Space Odyssey: Spectre

"Done." Jace sighed as he leaned back in his chair. Then a gray hand fell upon his shoulder and he looked over to see the gray figure.

"Thank you." He stated as the rest of the figures had already left for their 'tasks' and were formatting this world to their preference and to make their task easier. Although they would still have to follow the basic 'rules' that Jace had set for this afterlife.

"For what?" Jace chuckled as he stood up. "Giving you a reprieve from being spread across the galaxy or beyond. Do not thank me yet, I am not sure if the others know. But you know for sure that I can see the future."

"How bad will it be?" The figure asked in confusion.

"Bad, but just like with every story or myth. The people for that story will solve the issues that arise." Jace explained as he could feel something pulling at his hand and looked down at it. "Ah… I think I overstayed my welcome."

"Yes, by your own rules you can not stay here while your real body is still alive." The figure nodded its head. "It was a pleasure meeting you. Your ancestors would be proud."

Jace's eyes twitched at those words and he opened his mouth but then closed them. "I see… so humans really did bring the system to this galaxy."

"They brought a system. But as you saw before there were dozens of us. For some reason, we all gathered here over time. I do not know if it was fate or some grand design. But I imagine even the artificial intelligences will be confused about the change that is coming. Because even they are still children compared to us." The gray figure informed him as from Jace's view the world started getting darker and darker. "Goodbye Jace Wintry."

A moment later as there were only dots still in his view he thought he was still staring at the gray figure through the fog. But now he was realizing he was back in his body. He held his hands forward and could see the armored gloves. But as he did he realized the background was spinning.

Actually that was not right. He was spinning. He tried to move around a bit and immediately understood the limiting physical effects of what he had just done. His limbs were beyond sore. He was not permanently damaged but for the moment he could barely move, it was a miracle he could even swing his arms forward.

His body rotated and he spotted a mass of blue coming into view that had a number of craters visible. "Ah shit." He mumbled right before the blue ground got closer and closer and he slammed into it.

It was a soundless collision but he still felt the impact throughout his body. Apparently he was flying through the air pretty quickly. Making him not stop on the celestial body meant that it did not have enough mass to keep hold of him. Instead he bounced away towards something else. Hopefully he did not catch the orbit of a planet.

But as he spun around with now pieces of blue rock following after him. He could make out what he was flying towards. Or more likely what he had been flung towards. A planet with a clear atmosphere but was covered in both purple and gray. He was not going on a path towards orbit. He was flying straight down and unless something broke his fall even more, he might have ended up as a nuclear catastrophe for this planet.

He needed to think. What could he do? He can't move, even if he could at this point he was drained dry of electricity. His hexes on his armor could activate, but he could only activate one of them. It did not look like this planet had any defenses so he would slam into the ground like a meteor and probably leave a massive crater unless he did something.

That means he could only rely on himself and he could only activate one of the hexes engraved in them. There was just enough spare electrical power for that. His arms could launch kinetic energy but they required movement. His legs could launch out a burst of air currents but it would be like putting a piece of paper in a hurricane, and with only one burst there would be no point.

Although he could absorb impacts with his chest plate. If he orientated right the impact would be lessened because his chest plate would absorb the bulk of the kinetic energy. Although he risked permanent damage. At the moment he could not even reach out to the other parts of his mind because he was so spent, so he would have to risk it rather than know the outcome.

As he began to fall through the atmosphere he reorientated his body and waited to activate his chest plate. He would have to do it when heat began to build up because then it would continue to power itself on the way down. If he did it too early it would just deactivate and his plan would fail.

Facing down towards the planet his vision started to become impaired as heat from him entering the atmosphere at high speeds began to make the external part of his armor heat up with blazing flames while inside he was just mildly uncomfortable. After a few seconds he felt slightly suffocated by the pressure that was coming into his armor, so he activated his chest plate and he could feel as electricity began to slowly accumulate in his body again. Not enough to make a big impact but it was enough to keep the chest plate active.

He fell through the atmosphere and then into the purple colored cloud layer. He deactivated his chest plate for the moment as his armor became colder again. But with the heat already radiating, the newly forming ice crystals melted into water droplets. Then steam and then it stopped as he passed completely through the cloud layer and could now see past the soot that had built up on his visor from when he began to enter the atmosphere.

Whoosh!

Air rushed past him as he made out what he was flying towards. "Shit!" He cursed loudly and flinched like he wanted to dodge but could not because of his inability to move.

BOOM!

He impacted the mountain top while facing it and coughed up blood as he bounced off it after leaving what was no doubt a permanent mark on the landscape. But now he was officially slowed to a speed that would not be lethal. But he was still falling towards the planet, except with the ricochet off the mountain he was spinning so he could not even see where he was going.

Boom!

He impacted the ground again and skipped back up into the air before hitting the ground again and this time leaving an indentation in the dirt as he skid across the ground. He grunted as he faced the dirt that was red in color and then slowly flipped onto his back as he looked out of the small crater he was in. The dirt was green while up above him he could see gray grass, green trees with purple leaves and up in the sky were the same purple clouds from before.

"Ow." He quietly remarked as he steadily breathed in and out of his body. His armor was breached but the atmosphere seemed to have a breathable atmosphere similar to what he needed. He could not tell what was breached because everything hurt and his armor still did not have enough power.

But now he could solve that issue. As he laid there he reached out and slowly started to pull the minute amount of electricity in the atmosphere and ground into his body. Not enough to power his armor. But it would also be in small enough amounts so he would not damage the local plants and animals.

He could barely feel as his mind fully reconnected with itself but he could sense the door connecting his mind to Salem's was lacking enough power. So she would know he was alive, but that was it. "I guess I am staying here for a bit." He mumbled under his breath as he got comfortable.

Then he could feel as something liquid began to drop on him and then more droplets until it was a full storm raining down on him. He sighed as he slowly fell asleep to the sound. It was nostalgic in a way. He was sleeping in an uncomfortable place in an uncomfortable position, just like he would on the battlefield.

"It worked." One of the politicians remarked as they approached the control panel. Salem and Taylor were at the controls. Looking over the information that was being shown about the stable and artificial black hole that had been created.
