Chapter 739: Good as Over

Chapter 739: Chapter 739: Good as Over

"Seriously? He’s unkillable and can inflict instant death?! Only Kai, me and Baraqiel are immune to it, Jaden’s immune while using Spirit Fusion with Cure, while Cleo can survive it once with her Phoenix Resurrection. But for anyone else, they so much as get scratched by that scythe and they’ll just instantly drop dead?!" Surmised Aria, following as brief, stunned silence after Cleo and I finished telling her and Jaden about what Samsara told us.

"O-Oh, shit...he got dangerously close to nicking me after he broke free of my Telekinetic Zone. Something even the Demon Lord couldn’t do, by the way. He may be lacking in any real skill, but his raw strength and power is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. We can’t take that lightly," Frowned Jaden grimly.

"We’re going to need to be ready to respond as soon as he shows up again. Jaden, that Teleporter he turned undead, get a list of all known locations that the Teleporter had set teleport points at. Those areas need to be evacuated and isolated ASAP," I remarked with a frown.

"Yeah, good call, I’ll have the HUC get on that right away," He nodded in response.

"What’s our game plan, though? He’s so much more powerful than we are, more than any threat we’ve ever faced. And that’s on top of the fact that he has no weaknesses. The next time we have to fight him, what do we do?" Inquired Cleo with a grimace.

"I’ve got nothing. All the ideas that first came to mind were promptly shut down by Samsara. We’ll have to brainstorm and figure something out. I’m certainly open to ideas, anything that could give us a chance," I sighed wistfully.

"Let’s set it aside for now and focus on alerting the HUC. All the information about Leto’s abilities, we should share every detail. Maybe their research division can come up with something, the more perspectives we’ve got on this, the better," Pointed out Aria prudently.

"Yeah, that’s about all we can do for the moment. We’ll just have to hope that someone has a flash of brilliance and comes up with a solution to this problem," Replied Cleo wearily.

"I’d say I should’ve killed Leto when I had the chance during the trial, but the result would’ve been the same," I responded with a sigh.

"Oh, yeah, didn’t he declare that he’s changing his name to the Undead King, Reaper?" Recalled Jaden.

"Yeah, I’m not calling him that," I replied dryly.

"Damn it, this really sucks. We seriously can’t get a prolonged period of peace, can we? Right as we’ve dealt with one threat or obstacle, another one pops up to take its place," Groaned Aria in frustration.

"I know, right? I was really looking forward to carefreely slutting it up, but I guess I’ve got to put that on hold now," Cleo sighed wistfully.

"I’m sorry, what?" Jaden blurted out in bewilderment.

"She’s, uh, she’s had something of a sexual awakening. You’ll get used to it," I informed him with a wry smile.

"Huh. Well, you do you, Cleo," He responded with a bemused look on his face.

"That was the plan, but now, I’m going to need to train instead. I’ve definitely gotten rusty," She grumbled with a salty look on her face.

"Yeah, we’re going to need to speedrun Baraqiel’s training too," Aria said to me thoughtfully.

"Right, we’re going to need all the help we can get. If we lose this battle, the world as we know it will be as good as over," I stated grimly...

Point-of-View: Leto Nex/Reaper, The Undead King

I let out a gasp as I reached the shore and scrambled out of the water, rushing to get back onto my feet and sprinted forward as a massive, looming creature chased after me from behind. The creature burst out of the water and lunged onto land, snapping its jaws at me.

I winced as its fangs ripped off a chunk of skin and flesh from my back, before I gritted my teeth and summoned the Teleporter. The Teleporter took hold of my arm as the massive creature lunged its head towards me and snapped its jaws, before I got teleported a good distance ahead right in the nick of time, letting out a strained sigh of relief.

Th-That really fucking sucked...

Five days have passed since I escaped the X-Aces. I used the Teleporter to teleport out of Sanctuary Alpha, and then kept retreating until I was far away from the Sanctuary.

Since then, I’ve been spending my time training and gathering bodies for my undead forces. I’ve killed several Mutants and turned them undead, and yesterday, I decided to target Catastrophe Level Mutants.

And that went poorly, to say the least. I swam into the ocean, and it wasn’t long before my massive Aura attracted a Leviathan, a super massive aquatic snake creature. Death Rattle had no effect on it, and it proceeded to eat me before I had a chance to use my Death Scythe.

I did regenerate outside of its body once it digested me, but it proceeded to eat me again. That process repeated more times than I could count, until just now, when I swam like hell after I regenerated, and just about barely managed to give that thing the slip.

Its scales are so thick, the few cuts I managed to inflict on it between the constant loops of getting eaten and digested made it clear that the blade of my scythe is too small to cut through its scales and reach its skin.

And when I was inside its body, the Mana around me was so dense that I couldn’t channel my own Mana. I was completely helpless and had no choice but to wait till its stomach acid melted my body down completely, so that I could regenerate from scratch outside its body.

I just had to wait till it swam far enough that its body was no longer overlapping with the spot where my body was destroyed each time. I don’t want to go through that shit again, it just isn’t worth the trouble...I think I’m better off focusing on bolstering my numbers rather than going after a target like that one...
