Skyrim: Orebane

Chapter 121: Setting up

I caught his body as he went limp and carefully put him on the bed. [Slumber] was a illusion spell that forced whoever it was used on to be put into a deep sleep. It's most common use was to treat insomnia which many mages suffered from. It's effects perfectly mimicked actual sleep after the first thirty seconds so anyone put under could awaken after that like they would normally. Without a stimulus however Alontar would not be waking up any time soon. The reason it couldn't be used in combat however was that it required firm prolonged physical contact.-

As I said I brought this force here through my own carelessness. Despite knowing that spies likely lurked within the town I still revealed my true appearance and now the Thalmor knew I was here and were coming for me. I left the inn and without hesitation began to walk towards the gate out of the city. As I approached the gate Morghul stepped into my path.

"And where do you think you are going?" he asked with a firm stare.

"On a walk." I replied evenly.

"Theres no need. Karghistan won't fall to a puny force of only a thousand." he said flatly.

"No, I don't think it would. But this is not this towns battle, it's mine." I said firmly.

"You'll die a pointless death." he said sternly.

"Only if I fought them head on. Unfortunately for them I have no such intention. I have two days to prepare for them and I intend to use them." I reply frankly.

He eyes me for a moment before snorting.

"If you somehow win I'll personally buy you a drink. Let him through!" he say and the gate was opened to let me through.

I nodded at him before continuing my march. Once outside the gate I summoned my toad and mounted up before sending us off at a blistering pace in the direction the army was coming from. I had us run in a straight line for a good three hours at which point Karghistan was vanished from sight behind dunes and stone formations. I found a large flattish area of sand and began my preparations. First I sent my toad away and fell to my knees onto the sand with my palms pressed firmly into it.-

I closed my eyes and began to channel the tempest of my magicka into the [shape stone] spell. As my pool rapidly drained into the matrix the sands shifted and collected together into a single massive solid slab of sand based stone one hundred yards wide and thirty tall. My arms buckled and dark spots appeared in my vision as I panted from expelling every single bit of magicka within my body in a single massively overclocked spell. I sat there panting for a good twenty minutes as my magicka slowly refilled. The problem with having so much is that this took a while so I was suffering the entire time.-

Once I was feeling myself again I started the next step. For this I drew out a large barrel from my storage plain and popped off the top with a grimace as the scent of blood erupted from it. Using [Telekinesis] I started to draw a massive set of dozens of runic circles on the slab all connected together into one massive complex enchantment. Once that was complete and my barrel of blood was fully depleted I began to walk carefully over the slab and whisper a word into each of the circles in Dovahzul.

Tuz(blade)

Strun(storm)

Klo(sand)

Nah(fury)

Each word caused a slight ache in my throat after the first six as my body even altered as it was strained to invoke so many words in such rapid succession. With my voice hoarse and throat raw I finally completed the formation. It was a hideous monstrous creation that fused enchanting and Dovahzul into an unholy thing of pure angry purpose.

An artificial sandstorm maker.

Not just any sandstorm however but a sandstorm where the sands themselves cut and tear like blades on the skin.

'You want to send an army at me? You can blame only yourself for what comes next.' I thought as I began to sweep the surrounding sands over the slab.

With that done I move onto my next set of preparations. For this I created a heavy massive smelting furnace with the [shape stone] spell and started putting the armors I received from the party at the top while burning an extremely hot flame in the normal flame chamber. My magicka drained away maintaining both the [shape stone] spell and [variant flames] spell. The first because sand melts at high temperatures just like metal and thus isn't great for being used as a smelter without assistance of the magical sort.-

The second because I was in a hurry to get usable metal to begin my next preparation. As I got dangerously close to emptying my pool again though I managed to get enough rough, frankly hideous metal ingots. I shifted the smelter into a forge that I used to heat the metal into workable shape before using [telekinesis] to forge it into a shape not terribly different from a tuning fork. I tested each of these things to make sure the frequency was right.-

Once done I sprinted across the sands planting the forks periodically as I went. Once I covered several miles with these dozens of forks I returned to the slabs hidden location and started to set up camp. I wasn't going anywhere. This spot is where I would stay and await the approaching army. Just to make extra sure they'd see me and come this way I created a stone flag pole with a thin but massive paper flag that had the Thalmors symbol on it but defaced. With how proud that group was they'd immediately beeline for the me even if they weren't originally heading this exact direction.-

And so it was that I waited there for a full day and a half before the dust cloud left by a thousand marching soldiers appeared on the horizon. As planned the army deviated from it's original path once the flag was spotted. With a calm expression I opened my storage plane and took out an armful of filled soul gems. All below greater of course but that didn't matter as I shattered all of them and channeled that vast torrent of energy into the slab beneath my feet and opened my mouth.

"Strun!"
