Slowly Falling into His Love Trap

Chapter 646: He Has Given Up on Her

Evelyn couldn’t help but close her eyes tight, feeling Caden Lockwood’s heavy breathing, only then understanding what he meant by "hot" earlier.

Her cheeks were already flushed red, her whole body tense and trembling slightly, waiting for his next move.

His warm breath fell on her skin, infiltrating every cell of her body, as if he had merged her into himself, ready at any moment for the ultimate union between a man and a woman.

The night was very quiet, Caden’s body propped over Evelyn, silently and motionlessly watching her.

The gentle glow of the night fell on Evelyn’s face, faintly outlining her features, her fair skin seemingly illuminated, making her appear even more beautiful and alluring.

His throat moved, Caden was eager to do something with her.

His body’s restlessness made him want to act immediately, yet his mind was calm, with no intention of taking her.

He couldn’t.

He was about to let her go.

Besides, her body probably couldn’t bear his demands!

The surging heat inside him roared like a waterfall, Caden’s hands clenched into fists, looking at Evelyn’s heaving chest, he forced himself to look away, restraining the urge to take her completely.

"Evelyn." Caden’s voice was very soft, "I still have some work to finish, you sleep first."

Saying this, Caden got up and walked out of the bedroom with big strides.

Evelyn opened her eyes, only seeing Caden’s back, and then he closed the bedroom door, without even looking at her.

In her heart was grievance, heartache, confusion, and fear, as Evelyn lay on the bed, her ears echoing Caden’s words from earlier.

Had he really... left?

Handling work affairs?

Ha!

How could he use such a flimsy lie to brush her off?

Was he really not planning to want her anymore?

Had she disappointed him time and again, so he’d given up on her?

Had he already decided that once she recovered, he’d let her leave?

Tears welled up instantly, her nose tingling, Evelyn covered her mouth, tears rolling down.

How could he do this?

How could he leave so heartlessly, without considering her feelings at all?

That night, Caden stayed in the study and didn’t return to the bedroom.

Evelyn paced between the study door and the bedroom many times, wanting to find Caden but unable to muster the courage.

She didn’t dare to actually hear him say he wanted her to leave.

As long as she could pretend for one more day, at least have one more day!

Her heart ached as if it had been run over, Evelyn curled up in the covers, feeling sad and distressed...

A couple of days later, the day of the gathering trip arrived.

During these days, there was almost no interaction between Evelyn and Caden.

Caden often left for work early and returned late, no longer taking care of Evelyn personally like before.

Evelyn sighed heavily, not even the prospect of a trip could lift her spirits.

Cecilia Lynch was Evelyn’s only confidante, but seeing Cecilia and Julian Keaton lost in the sweetness of their upcoming wedding, Evelyn felt embarrassed to trouble her with her own issues.

Sitting in the car, Evelyn kept looking at Caden driving, speaking softly: "If... you’re busy... you don’t have to force yourself... to join."

"I’m not busy." Caden gently uttered three words.
