Flight HQ
"Is it done?"
"Yes, sir."
Han smirked coldly from a sofa in his suite. He arched his head ceilingward, keeping the phone glued to his ear.
Now this was what he was talking about.
His sister had told him not to hurt Ambrose directly. Not until she was done with her little experiment. But Han had grown... impatient.
Each day that passed with Ambrose Hale safe and sound irked him in his soul. It was no longer about jealousy. He loathed the pathetic C-Rank with everything in him.
"Linger around enough to give me updates on if he survives it," he blurted, spreading his other arm over the backrest of the sofa. "I want to get the first updates before any news station."
The attack was meant for Ambrose—but he wouldn’t even blink if there was any collateral damage in the form of other lives.
’I told you I’d clip your wings.’ he thought to himself with a wolfish grin. ’Even if you somehow survive this... it’s only the beginning...’

"Was anyone hurt?"
"Oh my God—someone call 911!"
"Wasn’t that Hunter Devon’s car?"
These were some of the questions that managed to filter into Ambrose’s ears through the chaotic haze. He was still lying on the academy stairs. His back still ached from crashing on said stairs so hard.
And his arms... they were still wrapped tightly around Orion, not just for his safety—but to keep his attention off the damages.
’... Devon,’ worry gripped him by the neck, constricting his airways until basic breath became difficult. He stared anxiously at the roaring flames and smoke, squinting hard for any signs that the Esper was alive.
Just when he was about to set Orion aside and rush into the fire... a shadowy figure stood upright within it. People gasped as this figure inched out slowly.
Once he was all out—Ambrose let out a shuddering breath of relief.
It was Devon.
Of course, it was.
In what world does an explosion take out an S-Rank fire-type Esper?
"There goes my outfit," Devon grunted, gesturing at his now bare chest.
The flames had disintegrated most of his shirt save for a few rag-like strands sticking for dear life. His pants had been reduced to shorts.
Yet, there wasn’t even a scratch on his naked skin, which only glistened like gold underneath the fire.
"Papa!" Orion yelled out before Ambrose, snapping the latter out of his reverie.
Academy officials ran down the steps, heading for the Hunter as sirens resounded around the scene. There was barely any attention placed on Ambrose.
Again... a bunch of boot lickers.
Before the officials could crowd around Devon too much, he pushed past them, his gaze locked on Ambrose and Orion. "Rose!" He yelled out, running to them.
As he ascended the stairs and squatted to their level, his arms found Ambrose in a comforting embrace. His fingers threaded his silky blonde hair as a sigh broke past his lips.
A few people in the crowd pulled out their phones, taking pictures and videos of the emotional scene. Ambrose didn’t even acknowledge their existence, burying his face in Devon’s neck.
"You moron," Ambrose muttered under his breath. "You had enough time to move out of there."
"I’m more surprised that you noticed something off as fast as you did," Devon pulled him out of his arms, using his thumbs to brush over the Guide’s face. "I–I was so afraid you’d get hurt when the explosion rang."
Orion—squished between them—grabbed Devon’s fingers. "Daddy was super fast! He picked me up like a superhero."
That brought a grin to Devon’s face. He blinked slowly at his permanent Guide’s silver orbs, reaching out fully to grab his face with his ashen palm.
"He really is."
Sadly, their heart-warming moment was cut short by a voice behind them:
"Mr Ferguson!"
The three of them turned back in time to witness the principal rushing down the stairs, her chest rising and falling in anxious breaths.
She shooed students standing outside, beckoning them to head back inside. "Thank goodness you and your family are okay." There was genuine relief in his voice as she got beside them. "W–What happened? I’m hearing something about explosives. Was... was it a bomb?"
Devon parted his mouth but Ambrose had already angled his head to face the woman fully.
"It was a bomb actually." His tone was flat, an icy edge creeping into it. "One planted while we were in your academy. Care to explain how that happened and why your security team couldn’t watch one car?"
The principal was too stunned to speak but he didn’t care, quickly adding:
"I don’t think this academy is safe enough for our boy." He didn’t blink even when her face lost colour. "For starters, it’s too close to the road. And now this? We should sue y’all. If anything had happened to our boy—"
"I’m deeply sorry, s–sir," the woman lowered her head, cheeks reddening with embarrassment when people turned their cameras to her. "This... this could just be an isolated case. We’ve never had any shootings or violence in our academy—"
"Oh, so you’re saying we’re a danger to your academy?" Ambrose ignored Devon’s subtle attempt to calm him. "Well, I’m glad you know now why we’ve kept our boy hidden."
It was at that point that Devon’s eyes narrowed.
Wait a minute...
"I totally understand." The principal nodded, rising to her feet. "I’ll... I’ll be right back. Our security team will review every camera angle immediately."
As she hurried down the steps, joining the academy officials and police officers pulling over—Devon gawked speechlessly at Ambrose.
"You did not just emotionally blackmail that woman into forgetting about Orion’s documentation."
Ambrose shrugged cluelessly. "I don’t know what you’re talking about." For the briefest second, the ghost of a smirk quivered at the corner of his lips.
But he didn’t have the leisure to be proud of himself. His spatial awareness picked up a presence. Across the road... someone stood still.
Watching.
He lifted his head, gaze trailing past the cars and sea of people. Before he could find his target—gone. Like there was no one there seconds ago.
Still, he knew what he sensed and already had possibilities running through his mind.
Someone had tailed them to this school. Waited until they were inside. Then set a bomb. And it wasn’t meant for Devon either.
It was meant for him.
Ambrose’s blood ran cold.
Because if someone could plant a bomb beneath Devon Ferguson’s car in broad daylight... then nowhere around Orion was truly safe anymore.
