Chapter 316: Meeting Vaelstrum Clan’s Ancestor

Inside the hall, the Vaelstrum Patriarch had been seated at the head of the table as he listened to the twelve elders of the inner council argue in circles about the recent affairs regarding the Celestial Elixir Pavilion.

Just as the heated discussion was reaching its peak—

"PATRIARCH! ELDERS! GRANDMASTER KORRYN HAS COME! GRANDMASTER KORRYN IS HERE!"

The captain’s voice rang through the hall like a thunderclap.

All eyes immediately turned to him.

"What did you say?" Draven questioned in disbelief, "Grandmaster Korryn? The backer of the Celestial Elixir Pavilion is at our gates?"

"Yes!" the captain nodded frantically. "And he is not alone! Manager Vulcan is with him, along with Lady Elara of the Thunderwood Family! But that is not all... they brought an army of fourteen Domain Masters with them!"

Fourteen Domain Masters!

The elders sucked in sharp breaths of cold air.

"Why is he here?" an elder asked in confusion.

But sitting at the head of the table, the Vaelstrum Patriarch suddenly stood up.

*Everyone, on your feet!" the Patriarch commanded urgently. "We are going to the gates to welcome Grandmaster Korryn. I will personally go to receive him!"

Without wasting another second, the Vaelstrum Patriarch practically sprinted down the central aisle of the grand hall.

First Elder Draven and the dozen Domain Master elders hurriedly swallowed their shock, falling into a swift, disciplined formation behind their leader.

-------------------

Outside the colossal silver gates of the Vaelstrum estate.

Rhain stood with his hands clasped casually behind his back.

The elite Vaelstrum guards stationed at the entrance didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly.

Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps came.

The colossal silver gates were pulled wide open.

A sweeping tide of powerful auras rushed forward.

Patriarch Vaelstrum, leading the entire inner council of his clan, marched out onto the plaza.

His eyes instantly locked onto the figure standing at the forefront.

It was a dignified, middle-aged man radiating a scholarly aura.

Flanking him was the towering, muscular frame of Manager Vulcan, the mercantile genius Elara Thunderwood, and entourage of fourteen true Domain Masters.

Without a single shred of hesitation, the Vaelstrum Patriarch took a quick step forward, entirely discarding his usual arrogant demeanor.

He cupped his fists respectfully in a manner of greetings that left the elite guards stupified.

"Grandmaster Korryn," Vaelstrum Patriarch greeted, his voice ringing with utmost respect and sincerity. "My Vaelstrum Clan is deeply honored by your presence."

First Elder Draven and the other dozen Domain Masters immediately followed suit, bowing behind their Patriarch.

"We greet the Grandmaster!"

Not just the guards, even Elara, Vulcan, and the fourteen domain masters behind Rhain were surprised by this grand gesture.

But unlike others, Rhain looked at the bowing titans of the Vaelstrum Clan without any ripple in his eyes.

"There is no need for such courtesy, Patriarch," Rhain said. "I have come as a guest. Shall we speak inside?"

"Of course! Of course!" the Patriarch straightened instantly, gesturing toward the golden doors with both hands. "Please, Grandmaster. This way. Elders, escort our guests!"

-----------------

Welcomed as revered guests, the Celestial Elixir Pavilion delegation was escorted with the highest honors straight into the clan’s inner sanctum.

Attendants who had never in their lives been permitted past the second courtyard were pressed into service.

The fourteen Domain Masters were seated in the positions traditionally reserved for the inner council, and the inner council itself was quietly reshuffled to the outer rows without a single elder daring to voice an objection.

Once everyone was seated in the luxurious hall, the premium spiritual tea hoarded for centuries and reserved exclusively for any special occasion was served to all of them.

Rhain was seated directly at the Patriarch’s right hand.

Once the tea had been poured, the Patriarch addressed the matter that had been discussed prior in the hall.

"Grandmaster," the Patriarch began, his tone respectful. "We are fully aware of the storm currently raging across the Solathane Dynasty regarding your Pavilion."

He paused, a calculating glint flashing in his deep eyes.

"However, please know that the Vaelstrum Clan is not a gathering of fools. We have ruled our territory for thousands of years. We can easily see through the Royal Court’s political smear campaign. We know perfectly well that these rumors are completely fabricated lies, orchestrated by the Imperial Family simply to suppress an uncontrollable, rising power."

Rhain took a slow sip of his tea, his expression remaining perfectly placid.

"Your discernment is commendable, Patriarch," Rhain remarked.

"We were deeply surprised by your recent public missive, however," First Elder Draven interjected, unable to hide his awe. "To directly challenge Alchemy Emperor Marcellis to a life-and-death refinement duel, while granting him the advantage of choosing the herbs and the pill... It is an unprecedented move that caught us all completely off guard."

Rhain gently set his teacup down on the table.

"When facing sheer arrogance, backing down is not an option," Rhain stated, his body radiating an overlord-like dominance. "It would shatter the dignity of the Celestial Elixir Pavilion. I refuse to let anyone, not even the Royal Court of the Solathane Dynasty, step on my pride."

Vaelstrum elders exchanged stunned glances.

This man truly did not put the Royal Family in his eyes!

Seamlessly transitioning the conversation, Rhain gestured gracefully toward the beautiful, blue-eyed girl sitting near him.

"But I did not come here today to discuss the Royal Court," Rhain said. "Lady Elara Thunderwood is a highly valued partner of my Pavilion. She possesses exceptional foresight and unmatched mercantile loyalty. Recently, she pleaded with me regarding the dire predicament your Vaelstrum Clan is facing, specifically the decaying condition of your Ancestor."

Rhain looked directly at the Patriarch. "Because of Lady Elara’s earnest request, I decided to make a personal visit. I wish to examine your dying Monarch and see if my alchemical expertise can reverse the inevitable."

Vaelstrum Patriarch was overwhelmed by profound gratitude. He looked at Elara, realizing that this young mercantile genius of the Thunderwood Family had indeed paved the way for their salvation.

She had actually convinced the legendary Grandmaster to personally treat their Ancestor!

"Lady Elara, my clan owes you a great debt," the Patriarch said sincerely.

Elara just replied with a polite smile, "The Patriarch overstates my role. I merely requested to Grandmaster Korryn. It was his own decision to come and help."

Vaelstrum Patriarch turned to look at Rhain.

"Grandmaster... we are forever in your debt!" he spoke sincerely. "Please, give me just a brief moment!"

He quickly excused himself from the hall.

Less than five minutes later, he returned, carefully supporting an elderly figure.

The moment the Ancestor stepped into the hall, an innate, oppressive pressure filled the room—the aura of a Monarch Realm powerhouse.

Yet, his physical appearance was entirely contrary to his aura.

Ancestor looked incredibly skinny, his skin pale and withered, and his loose robes clinging to a frail, decaying body.

As the Monarch’s ancient, profound gaze swept across the room, Rhain held his breath for a split second.

He didn’t know whether the technique that he had acquired so painstinkigly could really blind the eyes of an old Monarch.

’Will the disguise hold?’ Rhain thought inwardly, a rare trace of doubt appearing in his mind.
