Chapter 12. Raging Knight

Rosa Lin’s POV

Of all the rotten, awful timing in the world, I rolled my eyes and scoffed before turning in the opposite direction, intent on escaping the bastard who was approaching me. The murmurs around us increased; I could feel everybody’s eyes on me.

"Rosa, hey! Hey! Hey!" I heard him call behind me, followed by the tapping of his footsteps against the ground to catch up with me. Before I could break into a run, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back, pinning me against the cafeteria wall. I gasped, feeling the sharp impact against my back, and knitted my brows together at him.

"What is your problem?" I snapped.

He chuckled and shook his head, gazing down at me, using his strong hands to pin both of my wrists on either side of my head, keeping me bound to the wall.

"Well, look who suddenly grew up over the past month," he said, his eyes moving over my face before dropping toward my lips. "You have actually gotten a little bit pretty."

I saw the hunger in his eyes, and it irritated me. That is just how he had always been: always chasing women for sport. I couldn’t believe I was stupid enough to fall for this once. What had I gotten myself into?

"Let me go, Mac," I said.

He frowned, leaning in closer. "If I don’t, what are you going to do about it?"

I closed my eyes and ground my teeth together. Of course. He never expected a ’no’ from anybody. That was just how he was—entitled, spoiled by parents who weren’t wise enough to see the dark side of the person they called their son. I didn’t even have time to think about his family anymore. They were supposed to be in my past. He was supposed to be my past.

I saw the moment he leaned closer, bringing his face near mine. Is he stupid? Everybody is watching. I could hear the snickers; His friends were laughing off to the side.

I felt my head blaze. The temper that surged through me was powerful, like molten magma. I glared up at him, lifted my knee, and struck it against his thigh, forcing him to jerk backward. As he groaned and bent his head forward, letting go of my right hand, I cursed under my breath. Goodness me, I thought to myself, I didn’t target it well. I wish I had hit him where the sun doesn’t shine.

He glared back at me, his bloodshot eyes filled with pain. He lunged forward, grabbing my wrist again and slamming it back against the wall. I felt a jolting pain in my bone as my face grimaced.

"Can you please stop?" I whimpered.

He held me tight against the wall, leaning so close his breath hit my skin. I tilted my head to the side, struggling.

"Look at you. Just give it up!" he whispered against my face. "Stop being so feisty."

It was at this point that I realized I had already evoked his temper.

"Since when do you have the guts to hit me?" he asked, lifting his hand to grab my jaw and forcing my head back toward him.

A murmurs was building around us. I hated this. This was public humiliation. He was treating me like I was nothing in front of everyone, and they were all watching. I tried my best, struggling to free myself, but his grip was like iron.

"Stay in one place, slut," he said, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear.

I heard the gasps and whispers around us.

"Look at her, shameless, willingly giving herself to him."

What is wrong with these people? I thought to myself. Can’t they see I am being held against my own will?

My temper climbed. I struggled even harder, but he didn’t let me go. He pressed himself against me. I tilted my head away and felt him brush his nose against my neck.

"Damn! You even smell so good! When the hell did you get this hot? Did you dress this sexy to impress me? You’ve never dressed this nice before!" he whispered against my ear.

I lifted my leg again, but his hand was fast enough to catch it.

"It can’t work a second time on me," he said, and I felt his teeth clamp against my earlobe.

What is he doing? I tried to free my hand, but it was impossible.

"Corporate little girl!" he whispered against my ear. "Everyone is watching. You don’t want them to think you’re giving in to me, do you?"

I felt his hand slide across my back, going toward my hips. What the fuck?

I took advantage of my freed hand and tried to push against his chest, but he grabbed it and slammed it back against the wall, keeping me pinned. The pain that shot up my wrist made me shiver, and I ground my teeth together in agony.

"Relax, baby girl. This is going to be a very interesting afternoon, don’t you think?"

I heard the clicking of phone cameras around us.

"Oh my God, she’s doing it again."

"This is so going to be useful for my blog."

"This is crazy, isn’t she so shameless? She’s not even fighting."

I ground my teeth together, feeling my vision get blurry. I hated this. God, I hated this so much.

"I can see you took your time to take care of yourself very well. I actually cannot resist your beauty right now," he continued, his voice dripping with condescension. "You look so good. Look at those perfectly ripe boobs," he whispered against my ear.

I scrunched up my face with disgust.

"If you were looking this hot back then, maybe I wouldn’t have had to do what I did," he said. "You wouldn’t have had to be humiliated. Maybe I would have accepted your love, made you feel cherished, but alas, you grew up a little bit too late. But it’s not too late to continue from where we stopped, right?"

Oh, good Lord, please lend me a very hard brick. Let it manifest in my hand right now. He needs to die.

I wiggled desperately in his grasp.

"Hold on, baby girl," he said. "You don’t need to fight this. Let’s put on a show for them. Let them know what kind of a filthy slut you are. Let them know how much you were begging for my dick last semester."

I couldn’t take it anymore. I began to shake my body as vigorously as I could to upset his balance, to make him lose his hold on me, but he was stubborn.

"Why are you fighting?" he whispered.

I heard the clicking of cameras all around me.

"Oh my God! It’s happening! She’s going to do it again!" somebody said.

I shook. My eyes blinked rapidly, tears pricking at the corners. I tried my best to blink them away. You cannot cry in front of him right now, I told myself.

