I’m not usually possessive but each time we spend time together I could feel myself being the only one. She claims this Evan is willing to wait until after her contract was over but I was sure this was his excuse to fuck whoever he wanted. How could you love someone like that?

She needed a man to put his foot down and show her that she meant the world to him. He should shower her with love and move heaven and earth to make her happy. This Evan doesn’t love her. He’s in love with a idea of a fantasy girl. Even if he actually love her would he be willing to marry her? She should have been asking him that question.

The opportunity of getting to know her more on an intellectual level was now gone. When I looked in her eyes she was determined to make it work with him.

The question still remained would he move heaven and earth to give her what she wanted and needed?

My phone buzzed taking me out my daydream. I looked down to see Garrett calling. I let it go to voicemail because I just couldn’t deal with him right now. I was still pissed about what he said about her. He was more upset that she chose me and not him. Well you know what, I didn’t give a fuck. He had called a few times but I wasn’t interested or in the mood.

I looked down and he texted to see if I wanted to go out to The Penthouse, a club we frequently visited every now and again but I was still pissed about our confrontation. Another sharing opportunity. No thanks.

I walked in the kitchen grabbed a beer and replayed more of the conversation with Cadence. An idea popped in my head and I got to work. I called in a few favors and my partner in crime, Christopher Walker. I spent hours working on this idea and it just had to work. I put on my shoes and grabbed my keys and headed back to the office.

"Chris did you do what I asked?" Chris looked exhausted but that’s why I paid him so well. It was now Thursday morning and we had been working on this final part of this project since last night.

"Yes sir! Got the papers right here." I looked over them and couldn’t help but smile.

Chris was my future protege in the making. He was bright and in the next few years I could see him running all my international listings. Being in real estate wasn’t an easy job. Deals being made on a daily basis could make one love it or hate it.

"Dr. Thompson and his partners had their attorney review the paperwork you sent over last night and they are going to rent the first and second floors," Chris said excitedly.

I had bought a building across the street from the hospital to turn into a medical complex a few months ago to help out the hospital. The building was fully occupied now and renovations would begin in a couple of weeks.

"I also got some more good news. We have a potential buyer for the Westclover house in Atlanta. The guy is only off by a quarter and I think you could probably persuade him to go up. He wants to meet Sunday afternoon so you will need to fly out on Saturday night."

"Chris are you serious? Please tell me he is pre-qualified because I don’t have time to waste. There have been four other offers and they have all fallen through." The Westclover house asking price was around seven million and with the economy being the way it is some banks weren’t financing deals worth that much.

"Before you even ask, he wants to pay cash and we have verified the funds. He has already given us a good faith check," Chris said.

I was surprised. This had peeked my attention.

"Jacob I got a good feeling about this. He is ready but he wants his girlfriend to see it. She flys in tomorrow and he wants you to meet them Sunday morning before she leaves."

I looked at Chris. I really wasn’t in the mood but I needed to get the house sold.

"Fine make the reservations. Make the appointment for as early in the afternoon as possible so I can get back."

"Okay, I will get right on it!" Chris walked out my office ecstatic. I only wish I could be so lucky.

Friday

Cadence POV

It was Friday morning and my phone rang. I was only working at the hospital until lunchtime since it was my last day and I was to met Emily and the girls at the private airstrip.

I looked down to see Evan calling. I had three missed calls from him last night because my ringer was off and I didn’t feel well.

"Hey, sorry I missed your calls. I have been busy finishing my work since today is my last day and I think I ate something that didn’t agree with me yesterday." I said walking down the hall.

"I can imagine. You are a busy little bee. Are you feeling okay?"

"I’m feeling a lot better since I’m talking to you."

"You probably need to slow down and it’s time for a vacation. I think this trip is perfect timing."

I laughed.

"I just wanted to make sure you got the flight schedule and to tell you that I won’t be able to pick you up at the airport. The judge is making a custody decision on Monday and my attorney wants to meet with me today. The driver will take you to the house and I will meet you all there. I’m sorry baby."

"Maybe we shouldn’t come. You need to be focus on Kara and having us around may not be a good idea."

"Nonsense. You are my good luck charm plus I haven’t seen you in over a month and I can’t wait to hold you.

"Are you sure?"

"Cad if I didn’t want you here I wouldn’t have invited you. Plus I have a surprise for your sisters."

"Are you going to tell me?"

"Nope, I don’t want you to slip and tell them and I have a surprise for you too."

"Awe come on you can you at least give me a hint."

"Not a chance baby girl."

"Okay. Be safe until I get there," I said smiling.

"I will. I can’t wait to see you Cad."

"I can’t wait to see you either. I will see you in a few hours." We hung up and I couldn’t help but smile. Maybe I was making the right decision.

I turned and ran right into a huge chest. Bam! I rubbed my nose.
