After settling the payment, the Primordial Stones in Lin Xuan’s Storage Space were almost completely wiped out. He was on the verge of having to sell his weapons to get by. However, his current weapons and Celestial Level Martial Arts couldn’t be sold carelessly. They had to be kept hidden for now, and besides, they weren’t worth much.
He only possessed two Spiritual Artifacts at the moment. Wan Ning and the others didn’t have any at all, though they did have Celestial Level Martial Arts. The Celestial Level Martial Arts couldn’t be sold, so for now, he would hold onto his weapons. He would only sell them if he became truly desperate. ’In any case, I’ll definitely get more in the future!’
Zi Yi had once told him that he could undertake a certain mission once his cultivation reached the Essence Pill Stage. Though he didn’t know what the mission entailed, successfully completing it would surely bring in a flood of Spiritual Artifacts. When that time came, he could buy anything he wanted.
The prerequisite was reaching the Essence Pill Stage, but he was only halfway there. ’I should keep some money on me and figure out how to break through quickly.’
Seeing Liu Yue’Er so overjoyed, a smile spread across his face. ’This money was well spent.’
"Young Master Lin, you returned and didn’t even send word." Zi Yi appeared before him, a faint, familiar smile on her face. When she noticed Liu Yue’Er and Liu Xin, she couldn’t help but ask, puzzled, "And who might these two be?"
"This is Liu Xin, and this is my daughter," Lin Xuan introduced.
Trailing behind Lin Xuan, Liu Xin was struck by a sense of inferiority the moment she saw Zi Yi. Zi Yi wasn’t just much prettier; it was her aura that completely overwhelmed Liu Xin’s.
"Daughter?" Zi Yi’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Liu Yue’Er. She found it hard to believe this was Lin Xuan’s daughter. Generally, even after finding a partner, Cultivators didn’t have children immediately.
In fact, most Cultivators married very late in life, typically only after their hopes of a breakthrough had faded, or as part of a marriage alliance to climb the social ladder. Solitary Cultivators married even later. So for a young man as talented as Lin Xuan to already have a child was quite a shock to her.
"You’re so pretty, big sister!" Liu Yue’Er said with a grin, batting her eyes at Zi Yi.
"You’re the pretty one, little sister." Zi Yi gently patted Liu Yue’Er’s little cheek and took out a bottle of Elixir Pills. "This is a meeting gift for you. I hope you like it."
Liu Yue’Er took the bottle, opened it, and gave it a sniff before exclaiming happily, "It smells so good... Daddy, can I eat it?" She looked at Lin Xuan with wide, pleading eyes, as she always listened to whatever he said.
"Ahem, you can eat this later. You can’t have it right now." Lin Xuan mentally sighed at Yue’Er’s gluttony, though he understood why. Her body was like a bottomless pit, able to absorb any amount of energy it was given.
He was also inwardly marveling at Zi Yi’s generosity. The pill she had casually handed over was a Bone Marrow Cleansing Pill. ’The younger the person who takes it, the better the effect. Zi Yi is really thoughtful.’
’She’s probably being so courteous to me because I saved her last time.’
"I never would have thought Young Master Lin already had a wife, and that your child is already so grown. It’s quite unexpected." Zi Yi’s gaze flickered, a flash of disappointment in her eyes vanishing so quickly that no one noticed it.
"She’s not actually my biological daughter. I’m her godfather," Lin Xuan said with a sheepish laugh. "A friend entrusted her to me, just asking me to help take care of her."
He figured he should offer a simple explanation. ’It would be a real pain if these people started investigating.’
"Oh, so you’re her godfather. I really thought Young Master Lin was already married." A flash of delight appeared in Zi Yi’s eyes. She smiled faintly and said, "Are you here to purchase Spirit Medicine? Do you need it refined? I can have someone do it for you."
"Yes, but I won’t need them refined for now. Thank you for your kind offer, Miss Zi Yi," Lin Xuan said. "Actually, I came to the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion for two things today. The first was to purchase some Spirit Medicine. The second was to ask if Liu Xin could join the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion. What do you think, Miss Zi Yi?"
Liu Xin, standing behind him, froze. He wanted her to join this lavish establishment? The thought was genuinely intimidating. She had never dreamed of such a thing. Even though she hadn’t met any powerful figures, she could tell just by stepping inside that this was no ordinary place. One couldn’t get in without some kind of status.
For Lin Xuan to suggest she join this place... she was utterly shocked.
Zi Yi looked Liu Xin up and down, her eyes twinkling, before smiling faintly. "No problem. Since she’s someone Young Master Lin is recommending, we’ll waive the assessment. However, if she can’t keep up later, then don’t blame us for being merciless."
Waiving the assessment didn’t mean there were no standards. If Liu Xin failed to meet them, Zi Yi wouldn’t hesitate to let her go. The Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion did not support freeloaders!
"I will work hard! I absolutely will!" Liu Xin stepped forward, her inner timidity seemingly swept away as she spoke with firm resolve.
Her voice was strong and resolute. Although her eyes still held a hint of fear, she met Zi Yi’s gaze head-on. She knew that if she didn’t seize this opportunity, she would be wasting Lin Xuan’s recommendation and failing her own resolve!
Zi Yi returned her gaze, applying no spiritual pressure, simply meeting Liu Xin’s eyes. Liu Xin wanted to look away several times but forced herself to keep staring, suppressing her inner cowardice to the point she hardly dared to breathe.
After a moment, a gentle smile appeared on Zi Yi’s face. "I believe you. Come upstairs with me in a moment; I’ll take you to get registered." With that, she started walking past Lin Xuan. As she brushed by him, she added in a low voice, "The person you brought along is quite remarkable..."
As Zi Yi headed upstairs, Liu Xin came to stand before Lin Xuan and said with determination, "Benefactor, one day, I will repay this debt to you!"
Her expression was still green, that of someone with little experience who had just pushed through on pure guts. But now, it seemed she had undergone a slight transformation, bringing a smile to Lin Xuan’s lips. He believed that Liu Xin would achieve great things in the future.
"Yue’Er, I hope you’re even taller the next time I see you!" she said, crouching down to speak with Liu Yue’Er.
"Big sister, you’re not coming with us?" Liu Yue’Er asked, sad to part with her. After all, Liu Xin had always been the one looking after her.
"That’s right. I have to leave for now, but we’ll meet again. Remember to listen to your daddy, okay?" Liu Xin’s eyes grew red. After so many years with Liu Yue’Er, it was impossible not to be attached. She truly saw Yue’Er as her own little sister.
She covered her mouth and ran upstairs without waiting for a reply, leaving a red-eyed Liu Yue’Er behind.
"Daddy, will we see her again?" Liu Yue’Er asked. She didn’t make a fuss or try to follow; she was a very sensible child.
"Of course we can. We’ll come visit whenever we’re free. Or, when you’re a little older, you can come by yourself." Lin Xuan picked her up, gave the staircase one last, deep look, and then turned to leave.
’I hope that the next time we meet, I’ll get to see Liu Xin’s true transformation!’