I struggled and freed my left hand, bringing it around to slap him hard across the face. The sound echoed in the space, and everybody froze.

"Oh my God! Did she just slap Mac Lee?" someone gasped.

Mac tilted his head to the side. I saw his jaw working as he tried to control his temper. Then he scoffed and turned back to me.

"Really?" he asked. "I actually like it. If you had been like this back then, maybe we wouldn’t have had to fight. I love my women feisty."

In the next second, he brought his hand down, grabbed my waist, and spun me around, pressing my chest against the wall. He grabbed both of my hands and trapped them above my head, pinning them so I couldn’t move.

"Well, goddamn. Oh my God, she is such a slut," I heard someone say to the side.

My lips trembled. I tried to free myself, but I felt his hand come down hard against my ass—a sharp smack echoing through the hallway. Everyone gasped. I jerked and gasped at the impact.

My face flushed. I felt a burning heat spread all over my body; I couldn’t bear it anymore. My teeth ached. I clenched them tightly together, shaking in his arms. He pressed me harder against the wall, his hand sliding over my hips, pressing me back against him. I groaned with irritation and sheer hatred.

"Relax, baby girl," he breathed down against my ear.

I heard the jeers surrounding me.

"Oh my God, isn’t this so interesting!"

His friends surrounded us, too. The clicking of cameras were endless as they took countless pictures.

"This is going to be a very good image for the board! This is so crazy! I never knew you were right about her this much, Mac! Look at her giving herself to you so disgustingly! She even likes it!"

Tears slipped out of my eyes. Mac chuckled, his hands sliding against my stomach, moving up toward my shoulders.

"Let’s see what they think about us repeating what we did last time," he said, reaching to slide his hand through the top of my shirt.

I folded my shoulders and twisted to the side, trying my best not to give him an opening.

"Look at her shaking. Oh my God, is she suddenly acting shy now?" one of his friends mocked.

"Enough!"

A sharp, powerful masculine voice thundered through the open air. Absolute silence dropped. I don’t know what it was, but I felt it before I could see it. The faint breeze rustling through the courtyard trees seemed to freeze. The chirping of birds instantly vanished. All I could hear was total silence, as if everybody had disappeared and I was standing in a void.

Mark, who had been holding me, instantly let go. The whispers died down completely. I quickly turned around, hugging myself with my back pressed against the wall. Turning to face Mac, I raised my hand and slapped him as hard as I could across the face, forcing his head to snap to the side. He glared at me and took a step forward.

"Don’t you dare!"

That deep voice echoed again—rough, deep, and filled with a piercing rage that promised darkness. Mac froze.

We all turned, and I saw Mr. Don Diaxu walking over to us. Gone was the cheerful face he wore back at the villa. He was a totally different person. I found myself shuddering at the coldness in his brown eyes as he came closer, glaring daggers at Mac. The air around him was choking; I could barely breathe.

"Do you care to explain what the hell that was?" he asked calmly, his voice laced with a deadly dread as he stared Mac down.

"Sir, she was—"

"She was what?" Mr. Don Diaxu interrupted.

I looked down and saw his knuckles flex, the veins standing out as his fists clenched tightly. For a second, I thought he was going to swing and punch Mac in the face.

Instead, he spun around to face the crowd. "You, you, you, and you as well." He pointed to each of Mark’s friends and a few other girls standing nearby. "Give me your phones. Now."

There was no request in his voice. It was an absolute command.

They frowned, staring at him. "Sir, with all due respect, you have no right over our property," one of the boys snapped.

Mr. Don Diaxu turned his sharp glare to him. "Say that to me one more time and see if you still remain in this campus tomorrow."

The boy blinked rapidly. Mac’s friends looked at each other in disbelief.

"Is he serious?" they whispered.

"I do not want to have to repeat myself!" he shouted, his voice ringing off the cafeteria walls.

The girls trembled, moving quickly to drop their phones into his hand. He turned his head back to the boys, who were still trying to look stubborn. He raised an eyebrow.

"I see." He reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, and typed briskly on the screen before bringing it to his ear. "Hello? Please come over to the cafeteria. There are some students I want dropped from this school immediately."

The boys instantly panicked and rushed forward. "Sir! Sir! Sir!" they shouted, hurriedly dropping their phones into his hand.

He frowned, looking down at the collection of devices in his palm. "Good."

He took the phone away from his ear and shoved it back into his pocket. It had been a bluff! Despite the chaos of my emotions, I almost felt a ghost of a laugh in my chest at how he had handled them. They glared at him in anger, writhing in silent frustration.

"Forget about these phones. You’re not getting them back until the end of the semester," he said, shoving their phones into his bag.

"What?" one of the boys exclaimed, stepping closer. "This is not high school!"

"You should have thought about that when you were acting like high school students, using these same phones to watch one of your fellow students get humiliated and harassed. Do you think that is tolerable?" he asked.

The boy snapped his mouth shut and looked away with a heavy frown.

"I spoke against this just this morning, yet you are all still repeating it. Since you don’t learn your lessons, let this be a warning. Forget about your phones. After all, you’re rich enough to buy new ones."

He shifted his focus to me, his gaze sharp and piercing. I flinched under his scrutiny.

"You!" he said, pointing at me. "Come with me right now."

He turned and walked away. I blinked, watching his back as he moved. Why is he suddenly angry at me? I wondered, my heart racing in my throat. When I looked around, I saw everyone glaring at me. I quickly avoided their eyes and rushed after him, trying to catch up.
