Sinner System

Chapter 737: And Whose Fault Would That Be?

Chapter 737: Chapter 737: And Whose Fault Would That Be?

A burst of energy erupted around Leto as he stood amidst the fallen Hunters, the energy flowing into their chests...before they rose to their feet, my eyes widening in alarm.

Four of them raced forward towards us, their movements ungainly and inhuman. Jaden and Cleo hesitated for a moment, while Aria and I stepped forward and blasted the walking corpses away...right as Leto linked up with the zombified Teleporter.

"I’ll be back, you pieces of shit, and next time, you’re all fucking dead! Oh, and from now on...call me Reaper, The Undead King!" He cackled viciously as I shot towards him as fast as I could.

Right as I unleashed a blast of Obliterate at full power, he vanished from sight along with the Teleporter, my blast hitting the ground and drilling through.

As my feet hit the ground and skidded forward slightly, I clenched my fists in frustration, gritting my teeth.

"Damn it, that bastard, he...he got away...!" I growled, as the remaining undead Hunters began to surround me.

I extended out several tendrils of Negative Energy, restraining and holding them down as I reverted back to my base form. Without the effect of Enrage suppressing my emotions, my frustration surged and exploded, as I let out a yell and slammed my fist against the ground.

"We’ll get him sooner or later, Kai. You heard what he said, he’ll be back," Remarked Aria quietly, patting my shoulder.

"Yeah, but...this was our best shot at taking him down. Once he gets used to his increase in power, he’ll be much more of a threat. Taking him down might not be impossible, but I can’t imagine pulling that off without casualties. And it isn’t just the power boost we have to worry about," I replied grimly, as I glanced at the walking corpses I’d restrained.

"It’s literally necromancy, but different to how your Apostles of Sin work, they seem a lot closer to mindless zombies, while the Apostles retained their intelligence and personalities," Responded Cleo warily.

"Yeah, they all started moving when he chanted Turn Undead. Although, isn’t that usually an undead killing Skill or Spell in video games? Well, I guess it doesn’t-...," Began Jaden, when suddenly, everything went white.

Aria and Jaden disappeared, Cleo and I exchanging a bewildered glance as-...

"What the...? Why are we back in the Divine Realm?! Oh, shit, do we have to go through another trial?!" Suddenly came Ciel’s voice.

"No, it isn’t that," Samsara’s voice echoed out around us, before continuing, "I know it hasn’t been that long, but it’s nice to speak with you again. I, uh...I just wish it were under better circumstances."

"Yes, and whose fault would that be?" Came Uranus’s voice, sounding exasperated.

"What’s this about? I thought you said we’d never hear from you again," I frowned warily.

"Well, it’s about Leto Nex. As you saw for yourself, he now has enough power to end the world if he wanted to, and-...," Began Samsara.

"Hm? Wait, saw for yours-...hold on, did you guys go fight him without me?!" Exclaimed Ciel indignantly.

"You don’t have Status Effect Immunity, so it’d be way too risky," Pointed out Cleo.

"Yeah, but..."

"This really isn’t the time, Ciel, we can talk about it after," I remarked, before adding as I addressed Samsara, "Please, continue."

"Right, yes...sorry to say this, but even though this is kinda my fault, I can’t really do anything about it," She informed us sheepishly.

"Yeah, okay, that’s fine...but I’d like to know what exactly you did that resulted in this. I know I killed him, but then he resurrected with a tenfold power boost," I frowned in response.

"Go on, tell them what you did," Huffed Uranus.

"I was just about to! So, uh...since his System revolves around death, I figured I’d give him a Hidden Skill that turns him undead if he dies. But, uh...I didn’t really think it through," She admitted apologetically.

"So, how do we go about killing him?" Inquired Cleo warily.

"So, uh, that’s the thing...you can’t. And I don’t just mean because he’s technically dead now. Stab him in the head or heart, tear him apart, vaporize every atom of his being, it doesn’t matter, it’ll make no difference...he’ll regenerate no matter what. Even if he’s wiped out while out of Mana, he’ll promptly regenerate as soon as he recovers some Mana. He can survive without a physical form."

Huh?

"You know...I’m grateful to you for a lot of things, I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for you. But, uh, respectfully...what in the everloving hell were you thinking?!" I exclaimed incredulously.

"Yes, my thoughts exactly," Responded Uranus in agreement.

"I said I was sorry..."

"You didn’t."

"Wait, really?"

"So, let’s recap...because of this Hidden Skill you included in his System, he’s now not only the most powerful being to ever exist in our world, but also completely unkillable? That’s what you brought us here to say?" Frowned Ciel in response.

"No, I-...well, yeah, that’s part of what I wanted to say. But that’s not all, I was also going to tell you everything he’s capable of, go into detail about his abilities, so..."

"Does he really have no weaknesses whatsoever?" I sighed grimly.

"I mean, he isn’t immune to damage, your attacks will hurt him...but, uh, I guess you already know that. Also, his sense of touch is dulled in this undead state, so he won’t feel much pain."

"What about a way to reverse the effect of his Hidden Skill and turn him human again?" Suggested Cleo hopefully.

"No, there’s no way to undo it. This change is permanent, there’s no reversing the effect. I analyzed his System thoroughly to check for any oversights or loopholes to exploit that I might have missed when I created it. But, well...as it turns out, I did a really good job with creating his Sys-...o-oh, uh, I can sense that all of you are rather infuriated with me...," She trailed off sheepishly.

"As they should be," Responded Uranus dryly.

"Alright, fine, what’s done is done...no sense in raging about it, that won’t change anything. Go ahead and tell us about his abilities, we might be able to discern a weakness or loophole you overlooked," I remarked with an exasperated sigh.
