Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 357: _Beherath Vs The VeyrAt the outskirts of the Veyr tribe, Beherath stalked, boots trudging easily through the snow. His tusks brushed against his lips, steam rolling out of his mouth as he scanned past the fleeing pale blue-skinned people.
One of his master’s mates was here.
Viktor.
Tightening his grip around the shaft of his halberd, he was just about to continue moving when he sensed something.
SLASH.
A figure flashed past him so fast it might as well have been nothing. But it was.
The next second, he felt a faint sting on the back of his neck. He reached there and paused when he felt a warm wetness.
Blood.
’Interesting.’ He thought to himself as every instinct went into full gear.
The blur came at him again—left, to right, then from above him. This time he didn’t leave any room for another hit, parrying the attacks aimed at the parts of his body uncovered by armour.
At one point he saw an opening in his attacker’s movements.
The orc king vanished from sight in a blink, covered under an invisibility cloak. The next second, his massive palm shot sideways, catching someone by the head.
’Got you.’
Saidora gasped, legs kicking into the air as the beast lifted her off the ground.
Beherath’s invisibility cloak slipped off his form, those burning eyes locking on the idiot whose head he was about to squish.
The air thrummed with aether before he could do anything drastic.
He snapped his neck toward the village in time to witness a bolt of lightning zapping right at him. Saidora took advantage of the distraction, managing to slip out of the orc’s grasp.
ZRKKKKKKK!
Beherath lifted an arm, blocking the attack. He didn’t even need to cast any spells, relying merely on his durability.
Magus Roitera kept the lightning attack going, eyes glowing brighter as he poured in more energy.
Other warriors joined Saidora, who’d jumped away from the beast and the ever-increasing light of the lightning attack.
’It appears to possess its own language.’ Roitera thought, his magic scanning the beast’s body. ’If I can just reach into its—what’s this?’
His eyes bulged at the feedback his magic scan gave him. He’d tried looking beyond its body to peer into its soul.
But there was nothing.
There was barely any other will in the beast’s psyche... except one.
The will to serve.
’Necromancy.’ Chills harsher than the surrounding snow swept through the Veyr mage. ’Which means... someone out there is controlling this beast.’
BOOOMMMMM!
The lightning beam had reached its peak, resulting in a powerful explosion that illuminated the sky for miles in a bright whitish blue light.
The barrier separating the village from the outside world trembled. Tons of snow were swept away in an omnidirectional wave, the shockwaves from the blast forcing everyone to either take cover or cover their ears.
Viktor had just gotten the courage to step out of the house they kept him in when he saw the incoming snowstorm. He shut his eyes at the last second, body lowering by just a bit.
"Fuck." His teeth gritted. "That... power. This mage guy should be easily at the pinnacle of S-Rank."
His energy felt far more refined than any S-Rank Esper.
As the snow cleared, Saidora turned to the tribe’s Magus.
"This doesn’t feel like any beast I’ve encountered out there."
Roitera’s throat tightened. "That’s because it isn’t." He said in the Veyr tongue. "This beast... is undead."
Silence swallowed the clearing.
Even the warriors hesitated, their grips tightening around their weapons as they exchanged uneasy glances. The stories surrounding necromancy were old enough to have become little more than legends among the Veyr, yet every child still grew up hearing them.
Saidora slowly turned back toward the clearing snow, body shivering instinctively when a familiar towering figure began walking back into view.
Beherath remained unharmed beneath the fading wisps of smoke from the explosion. The blackened scorch marks across his armour vanished as flesh and steel knitted themselves back together beneath faint traces of death energy, leaving not even the smallest crack behind.
Several warriors instinctively took another step backwards.
"Impossible." One of them whispered.
Viktor stared just as hard.
He almost pitied whatever poor bastard thought fighting Beherath head-on was a good idea.
The orc king finally lowered his halberd. "I have no quarrel... with the Veyr." His voice rolled across the village like distant thunder, deep enough to make the ground around him vibrate.
Naturally, not a single Veyr understood him.
Beherath’s burning eyes settled on Roitera before he gave a low grunt, aether flowing from his body. Strange runes briefly shimmered around his tusks before fading just as quickly.
When he spoke again, the words that came out were no longer in the orc tongue.
They were flawless Veyr.
"I have come for the human."
Every face froze. Even Roitera’s usually composed expression cracked.
"You speak our tongue?" The old mage asked.
"I speak what my master requires."
Saidora narrowed her emerald eyes. "Your master sent you into our homeland simply to retrieve one man?"
"Yes." The answer came without hesitation. "He means no harm to your people. My master’s only concern... is his companion."
Beherath’s gaze shifted toward Viktor.
"You do not want my master coming here himself."
There wasn’t even a hint of menace in his voice. It sounded like simple advice.
Roitera, however, felt the warning settle heavily in his chest.
The undead before him possessed strength capable of enduring one of his strongest spells without injury. If this creature served another... what kind of being commanded it?
He slowly lowered his staff. "Release the mana blocker."
Several warriors turned toward him in disbelief.
"Magus—"
"I said release it."
Viktor let out a breath he hadn’t realised he’d been holding.
Just as one of the warriors stepped forward to unlock the restraint around his ankle—
BOOM.
The entire barrier surrounding the village shuddered violently. Another impact followed almost immediately.
BOOM.
Every Veyr turned toward the shimmering wall protecting their settlement.
Beyond it... several gigantic silhouettes emerged through the swirling snow, their collective auras strong enough to make many step back with pure terror.
Viktor’s stomach dropped. "...You’ve got to be kidding me."
