Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 323: _The Things Worth Protecting"Wait, so I’ve been really curious." Alisha was the first to speak once everyone had settled in a family-friendly bar. The place was packed with people either laughing, drinking or taking pictures.
Colourful lights throbbed from the ceiling, the glass walls offering a perfect view of the festivities still taking place outside.
Ambrose’s group sat at a round table, Viktor handing Orion his phone to play video games while letting him sit on his lap.
Valentine, Gabriel and Loki had gone to grab drinks.
Clearing her throat, Alisha went on, eyes landing on Ambrose first. "How exactly does this whole thing work?" She looked over to Viktor and Devon, who both sat to his left and right. "Like... you’re both his boyfriends. But are you two also each other’s boyfriends?"
The ice Prince’s eyes bulged.
He quickly pulled out headphones from his coat pockets, helping Orion plug them in while Ambrose struggled to keep a straight face.
"Yes and no." He answered simply. "For the most part, Devon and Viktor are only exclusive with me. And that works for all of us."
Trina arched her brow. "For the most part?"
"Well," Viktor’s grin immediately spelt mischief in neon signs, "Devon and I do have a past as you may already know. And there have been instances when... we got too close to each other."
Devon glared daggers at him. "We accidentally kissed one time, and you haven’t let me hear the end of it ever since."
"How the heck do people ’accidentally’ kiss?" Alisha chuckled.
"Oh," Ambrose’s cheeks reddened. "Trust me... you don’t wanna know."
"Pretty sure I do."
Fortunately, before Ambrose could be compelled to answer, spatial awareness picked up footsteps coming toward their table.
"I believe a certain someone asked for a jubilee margarita." Gabriel passed a glass with red liquor to Alisha. Then he turned to Ambrose. "And a rainbow martini for you."
"Stereotypical." Valentine crashed onto a seat beside Viktor, forcing himself between the ice Prince and Trina in the process. "Pardon. Anyway, what are you kids talking about?"
Alisha and Trina exchanged a quick look.
Ambrose keeping Devon and Viktor as his boyfriends was one thing.
Believable, to be honest.
They just couldn’t understand how and why Valentine and Gabriel—two SS-Rank monsters—were with him too. And if they were being honest... they didn’t feel the need to ask.
"Only talking about our unorthodox dynamic." Ambrose did the unexpected, clutching Valentine’s chin and pecking him on the cheek.
Alisha’s eyes bulged. "Oh my God, wait." She set her drink aside, curiosity quickly getting the best of her. "Are you like... open? So you can date Devon and Viktor while being with other men? Or...?"
"Valentine," Ambrose tapped the Necromancer’s face lightly, "is also my partner. And so are Gabriel and... Leon." He pointed at Loki, who had just taken a seat opposite Trina and Alisha.
The lord of chaos winked, taking a sip through a straw with absolutely no worries in the world—ignoring the way Alisha and Trina seemed to be on the verge of a factory reset.
[The one time you decided to be truthful with other people and you chose THIS piece of information?]
’I’m not going to make anyone feel left out or hide some of my partners, Aura.’ Ambrose’s response was final. ’They are what they are to me. And that’s that.’
[Aw. You tell ’em, Queen!]
’... Screw you.’
[Yeah, yeah... It’s been established that’s never happening in any universe. I think the main question right now is: when are you going to tell them the multiverse is basically on a cosmic Doomsday timer?]
Ambrose fell quiet.
Aura waited for an answer that never came.
Instead, his gaze wandered slowly around the table.
Orion sat comfortably on Viktor’s lap, tongue peeking out in concentration as he mashed buttons on the phone, completely unaware of the conversation happening around him.
Devon absentmindedly stole one of the fries from Viktor’s plate, earning himself an offended swat on the wrist.
Gabriel and Valentine had somehow begun arguing over whether a rainbow umbrella sticking out of someone’s cocktail counted as "excessively decorative", while Loki listened with an expression that suggested they were seconds away from making the umbrella sentient just to prove a point.
Then there were Alisha and Trina.
Still trying to process the fact that the man sitting opposite them somehow managed to maintain five different relationships without the world imploding.
A smile tugged at Ambrose’s lips.
’That can still wait.’
Aura surprisingly didn’t argue.
Before either of them could say another word, the lights inside the bar suddenly dimmed.
A spotlight shone over the small stage tucked into one corner of the establishment as a local queer band hurried out amidst loud applause.
The lead vocalist adjusted the microphone before grinning at the crowd.
"Good evening, beautiful people!" She called, earning an even louder cheer. "We’re doing open karaoke all the way until tonight, so if you’ve got a song in your heart or liquid courage in your bloodstream... Come sing with us!"
Laughter erupted throughout the bar.
Without another warning, the opening synths of Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan filled the room.
Trina practically gasped. "No way!"
Before Alisha could grab her wrist, the woman was already halfway to the stage.
"TRINA!"
"I’m living my truth!"
The crowd whooped as she joined the band, already singing the opening lyrics with complete confidence despite being only mildly tipsy.
Ambrose burst into laughter before his attention slowly shifted toward Devon.
The fire-type immediately stiffened. "Hell no."
"Oh, absolutely yes." Ambrose folded his arms. "I’ve heard Chappell Roan on your playlists more times than I can count."
Devon looked betrayed. "You snoop through my playlists?"
"You left Spotify connected to the TV for a week."
Before Devon could escape, Ambrose and Viktor exchanged a look, both pushing the man from each side.
"You traitors—"
The pair practically launched him toward the stage.
The entire table erupted into applause as Devon stumbled forward, groaning dramatically before eventually giving in.
He accepted the spare microphone with an exaggerated sigh, only to start singing anyway, his surprisingly smooth voice blending effortlessly with Trina’s.
Soon the entire bar was joining in.
People danced between tables.
Rainbow flags swayed overhead.
Even Gabriel quietly mouthed the chorus while Valentine pretended not to notice. Loki shamelessly sang along, adding tiny harmless illusory sparkles that burst like rainbow confetti above the crowd. Orion abandoned his game altogether, bouncing excitedly on Viktor’s lap while clapping completely off-beat.
Ambrose simply watched.
Then, in one smooth motion, he lifted his rainbow martini and emptied the entire glass in a single gulp.
Loki lowered their own drink, staring at him in open disbelief. "Eeesh. You just drank that in one gulp?"
Ambrose never took his eyes off the people he loved.
"No matter what, I’m going to work hard," his fingers tightened around the empty glass, "to protect this."
