Naturally there were guards at the entrances of this city, but that didn’t matter at all.
With the abilities that I possessed, it was easy for me to make it past these guards.
Though even if I didn’t use them, it wasn’t as if the guards would have bothered to stop me.
I could see that these guards were the same as the ones that guarded the farms, they only cared about things that they recognized. If there was something that they didn’t recognize, they would just ignore it.
In a way, that really disqualified them from acting as guards. But here they were acting as guards to this city.
Once I was inside the city, I looked at the inside of the city with a very strange look.
After all, this city wasn’t really a city even though it looked like it from afar.
There weren’t any actual buildings that were in these streets, they were nothing more than storage warehouses. The animals that arrived in this place all went into the storage warehouses and pressed up against pillars that were inside of these warehouses.
With the way that they pressed up against the pillars, it didn’t seem like they were doing anything other than hugging it. But one could tell that this wasn’t the case since they were holding it in a way that made it seem like they would die if they let go.
So anyone could figure out that there had to be some kind of connection between the animal and the pillar. It seemed like there was some kind of invisible energy that was being transferred between the two.
As for where the pillars redirected that energy, I had no idea at all.
After all, this was a form of energy that I couldn’t sense at all which meant that I just simply couldn’t follow it no matter how much I wanted to.
The only thing that I could guess was that it was being channeled into the ground to be brought to another place.
Once they had finished transferring the energy, the animals that had been hugging the pillars quickly let go and went off once more. They didn’t even bother resting for a single second as they flew off.
It was clear that they were already getting back to work to bring even more of the energy back.
It wasn’t just a single building that was dedicated to this.
All of the buildings that were here were all filled with pillars like this for the animal workers that came into the city to grab onto. It was as if this entire block had been designed as a place just for gathering energy like this.
With the way that it was designed, it even seemed like efficiency was the most important thing considered when building this place. It seemed like they just wanted to gather as much energy from the animals as possible.
"They don’t sleep or eat, they don’t even rest for a moment...This kind of brainless worker really is useful, but there are limitations to what it can do..."
After watching the animal workers go at it like this for a bit, I turned to look at the large structure that was in front of me.
I had already seen this structure from afar and knew what it was for, it was just that I didn’t think that the divide was that deep.
Inside of this city, there was another wall that segmented the very inner part of the city from the rest of the city. It was clear that this was some kind of isolated spot for those that controlled the parasites that moved the plants and animals.
If I had to guess, that was also where the energy that had been gathered was being channeled.
Though I did have to wonder just how much energy they needed and why they needed all of this energy. It really felt like a waste with the way that they gathered everything together like this.
After all, this was most likely an amount of energy that couldn’t be used by a single person effectively.
I had seen all of the different farms that had been scattered around, so I had a good idea of just how much energy was gathered.
"Now, will it be the same as the rock creatures?" There was even a trace of bitterness that filled me as I thought this,
I hoped that it wouldn’t be a similar case, but it really seemed like it would.
When I came up to the walls, I found that there were more guards that were placed here. This time, it didn’t seem like they had been placed here just for show, but rather they were actually guarding against intruders.
In fact, the guards that were here were even bigger than any of the other animals that I had seen before.
It was just too bad that they couldn’t see me.
Just like how I couldn’t see their form of energy, they weren’t able to see mine either.
Which meant that mana was very effective against them, they just couldn’t see through my illusion spell at all.
"Is this because each world has its own power system and they don’t overlap?"
Ignoring this thought, I just waited for a bit to see if the gates would open on their own.
It wasn’t as if I couldn’t just go over the wall, I just wanted to see if there was anything that would come out. It would give me information that I sorely lacked at this moment.
In the end, it turned out that this was the right decision.
Not long after I arrived near the wall, the gates opened and there was this bipedal creature that came out. This was the first bipedal creature that I had seen since entering this room and it was clear by the way that the animals acted that this was part of the group that controlled them.
Though when seeing its head, I couldn’t help muttering, "Is that poop?"
