Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 301: _Welcome Home"God—no, no, no!" Ambrose wasn’t able to catch Gabriel when he fell, managing to kneel beside his wrecked body instead. "Shit. What the hell was happening out here?"
Gabriel’s black and yellow jacket had been all but completely shredded, the t-shirt underneath looking like it was stitched from rags. His pants were also in a sorry state.
Carefully, Ambrose cradled his upper body off the ground, pushing him gently to his chest. "His... his aether."
[He had a brief burst of berserk energy.]
[WARNING: Target is still unstable and needs urgent Guiding.]
"Oh, my God!" Captain Trinity’s voice snapped through the harrowing silence behind him. "H-Hunter Gabriel? What happened to him?"
Ambrose didn’t answer.
After tricking the Void Entity and Devourer into that portal door, he ended up using the Black Key to open another portal, leading them straight here.
He’d been wondering why the damn thing didn’t drop him off at Aurelia city as usual.
As Trinity lowered herself to his side, blinking frantically at Gabriel’s unconscious form, fresh voices resounded through the snow-covered clearing.
"The Purple Rift is gone!"
"I-Is that Hunter Gabriel?"
"Who’s that holding—wait. Captain Trinity?"
"That’s the captain of the raid mission."
"Look! It’s the rest of the team."
The increasing number of voices was grating on Ambrose’s very last nerves. He swung his head to the right, spatial awareness helping him spot five powerful and familiar energy signatures.
The Pantheon.
Loki and Kali were the first to rush past the barricades, the former’s eyes widening when they landed on Ambrose.
"A-Ambrose?" An equal part relieved and exasperated sound escaped the lord of chaos’ lips. "You’re... you’re back? How did you—"
"There’s no time to explain." Ambrose didn’t know when he lifted Gabriel off the ground in a princess carry. He ignored Trinity’s speechless blinking. "Gabriel needs guiding. Like right now."
Kali stopped in front of him. "We have a Guide flying in—"
"He has no time for whoever that Guide is," he cut, tone almost icy. "Move."
Without waiting for the SSS-Rank to recover from his brashness, he walked past them, not stopping for a second, not even when other Hunters by the barricades yelled at him to drop Gabriel.
There was something about the light in his eyes that made them think twice before directly confronting him.
"Who the hell was that?" An S-Rank turned to his comrade once Ambrose had moved far enough with Gabriel.
The latter shook his head. "I’ve got no idea..."

The notifications blurred past Ambrose’s eyes. He was silent as he rubbed Gabriel’s arm on the bed he lay on.
He’d managed to get him to the nearest hotel. Most nearby cities had been evacuated, but there were fortunately a few Hunters amongst the hotel workers who let them in.
When they saw it was Gabriel, they didn’t even bother charging them, assigning them to one of the more expensive suites.
They’ve been in this room for over an hour now. Gabriel was fortunately out of critical condition... but he’d slipped into a coma. Or at least he’d like to call it a coma.
The man didn’t respond to any of his attempts to wake him up, so Ambrose just gave up.
"I know you were out there doing something crazy." He mumbled, squeezing Gabriel’s arm a little too hard. "It... it would’ve been nice to see you awake at least."
He smiled wryly. "I imagined how y’all would react when I finally returned over and over again," a watery laugh. "Didn’t think you’d be dramatic enough to pass out."
No answer.
Of course.
Ambrose sniffled, burying his face beside the space god’s body. "They were saying you... that you redirected that weird ass Purple Rift." A pause. "I can already guess you and the others knew there was some fucked up monstrosity on the other side. So good call, really."
He blinked multiple times, trying to fight back the annoying wetness creeping behind his eyes. "I’m sorry if I scared y’all. I don’t know if you can hear me."
At that point, he couldn’t take it anymore.
Ambrose pushed away from the bed, using the back of his hand to wipe his eyes and face. As expected, that hand was wet when he pulled it back.
He got up, burying his hands into his pockets. Then he took slow steps toward the balcony, his gaze wandering to the setting sun.
City lights, honking of cars returning gradually in an ever increasing traffic jam and the distant voices of civilians—all of it has never made him feel this at home before now.
Taking a long, deep breath, Ambrose ground his jaw. "I’d have to call Devon and Viktor. But..." He brought out his phone from his pocket.
The screen was badly damaged, glitching when he turned it on.
[Welp. That baby’s been through hell.]
"Surprised it didn’t give up in previous missions." Ambrose snorted, slipping it back into his pocket. "I mean, I could always reach out telepathically."
Ever since he got back to Earth, he could sense Devon and Viktor’s emotions in ways he struggled to while stuck in the desert dimension.
It was both a relief and anxiety fuel.
How the fuck does he disappear for what was a week on Earth and then come back one random Tuesday? Where would he even begin with a conversation?
[Maybe start with ’I missed you guys so much, and I’m alive’? I don’t know, you’re making it sound like you’re reaching out to dictators or something.]
Ambrose was about to tell her to hush when spatial awareness flared. He frowned, head spinning back to the suite’s front door.
A knock sounded on it only five seconds later. And he already knew who it was by the Rank reading Aura showed him. Plus... the literal permanent link pulsing between them.
He crossed the suite in long strides, wearing a smile when he opened the door. "Hi."
Loki held a red box, a small smile creeping up their lips. "Hey." Their eyes flitted briefly to the suite before pinning on Ambrose again. "Chocolate?"
