Cadence POV

Before the car came to a stop, I was out of it. This was the night that I knew would happen sooner than later. I was busted by a person I didn’t even know.

"Cadence wait," I heard Evan say. I walked quickly through the hotel lobby trying to catch the elevator. As soon as I got there it closed.

"Shit," I said more to myself as I pressed the buttons willing the elevator to come.

I felt strong arms behind me. "Don’t leave me," he said kissing me on top of my head. The elevator beeped and I got in.

"Go away Evan. Our time is up."

"Please, let’s just talk about this," he said.

"There is nothing to talk about. It was good while it lasted." I pressed the elevator button to the third floor.

"Just give me five minutes. That’s all I’m asking." I looked at him and rolled my eyes. I was totally done with this situation. I was here to attend a conference not to play girlfriend.

The elevator opened on my floor. I walked out with Evan right on my heels. I got to my room and said, "five minutes and then you leave!"

I sat on the sofa and took my shoes off.

"Talk Evan, I don’t have all night!"

"My parents already knew but my siblings and their spouses did not."

"You are fucking kidding me, right. That’s why you told me to tell the truth because they already knew."

"Yes. But what I said to you earlier I meant it. I have fallen in love with you Cad," he took my hand in his.

"I’m so sorry baby girl. I didn’t even know she was coming."

"Evan, how did she know?"

"I wish I could answer that but I will find out. Come here." He pulled me to his lap.

I leaned into his touch. "It doesn’t matter what other people think about us. It’s me and you," he said. I leaned my head against the crook of his neck.

"Evan I have the ball on Saturday. I’m the Mistress of Ceremonies. Lilly won’t be there."

I felt him stiffen.

"I still have a job. I sleep with men. I will do my job until my contract is fulfill. I know this is a lot to ask, but I am still going to sleep with other men." I wanted to be honest.

"Let me talk to Lilly," he said.

"No, you don’t need to talk to her because I am what I am and you will either accept it or not."

"You don’t have to live this way. I can give you whatever you need."

"I don’t want a sugar daddy. I don’t need a man to take care of me. I will not be a kept woman." I lean up to him and placed my hands on his cheeks.

"I care for you. I really do Evan and I have strong feelings for you but you have to give me time. I have never had a man to tell me he love me. I don’t ever remember my daddy saying it. Bear with me," I said kissing him on the lips.

"This is not how I thought my birthday would turn out," he said taking a deep breath.

I looked up at the clock and it was ten pm. It was still early.

"You still have two hours until midnight before the day is over and the conference doesn’t start to lunchtime tomorrow so maybe we could," I wiggled my eyebrows and nodded to the bedroom. I saw that smile on his face. Why not? The damage had been done.

"I noticed that you didn’t get a chance to eat your birthday cake so, why don’t you order some and have them bring it up," I said winking.

Evan POV

I woke up the next morning next to Cadence. It had been a wild night celebrating my birthday. I was falling deeper and deeper every time we spent time together. It just wasn’t the sex it was her. She had like this Ora about her that just pulled you in.

I had confessed my love to her and I meant every word. I know she had deep feelings for me but I would wait.

Last night had been absolutely cray. Shit was about to hit the fan and I didn’t want her anywhere near it. I picked up the phone to call Brian.

"Hi boss," he said sounding tired.

"I want you in the office by ten and I want you to bring Yaz."

"How would I know where Yaz is?"

"Because you are fucking her and I know."

The phone line got quiet.

"Both of you in my office by ten am sharp because if you aren’t there, there will be fire and brimstone." I hung up and ran my hand over my face. I looked back to see Cad staring at me.

"I’m sticky," she said stretching her arms out. "I’m going to take a shower, coming?" She said getting out the bed as the sheets revealed her naked body. My boner rose to the occasion.

She was soft as silk as her walls caressed me. The hot water, her passionate kisses and the feel of her body was making me dizzy. I was going to miss this.

I felt her walls tighten as her release shook through her body and I wasn’t too far behind her. We quickly showered and headed out for breakfast. We ate at the hotel’s restaurant. We didn’t talk about last night but the festival coming up next month. I dropped her off at the conference and headed to the office.

I was happy because she agreed to have dinner with me later on. She was leaving the day after tomorrow and I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible.

When I got to the office I headed upstairs. I saw Rachel sitting at the front desk.

"Brian will be meeting with me at ten, please buzz him in." She nodded and I headed to my office.
