Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 364: _The Pantheon’s Proposal"Enough with the circling, Loki," Kali said once they’d both arrived before the compound gates. "Just tell me... was Ambrose Hale in Washington’s S-Rank dungeon?"
The Lord of Chaos touched their lush brown hair, avoiding looking her in the eyes. "You gotta be more specific."
"I’ve been plenty specific for the past hour."
"You have?"
"Yes."
"Hm. I guess you’ve got to try harder." They pushed the pedestrian gate open, stepping in with a boldness that made the other SSS-Rank squint.
Even after two months, she still didn’t quite get the dynamic between the Guide and the five powerful Espers in his life. Especially Loki.
They may keep their private life secret, but she knew enough to be stunned at them suddenly placing so much trust in one man.
With a light breath, Kali walked in too, looking back at the quiet neighbourhood behind them. They’d both just shut the gate behind them when the front door opened.
Valentine stepped out first, equally confident and menacing as he strode down the porch with his hands tugged into his coat pockets.
Ambrose trailed behind him, the only clothing he had on being a pair of black pants.
Kali blinked.
She was expecting way more clothing—her gaze lingered briefly on his muscles. Not just because he looked ’hot’. Those arms and chest were unmistakably sculpted from dozens of high-tension dungeon missions.
His lack of any permanent scars also managed to make her arch an impressed brow.
"Hunter Kali." Ambrose smiled before he and Valentine even got to them. "Good morning. Wasn’t expecting a visit from the Pantheon... so early."
The time goddess cleared her throat. "It’s been a minute, Ambrose. You seem well."
"Thank you. I hope there aren’t any issues?"
Ever since he revealed the existence of the system and his infinite link skill, he’s been extra guarded when it came to the Pantheon.
Sure, they now all had the eventual coming of the Archons to worry about. But there was still one more secret outside his he wasn’t willing to reveal.
Orion.
Yes, future Ambrose did advise him to keep them close as allies. But what happens if they found out one six-year-old had almost led to the end of the world?
Every Hunter Federation and the International Hunters Council had given up on investigating the cause of the zombie apocalypse from months back. They didn’t outright give a statement, but he could tell.
They’d only be ramming into a dead end over and over again.
Yet he knew the moment word slipped that one kid was behind so much destabilisation... the consequences would be far too annoying.
"Well, depending on your definition of ’issues’." Kali clamped her hands together. "I’ve been thinking. Myself and the rest of the Pantheon. If we’re truly soon to face threats to the entire universe... that can’t be something we do on our own."
Ambrose’s brows furrowed.
Oh?
"Are you suggesting," he folded his arms across his chest, "informing the Federations?"
Kali nodded. "They deserve to know. At least to prepare."
"I’m surprised you guys didn’t tell them yet."
Kali’s expression turned thoughtful.
"We wanted certainty first," she admitted, exhaling slowly. "But after all that has happened in the past two months and after hearing the Hunters’ reports from this new Snow Dungeon..." Her violet eyes sharpened. "I’m beginning to think we’ve been looking at this problem far too narrowly."
Ambrose remained silent, allowing her to continue.
"The elves. The Veyr." Kali spoke each name carefully. "They’re intelligent civilisations. Entire peoples. Entire histories. Earth isn’t the only world experiencing these abnormalities."
Ambrose nodded once. "No."
Kali blinked. "You’ve already reached that conclusion?"
"I reached it a while ago." His voice remained even. "Though I’d take it one step further." He met her gaze without flinching. "This isn’t just affecting one universe."
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
"The multiverse. It’s very much real." Ambrose corrected quietly. "If your vision and what I know are accurate, reality itself is under pressure. Different worlds aren’t isolated incidents anymore. They’re symptoms of something much bigger."
For a brief moment, even Kali looked unsettled. "The multiverse." She tasted the word before slowly nodding. "That... actually explains a lot."
"So what’s your proposal?"
The Time Goddess clasped her hands behind her back.
"We need to stop treating every Rift like an infestation that needs exterminating." She glanced toward the neighbourhood beyond the compound walls. "Instead, we should start treating some of them as bridges."
Valentine’s eyebrow rose. "Bridges?"
"To allies." Kali clarified. "If intelligent civilisations exist beyond Earth, then they’re almost certainly fighting the same battle we’re fighting. Maybe not the same enemies, but the same collapse." She paused. "What if we establish communication instead of immediately clearing every Rift we find?"
Ambrose studied her carefully. "And what makes you think they’d help us?"
"Because they wouldn’t just be helping Earth." Kali’s tone grew firmer. "They’d be helping themselves as well."
Silence settled between them.
"If the Archons are limited in number," she continued, "then dividing our strength world by world only guarantees defeat. But if countless civilisations begin sharing knowledge, resources, strategies... perhaps even armies..." A faint smile crossed her face. "Then we’d be fighting together instead of alone."
Ambrose’s fingers drummed lightly against his arm. It was... surprisingly logical.
Dangerously optimistic.
But logical.
"So," he finally said, "where exactly do I fit into all this?"
Kali looked almost amused. "A worldwide summit is being organised as we speak."
Loki stopped pretending not to listen. "Wait, I didn’t know about this. Is it the Hunter Federations?"
"The International Hunters Council. Federation Presidents. Guild Masters. Every confirmed SS-Rank and above is expected to attend." Her gaze lingered on Ambrose. "Officially, you’re still just a C-Rank Guide."
"Officially."
"But unofficially..." She smiled knowingly. "I have a feeling you’re hiding something much larger than even an S-Rank."
Ambrose returned the smile without confirming or denying anything. "I have no intention of revealing myself."
"Why?"
"Because the moment people start looking at me instead of the problem," his smile faded, "we’ve already lost focus. I’ll have too much attention on my back."
Kali considered that answer for several seconds before giving a small nod.
"I can’t say I agree." She flicked her wrist, producing a sleek black invitation card embossed with the Hunter Council’s insignia. "But if you change your mind... My invitation stands."
She extended it toward him.
"You don’t have to attend as Ambrose Hale." Her eyes gleamed with quiet certainty. "But I think the world is about to need whoever you really are."
